  • If you are interested in helping us keep the show running please think about buying us a drink or throwing us a tip to our Venmo. www.venmo.com/u/tastebudguys Onward on our quarantine run, we take a trip back to Jose Ceurvo Reserva de la Familia and give it the episode it deserves. This isn't a tequila for shots, friends.

    You can call us Taste Buds or the Two Guys behind the counter, it doesn't matter to us. We are two guys from Missouri doing a Craft Beer Review and a Whiskey Review (or Whisky Review depending where you are from) with a drive to always Try Something New. We won't drive you crazy with snobby tasting notes that no one else will understand, just a general idea of what the beer or food tastes like. We want YOU to join us in trying exciting new things to open our minds, and pallets, to something different. So join Chris Horn and Lyal Strickland as we foray into some suds and grains and stumble all over ourselves trying to sound smarter than they really are. Some of the things we love to try are Scotch, Bourbon, Rum, Tequila, wine, and craft beer of all kinds. We argue between Stouts and Porters, IPA and Sour, Farmhouse and Lager. I'm sure there isn't anything we won't disagree about except that we like to try new stuff.
    If you have a favorite brewery or Distillery or anything else, be sure to send us a message so we can try it at Thosetastebudguys@gmail.com

    There is a way to appreciate this-
    1- wet your lips. With 30 seconds.
    2-take a sip. Now it’s tequila. Wait one minute.
    3. Finish, and it’s the the sweet nectar of Jesus.

    Cuervo is located in the lower part of Jalisco, Tequila named Town region which has a driyer climate that in the Altos de Jalisco Region which is more humid , this gives the Blue Agave a different content of sugars in the destillation process a different taste in the Tequila, no better or worst; different, . Many of the traditional destilleries are in the Tequila Town Area, most of the new high brand destileries aren in Los Altos de Jalisco Area;(Arandas, Atotonilco el Alto). Both (Tequila Jalisco and Los Altos de Jalisco ) are in the Tequila Denomination of Origin Zone

    Which reserv de LA familia should I get? Trying to buy one for new years. I like something that is very smooth and not a strong after taste. I know they also have the clear bottle I think its call platino, is it any good.? or should I just stick with the usual don Julio:)

    • @tastebudguys
      @tastebudguys  2 года назад

      Man, I wish we could answer this for you, but the honest truth is we have only had that one particular bottle so far. So, I really do not know. I will go out on a limb and say this though, based on what you just said, I'm guessing that bottle we have is not the one you would want. It is kind of spicy and tobacco like. Very bold and kind of scotch like. Let us know what you decide and what your thoughts are though please! We are just as curious as you ~cheers and happy new year in advance

    • @tastebudguys
      @tastebudguys  2 года назад +1

      @@rudydeleon2257 I mean if that is your thing, sure, but a good drink is a good drink. So, in the end does it matter as long as you like it? I get it, lots of comments about traditional and additives and yada yada, but c'mon. The average person just doesn't care in the beginning, and the best way to get them to care is to get them started trying different tequila. And if for some reason they never come around to the straight tequila, then no worries, it's their dollar and their tastebuds. But I respect what you are saying. This is a very old episode for us, and we are still learning about all the stuff that goes into it. As it stands now, Tequila Ocho is probably our favorite as our tastes are beginning to move away from the sweeter stuff too. I think it probably comes with experiencing different ones?

    I might be over thinking this but would tequila be considered a brandy?

    • @tastebudguys
      @tastebudguys  4 года назад +1

      I would have to look up to see what constitutes a brandy, I think it would have to be derived from fruit for that wouldnt it? It's considered tequila because it is made from agave. But that's all I could tell you definitively off the top of my head. But I will maybe look into it if i think about it tomorrow.

      @@tastebudguys they can legally add 1% by volume. They usually add coloring to make it look aged. They add aromas to make it smell aged. They also add flavoring to make mask the subpar taste. Please look into G4 and Fortaleza a great example of a Top notch Tequila from Los Altos, and a top notch tequila from the Town of Tequila.
