I have to agree about not needing to be a fan in order to act in a property. Think about it... when actors of the original came into their work, they weren't a fan of it because it didn't exist. They were put in a booth, given lines ,told about the characters, etc, and still made it amazing. If reboot actors come with the same level of knowledge as that, that should be good enough, right?
Except the original cast brought these characters to life, and other actors have a choice when bringing them to other media: mimic the originals or do their own interpretations and change them. This is why most critical takes compare it to Dragonball Evolution or Netflix's live-action Death Note: the changes are significant enough that if it wasn't for the same names you'd think you're watching a cheap parody or "Sweded" version
I hope you guys read this comment! As a diehard fan of Cowboy Bebop I have watched the classic anime 3 times. I was extremely critical at first and still have reservations of the Netflix adaptation but I think the production design, CGI and acting was excellent. Daniella was revelatory as Faye and she is bound to go places with her charisma, wit and comedic timing. John Cho only continues to push the boundaries of Asian representation in Hollywood that isn't depicted as meek or ineffectual. His physical embodiment of Spike was impressive. His physical movements like his strut was very similar to Spikes. I think Mustafa was the breakout for me here. His vocal cadence, accent and mimicry of Jet was so spot on I had to keep reminding myself he wasn't the originator of Jet's iconic English VA (Beau Billingslea). Alex was excellent as Vicious. At first I didn't think he was right for the part but his intensity, focus and physical commitment to the role was worthy of praise. He actually was shredded. Julia was good. I like how they were able to explore her character and add more backstory. She was also beautiful and looked the part. No comment on Ed (that was one of my main gripes) some of the episode plots were also weak or too comically influenced but overall I am satisfied with the show and thank the actors for the effort and commitment they put into the series! Someday I would like to see a cinematic adaptation of Bebop with a gigantic production budget.
I enjoyed this adaptation a lot. It wasn't perfect, but it expanded on the original and took risks -- some of them worked out, some not so much. I think it is ultimately for the best that they owned this project and made their mark on it, rather than just slavishly copy the anime scene-by-scene. One thing I did not like about the original anime was how "episodic" it was, with almost no continuity or larger story arc -- just tiny nibbles of Spike's backstory with Vicious and Julia, both characters we barely see and know nothing about. In this adaptation, obviously they invest a lot more time into those origins and bring them to the forefront. It's not always gold, but I think it makes a better show that they tried rather than didn't. It was also pretty damn cool to get Episode 9 where we actually see Vicious and Fearless as buddies and brothers, working together, and how it all fell apart. With regards to Ed, I think a big part of what makes that cameo awkward is she is basically on her own in an abstract void, trying to "act like Ed" without any context and no one to interact with. Spike is basically unconscious. The show is over, there's no story going on, and we can't have any meaty details about where the show is headed yet. Imagine being told "Here, talk to this sleeping person, and be wacky." I think Ed will make a lot more sense once we have an actual plot to install her in, and other characters to bounce off of, and real things to do. This post-show tidbit was not a fair shot.
Cowboy Bebop TV series wasn't bad at all. They did a good job with the actors and Vicious & Julia and Spike have more time I totally agree. Spike Vicious Julia. Alex Hassell plays Vicious he did a great job playing him live action Cowboy Bebop. Daniella was great as Faye Valentine I wanted to see more of Ein.
As a fan of the anime I must say I do love this adaptation I always wanted more after the anime ended I always said they could have expanded atleast 2 more seasons
You can tell the actors did their job by watching the anime. If this fails big time it's Netflix, and some reviews are saying it's very cheap looking. I as a diehard Bebop fan hope it's good as a live action.
You know, I definitely like the anime much more, the emotional impacts were better crafted the baddies seem much more dangerous too. I did like how the live action craft the main characters interrelationships much more, the fighting seemed pretty good too. Some of the quirkyness didn't land but alot of it did. Overall I can binge watch the anime but I can only take the live action a few at a time. Thanks for the interview btw it's was interesting to hear the actors pov.
Anime fans should give it a chance.... It is a lot better than other anime adaptations we had previously.... Im just glad it's not like dragonball live action
Kinda ironic what Danielle said about doing your homework considering she was the least faithful to their character from the source material bar Gren, and Vicious.
I personally enjoyed the live-action show even though I've been a long time fan of the anime. Yes, some episodes weren't as impactful but that is the challenge of writing a new plot for an anime that thrives on a lot of things being shrouded in mystery. Vicious could've been written better though, I'll stipulate to that, he was easily the weakest character in the reboot. The only part that felt right was his penchant for cruelty, everything else was off from his persona and the overall vibe he gave. I never got the feeling of intimidation or fear, I mainly just felt bad for him.
How is that Faye's actor is wearing a very striking and beautiful dress, that looks amazing on her. She's killing it. And this dress is entirely way more Faye like than the ugly leather jacket, top, black skirt combo that they have her in. Honestly I would of prefered her in this dress with a nice jacket, shoes, and leggings as her default look. And why is vicious in a basement? I'm am confusions.
@@theboogie1460 that’s fine. Im just surprised so many from my generation haven’t seen it. Apparently they don’t watch or care for anime. Cho is a good actor but he looks a bit stiff for the part. We shall see how everything goes.
nah man all of you shouldn’t have ever touched the masterpiece of 98 anime cowboy bebop and all the actors and actresses and staff should be ashamed that they were in this trash show

I loved the original and I really like the adaptation. Its fun.....just like the original.

How come there is no question for Ein?
CB is really my favorite anime and really like the live action show! I like that it is made in new light and not exactly coping the anime.

I am a diehard fan too and I’m praying it doesn’t screw up
Live action was great. Really enjoyed it
i love the 1st episode, keep up the good job guys.
Elena Satine baby! you're the only perfect ACTRESS here...
Uniqueness and mimic at the same time is perfect everone would really love it.💯
So stoked to see this show. I personally love the cast and what everyones saying.
We need a live action Trigun next. I watched those two shows back to back obsessively.
it all depends on how well the editing is.

Can’t wait for the premier ! I got my email ✌️
They really didn’t let “Jet” talk until 3/4 of the way through the interview
elena is hella cute
John and Mustafa made me sit through this lukewarm affair.
Show creators did the actors dirty.
Yup the showrunners dropped the ball
The live action was a pretty decent show

The show would seriously be so awesome to watch, like it’s the anime, but in live action, but epic.

Alex Hasell looks like he can legitimately play BARRETT! If there was a Final fantasy VII movie!
Kinda ironic what Danielle said about doing your homework considering she was the least faithful to their character from the source material bar Gren, and Vicious.
How about Netflix do a live action of fist of the North Star
Outlaw star too
i love this show ... probably help i didnt watch anime (yet) so i am not biased close mind fanboy like a lot fans but ofc NOT EVERYONE
Awesome
Why is Vicious in the basement LOL
Basement?!

Julia is Hot on anime, Julia is Hot on live action, what can I say 🤩
Yeah the casting for Julia was actually very well done I can't say the same for the rest of the cast hahahaha

Jeese. How many of these people have not been a cowboy bebop fan. COME ON! 😒
They don't need to be.
That’s how auditions work, as long as they portray the characters well (which is their job) and do their homework

not gonna lie, im worried about this one
The show is objectively terrible and RUclips removal of the dislike button can’t change that.
because you guys are just absurd, XD already telling its terrible without seeing it yet. Harassing the cast and staffs? YOU GUYS ARE TRUE VILE!!!
Objectively speaking, I think you meant subjectively
A 100$ the show will suck.

please dont make a live action version of Cowboy Bebop. Please, oh god please, oh god PLEASE DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!

The show sucked.
