    Steelhead are certainly challenging. I have not really concentrated on them for almost 20 years. Even then, it was tough sledding if you did not dedicate yourself to it. I learned the Wilson (so I thought) and still did not learn it well enough (apparently). I imagine it it tougher for fly fishing since it seems most folks successful at steel on coastal rivers are more into bobber/jig/shrimp combos.
    Great video, as always.

    Awesome video. Definitely keep at the spey game! Trust the process and the magic will happen. If you ever need any advice give me a shout. Spey fishing for Steelhead is all I do.

      @@riverwiseanglersflyfishing8538 thank you! I’ve definitely been keeping at it and have made some big improvements including catching some fish. I actually had a film idea after listening to you on the River Rambler podcast. It involves brewing a beer and swinging flies. I’ll send you a DM through IG and go into more detail. Cheers!

    Do not use anything that mimics an egg pattern as it is more likely to be swallowed and is detrimental to the survival after release of these special fish.

    Fly fishing is great for trout and salmon but almost waste of time for steelhead

      Nnaaaahhhh, go floss a spawner with a bobber rig

    • @richmosley2519
      @richmosley2519 10 месяцев назад

      Flossing is certainly a popular option around certain 'combat fishing' areas. People at their worst, which is really sad.

    • @richmosley2519

      I believe it is more difficult (fly fishing for steel), but certainly not a waste of time.

    • @prolificnorthwest

      @@richmosley2519 agreed. To each their own though I suppose. I also believe that with greater effort, comes greater reward. If I wanted to do it the easier way, I would…..but I don’t. I enjoy the experience of challenging myself. I feel like it leads to a more fulfilling life….but again, to each their own……oh and I also just like going fishing with my brother.
