Taeki. This is very nice of you to share your life. Learning a new language is easier when you are young. I was born and raised in NYC and learning a language was mandatory. Our leadership started to change for the worse and now people do not focus on this. When I had the opportunity to live in Japan, I was extremely happy 😊. I wanted to always visit and learn so I took 2 classes for speaking Japanese plus talking to Japanese people to learn about them. What I discovered was people in Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong have different ideas for the English language. Here are facts for you to look up. English that is learned outside of the usa is Proper English. It is the English they speak in England, not in the usa. It's considered the original. English in usa is broken, backward, poor and slang. We have 52 states and each one speaking differently 😔 😥. And in each state not everyone speaks well so there is even more. It's because of so many cultures and beliefs. Is it good or bad? No. Instead it pushes for patience, communication and understanding. But this country lacks that respect. So I get very angry when I see anyone wanting to learn and be like Americans because they don't understand what that actually means. Instead they learn the bad things Americans say and do. My ex-Husband (Japanese) learned bad words and feelings about people with color - black, African Americans. I am not going to share those words but they were hurtful 💔 😢 and degrading. So I have wanted to escape the usa since I came back. Japanese people were kind to me, I was happy, peaceful, healthy food and safe. The majority of people in usa have guns, are not respectful to people different from them because they are black, Asian, Indian, from India, from Africa, from middle east... the America many see are white people and that is who makes the laws. So don't put yourself down for not learning English or for not understanding America. I wish for peace and happiness and equality every day. Look up what happened to "George Floyd" 2020. That is what people of color go through everyday still since he was killed. It has been happening since 1500's when white people made African people into slaves. I'm sorry for being honest but everyone needs the truth.
Thank you for telling me some really important facts. I think my attitude of understanding and learning English will be a little different. There were times when I felt sorry for myself not being able to speak English confidently when I worked at a cafe or when foreign customers came. And when I travel abroad someday, I thought I should learn to travel to have more fun. I'm sorry for what you've been through and what you've been through. I wish you only good things and good luck in the future, and I hope you don't lose your confidence and move forward firmly even if difficult trials. Thank you always.
