Gday Tait. Great work your doing there mate. Going back to your last video with the doors, it might be worth pulling the skins off the the outside and sandblasting the door internals. As you know , manu areas of these cars were built with no protection on the metal asx they couldn’t access them. Blast. Clean, expoxy. 👍
Thanks for the comment, I protected most of the inner doors but i do need to readdress them. There not super rusty so i’m not to sure if i need to go that far with it but cheers for the suggestion will definitely take it into consideration 👍🏻
How'd you get so competent so young? You've probably been working on cars since you could hold a spanner. Your video came up in my feed, I was impressed so I subbed, keep em coming!
Hahah thanks mate appreciate the support. i’ve definitely been in the shed since i was a little tacker, the old man has told me that when i was 5 i would go up to his car and tap on it and say “there’s bog in that” 🤣
Have seen some epic custom jobs on tonners over the years. Old mate back in the day used blue flake on black paint with centerlines , 10s and 8s , polished wood tray. Mildly worked 308. Looked nice, with dump pipes no mud flaps.
@@HQ1TN sorry bruz but, what you don't see many of is a Tonna on a 4wd chassis with 31s. Took that one in a different direction to throw em off for ya.😜🇦🇺
Just found your channel and keep up the great work. Have you thought about removing the cab from the chassis for better access to inside and underneath?
Thanks mate, we had it on a rotisserie to do the floor pans and bottom A pillars. It went back on the chassis so we could put the doors on to line up the sills. This was all before i started the youtube but we will be putting it back on the rotisserie very soon
@@HQ1TN thanks tait and yeah they probably are haha what size metal did you use on your car/cab/ sills and b pillar?? Was it out of all the same material??
@@HQ1TN and tait what about where you drill the spot weld on the b pillar to get the roof howd you go about that do you just grind it back and spot weld appear??
@@jeffwilliams245 I used lots of different thickness of sheet metal for the car. I try and use the same thickness that I'm replacing/welding to. I use a vania caliper to measures the thickness I working with. Regarding the spot welds on the be pillar, There is LEAD over the join with 2-3 spot welds underneath. You'll need to get a blow touch or something hot to heat up the lead then wipe with wire brush. This process is pretty toxic so make sure you have the correct PPE. Once all the spot welds have been drilled I then used the grinder to cut along the ridge line above the gutter rail (this is the strongest point and easier to weld back up) then I cut around the back corner towards the rear window. Hope this helps 👍
Well done Tait, I met with you a few months ago and made a key for the Commodore, your an inspiration to me, keep up the good work!!
Cheers Hank really appreciate it and thanks again for sorting out the calais key she works a treat.

How thick was the steel you used to repair the inner structure? 1.6mm?
Yeah I'm pretty sure it was 1.6mm but I'm not 100% sure because it was a little while ago 👍
Hey tait did you drill those spot weld at front of the roof going around the window screen from inside the cab ??
Yeah had to drill them from the inside and i’m not gonna lie they were an absolute pain 😂
