Kinda hard to imagine that Les Paul Gibson page is playing was once buried in a basement for years until somebody asked Joe Welsh, if you have a Gibson for sale as Joe finally located it in the basement after years of dust he pulled it out handed it to the one and only Jimmy Page for 2G’s for everyone to see
You really see the Page/Plant back and forth, in this song. They are BOTH the focal point, of this bluesy song, which starts with an awesome riff, by Jimmy. One of the best solos, from him are in the beginning and middle, of this song, Slow than fast, back and forth, just a masterpiece! In 1973, you haven't seen a lot of fast finger playing since Jimi Hendrix, then after this Eddie Van Halen and many more were listening, to Page, for his technique. Simply changed guitar playing, in the early to mid seventies.
You simply would not believe Dazed and Confused from this show unless you saw it for yourself. If nothing else watch at least the last 12 minutes in your spare time.
If you ever listen to other stuff that Page has worked on as a session player before The Yardbirds. Without knowing he was on that record, you will definitely say hey that sounds like Page.
This is a hidden gem that most people not big Zeppelin fans never heard of until you tube. My second favorite blues song too. When you get to "In my time of Dying." Off of Physical Graffiti you will hear my favorite blues song. That one is played with a slide guitar and Page does things with it I think you might be surprised by. Plant singing, though his voice is not what it used to be and now has a growl to it, I actually like better in some ways than when he had his full range. But Bonham's drumming on this song steals the show. They have a live version of it too from Earl's Court in 1975 that is very good as well. Oh, John Paul Jones hair. I have been told thats a wig because he got a haircut just before this performance that he hated. Page has been called "sloppy" more than once. But I think thats because of one, he improvises so much live and two he is more concerned by the "feel" of the song than perfection as you said. If you want perfection Check out Dream Theater. They are so technically perfect and their songs so complicated you would think they are not human. But their critics call them soulless. You can't win. LOL.
Here's a fun fact. Due to technical difficulties The Song Remains The Same (where this clip comes from) was shot on a live sound stage set for some close up shots. These were done some considerable time after the actual live footage was filmed so by this time John Paul Jones (the chap plying the organ) had had his long hair cut off so for the sake of continuity in some of the shots here he's wearing a wig. Rock & Roll!
You should check out "Baby Come on Home" and "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do" which are studio outtakes from Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin III. Great tracks.
Would like to see more of your commentary and opinion seeing as most of the people that click on these videos have already heard/seen the thing u r talking about
If you haven't subscribed what's the hell wrong with you. Lol!! Love it. Great reaction. Really looking forward to House's of the Holy. Probably my favorite LZ album.
I am waiting for your reaction to In My Time of Dying. After you do the studio version I hope you watch the live performance from Earls Court 1975. It’s SO good and it’s the slow blues that you seem to truly appreciate
😂 Just added a comment to Stairway vid suggesting this.... And right on cue it was the very next video! Couldn't agree more with your comments on the way Page seems to play, effortless! Thank you so much for diving off, who knows maybe you'll get around to Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb live Pulse Concert (second greatest rock guitar solo of all time) 😂😂😂 I once saw him drop a pick, he managed to carry on somehow (it seemed without missing a beat) and then a roadie crawled on stage handed him another pick again while still playing!
I think JPJ was wearing a wig here, as this concert features in the film 'The Song Remains the Same', but the film maker messed up and they had to reshoot some footage by which time JPJ had cut his hair shorter, so for continuity sake he wore a wig.
They are just the best!! Please do more! Please do In My Time Of Dying...do the live one from Earls Court...I think it is included on the Mothership album...not sure.
Jimmy makes the guitar sing, very very few can do thst. To my nin musical ear its a totslly different thing to a technical player. With thise guys i appreciate the skill but i just fdont feel the music. Jimmy speaks to me through that guitar. Id also argue blues is better when its a little sloppy and raw
You should do reaction to concert .film stop making sense by talking heads. It’s really fun and high energy. If not the whole film then maybe few songs from this concert like psycho killer, life during wartime, once in the lifetime, take me to the river, cities etc. etc.
Yep. Usually if JPJ is on keyboards (and sometimes mandolin) the bass line is played on foot pedals. Which makes him even more amazing. In the 2007 reunion concert videos, you can actually see him playing the bass line by pedal.
If you're starting to do a few live videos, I definitely recommend a greatly missed part of David Bowie's work that would help you to fully understand his music as well. The live shows were, more times than not, even greater than the studio output and I think it would be a great experience for you. I know you loved the sounds of The Velvet Underground and Bob Dylan when you did your album listens, so one song in particular makes total sense to do, I feel. Rock N' Roll Suicide live from the Hammersmith Odeon 1973, because Ziggy Stardust as a character was such a major focal point and Rock N' Roll Suicide was the most important song of that era. The visuals really do bring the music out in a spectacular way. m.ruclips.net/video/CD1nzOeS6U0/видео.html
Robert Plant’s jeans were so tight that they hugged his legs like Fruit Roll-Ups. He should have his own flavour: Banana Bulge I knew you would smirk at John Paul Jones’ hair. He looked like a medieval prince donning a jacket with Christmas ornaments, dangling from the sleeves. Hope to see more from this concert, on your channel.
You still have not listened to HOUSES OF THE HOLY which has the Song No QUARTER. Please, after you listen to the studio version of NO QUARTER try NO QUARTER live 1973 from this same concert. I think you may like it more live. The studio version seems to not have the same feel.

Solid. You smiled this time. All is not lost.

I'm racking my brain trying to think of what genre can give you this kind of musicianship, ad-libs, riffs and fills!
My ALL time Favorite live performance EVER!!
You nailed the Page’s solo part. It it was percise, on pitch, not sloppy, it would not sound like Zep
Whole lotta love from the same concert. The last half of the song is just..... they went to an another galaxy i think
Great version.

Yes!!
very notable is the live version of it at Earls Court 1975, another hit here on youtube
YES a reaction to In My Time of Dying from Earls Court would be wonderful. Let's see what Alex thinks of the studio version.
Page swings for the fences. He gets there more times than not. Playing it safe was not his plan of attack.

You should react to Echoes live at Pompeii by Pink Floyd
You should check out "Baby Come on Home" and "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do" which are studio outtakes from Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin III. Great tracks.
That girls staring...that was all of us! Trying to avoid throwing our panties on stage 😂
I tried throwing my soiled briefs on stage at a Led Zeppelin concert, and I was kneed in the groin by security.
Lol
Would like to see more of your commentary and opinion seeing as most of the people that click on these videos have already heard/seen the thing u r talking about
You might as well react to song remains the song/the rain song from same concert. The version of this rain song is my fav.
If you haven't subscribed what's the hell wrong with you. Lol!! Love it. Great reaction. Really looking forward to House's of the Holy. Probably my favorite LZ album.

Page or Gilmore?

I believe John Paul Jones is playing bass with his feet while playing the keyboard with his hands, is that right peeps?
Yep. Usually if JPJ is on keyboards (and sometimes mandolin) the bass line is played on foot pedals. Which makes him even more amazing. In the 2007 reunion concert videos, you can actually see him playing the bass line by pedal.

Pourquoi il y a souvent du décalage entre les images de Page et ce qu on entend?
Robert Plant’s jeans were so tight that they hugged his legs like Fruit Roll-Ups. He should have his own flavour: Banana Bulge

Both are great, but I prefer the studio version. Jones’ piano solo is gorgeous.
Is your thumbnail purposely there to make it look like you hate it lol
Great song but based on Never by Moby Grape
Click bait. Turn your shit up.
A song Zeppelin stole from Moby Grape!
