If Thailand allied itself with Japan completely, the US would have taken the declaration of war seriously.
Thailand was the only Japanese-collaborationist in Southeast Asia after the irresistible Japanese invasion during the pre-theater of war in 1942. The country did sign the Armistice and military alliance treaty with Japan on 15 December 1941 to become the official Japanese ally.
The Free Thai Movement, however, was the Thai partisan whose overseas operation was co-belligerence of the Allied-Powers. Thailand did also declare war on the United States, but the Free Thai Movement intercepted the declaration of war beforehand. Besides, Thailand never took initiative with the ongoing Japanese invasion to conflict with the American colonial administration of the Phillipines.
In the end, the USA was the only Allied-Powers to perceive Thailand as an invaded nation while preventing the British and French to bombard Thailand on war crimes trial. Thailand was still considered a defeated nation in WWII, however it was the Free Thai Movement that took the credit to win WWII alongside with the Allied-Coalition.
