"Anasthasia" is THEE rave track par excellence! I decided to listen to it a few days ago after many years of not hearing and it *STILL KICKS* ! Such a wonderfully beautiful track .
🎵Yes this Record DEFINITELY hit the Spot in 1991 ,it's Techno Royalty here in the UK where it was the most successful " it went off in so many ways " fantastic 🥇♥️💯👍🎵
I heard him talking about Luc Devriese. What a producer he also was ❤ Maybe should do an interview also with him? He has so many aliases on which he made some great tracks. Thinking about Trance Team - Breath Of Life, Brim Nusher-Beginning To Fly, Sloane Strangers, etc…
For now I don’t do requests, sorry! Time and especially travel budget are my main issues at the moment. Plus I have a wish list with over 100 people / tracks on it, so ideas enough 😉 Thanks for your understanding!
Lucky to spend time with Oliver when he'd visit LDN to buy records from Fat Cat with Stefaan from Music Man he stayed at my flat in East LDN - a lovely lovely guy. Hello Oliver 🙂
I am really enjoying these interviews, but this one is my favourite. What a top man. Wonderful. Personally, New Beat was huge for me, and played that crucial part moving things from, say, the gothic dancefloor electronics of New Order (and Xymox and many others of course), but onto the dancefloor properly, and on into what would become acid house and all the rest. The interplay between BE, NL & UK at that time was so interesting and magical.
Ah nice! I was a bit too young to go out clubbing in that time, but I remember hearing it on the radio for the first time and I was like "Wowww, what is this???". Such a great energetic anthem! Still awesome after all these years.
Oh wow! I was a dancer on the 1st European Tour....UK, France, Belgium, Ibiza etc... we also shot a video for MTV Party Zone....there were so many changes of the live set up....by the time Top Of The Pops came, all original members (rapper & 2 dancers) were replaced by a larger crew...even the original rapper was replaced...I was too young to understand what was going on but there was a lot of drama behind the scene - what a memorable time 😎 - big tune!!!
Interesting to hear how this track came into being and how that unforgettable synth sound was actualised. I love a whole load of different styles and genres, sub genres of music, classical to industrial etc. Still haven't forgotten hearing this for the first time in an HMV shop in London and just thinking "what the hell is this?!" I went to the counter, asked for a copy and bought it on the spot. Still a favourite from back then to this day.
Arthur Brain I tried to explain a younger colleague the other day what we felt when we heard this track for the first time.... kinda impossible to explain, so indeed, he didn’t get it haha!
It was a stand out track for the time, not only for that sublime synth sound but the production values as well. The "out of history mix" is the definitive one as those chord sequences and the bass line just make the track complete. I liked a fair bit of Quadrophonia as well as T99. kinda the early days of boundary pushing rave before it went commercial...
Thank you! True story; my very first CD purchase ever was the CD Maxi single of "T99 - Anasthasia". Later I got the vinyl as well (both signed now by Olivier hehe)
Olivier, I've always been your fan #2 with all related to Conga Squad and C-Mos (maybe there is some one more fan than me out there). I really appreciate all the good times you have provided me dancing alone in my dark room.
Another classic warehouse banger did he also produce cubic 22 night in motion ?.. lot great tracks tht era on XL records from Belgium etc one label when vinyl shopping you never had listen too before purchasing.. I should be working but I'm down this rabbit hole lol.. onto nxt..
Twan, great interview. Oliver was DJing back to back with CJ Bolland last year in Dublin. Such a great show. Of course he played this track (The perc and truss techno remix of it he mentions here). Could you try and interview CJ too? So many good tracks to ask about.
Thank you very much! And yes, CJ Bolland is on my wish list. I hope this whole corona-crisis is over ASAP, since because there's no events, we also don't get any foreign DJs coming to The Netherlands for a few months. And I won't be able to travel to other countries either, so I hope (if he says "yes" of course!) that it will happen one day, but not sure when. Fingers crossed hehe
Thanks Dohan, me too hehe ;-) That's why I started with these vlogs, there are so many good stories and cool triva that should be shared with the world :) Glad you enjoyed it!
"What are you going to charge, la cuca de Mayo?" - what in the heck did they come up with the phrase you hear in "Anasthasia" during the gaps in the drops in that house-techno track? And who did that voice-over for that phrase?
I heard this first time at a rave in a huge indoor market (Time Rag Market Rave '91 on RUclips). The intro felt like GOD was descending upon us. The stab is from "Carl Orff - O Fortuna , Fortune plango vulnera"

Anasthasia is a stone cold classic. Just pure brilliance from beginning to end.
Thank you so much for this interview. T99 Anasthasia and Praga Khan injected with a poison are the most brilliant tracks in the history of techno.
One of the best song in Los Angeles California I played raves parties in 1991 good times.

Belgium was a real breeding ground for DJs and producers of electronic music. Many thanks to them.
Belgium thanks you Eclectikman. (I'm Belgian)👍 😁
I agree, ECLEKTIKMAN. 👍😊 For example... take "Charlotte de Witte" in today's times... Another excellent Belgian DJ!

Belguim is OK. The good boys in Front 242 came from there right? But it was Netherlands, Germany and Italy had the most impact.
T99 Children of Chaos is why I started producing music. Legendary work.
Vogel ah very nice!!!
without doubt T99 by Anasthasia is the greatest rave track ever created.
Big, big early worldwide hit.
It's testament to how good this tune is that I always get drawn back to it over and over again. Love it hard!

That as well, but first it came out on Belgian label “Who’s That Beat”. Then XL did license it from them from the UK market.
