    I run an AR 500 XL carrier with level 4 steel plates.(im a big guy) It is a fairly heavy setup but I like the durability, multi-hit capability and heat resistance when stored in a vehicle for long periods with the steel plates. As a Tactical Medic, NAR is the best place for medical gear. The "team" med kit is great but consider a CAT tourniquet in the center line of your body for self-application too. If it is off on one side, most people will have a hard time reaching across or around their plate carrier if wounded on that side.
    I also run 6 mags, two pistol mags, a blade and a chest mounted holster for an Glock and a small trauma kit. Oh yeah, also a back mounted Camelback. Heavy but very useful setup. Very little is worn on my belt. Thats just my setup and my 2 cents.
    Excellent video. Would be good to see more "setup" videos like trauma kits, carriers, go bags, etc.

      I wondered about the tourniquet on one side, and like to be able to reach with either hand, like you said. TQ's aren't very heavy, so maybe carry in multiple places.

    • @gatorbite3351
      @gatorbite3351 Год назад

      @@fog8969 Some recommend multiple tourniquets in multiple locations, such as upper body for arms and cargo pockets for leg wounds. I always recommend center of body up front. I also carry a trauma bag on tbe front of my carrier which has 2 more in it that can be reached by either hand. Another location which works well are the top of the plate carriers shoulder straps since they can also be reached by either hand. Where ever you decide, carry more than one, be able to reach them with both hands, always keep them in the same place and remember, your tourniquets are for you not someone else who is wounded.

    Only issue I have with a setup like this is the price. And I know what your going to say. How do you put a price on your life. And I believe they take advantage of that because it cost so much to get a good setup. Including myself I have 5 people in my family and to fit everyone with armor it would be thousands of dollars. So yes I would love to see CF do more body armor giveaways

    • @woodsghost9088
      @woodsghost9088 Год назад +6

      You can get budget stuff which is fine and effective. And you don't need to equip your whole family. Only equip the people who are less than 250 lbs and more than 100 lbs because armor will likely be an issue for anyone else. Unless you have a body builder who is 300 lbs then cool.
      RTS has steel plates for a good price and amazing spall protection. And some of their plates are a good weight.
      Battlesteel is what I use. There lvl 4 is great at stopping rounds and cheap.
      Condor MPOC is a good place carrier.
      Military surplus pouches are out there and cheap. Especially USMC gear. In fact, USMC plate carriers are out there (last I checked) and relatively well priced.
      I would not buy armor for anyone who won't train in it. So you should be able to get kitted in armor for $400-$500 per person and probably only equip 1-3 of your 5 people.

      If you want the carrier and pouches and stuff check out platforms people sell airsoft stuff on. I used to play Airsoft and know a lot of people that would buy good plate carrier and pouches and stuff since it got used a lot and the cheap stuff wouldn't hold up. I have purchased a lot of my gear 2nd hand like that and saved a bunch of money. Mira safety has very reasonably priced plates sold individually so you could always buy 1 at a time and spread the cost out over the long run.

    My favorite piece that carries from PC to PC is the placement of my IFAK. Yall are 100% right, its for me, but not to be used by me. It's not something that I need access to on the regular. So mine always found itself behind my left arm where my arm would be when I am in a standing squared off shooting position. It allowed me to have a support for that arm to help keep me in a steady position in the standing, but man was it next to impossible for me to access it if I needed to myself.

    The thing I would argue against the medical kit being in the back is that the standard for TCCC is "admister self aid" before you get the person. Having that self aid kit ready available makes the difference there

    I run an Agilite K19 as well. Level 4 ceramics w/ level 3 6x6 soft armor side inserts…you guys didn’t speak of the benefit of trauma pads behind your plates. I also have a concealable SafeLife 3a+ wrap around with stab/puncture resistance (I live downtown Chicago after all).

    every single piece of advice this guy is giving out is for a soldier who is part of the US Army with overhead air support medevac, and the full logistic backing of a massive military. Absolutely none of this applies to a guerrilla warfare situation where you have no support. so either you’re role-playing for fun and then go for it or if you’re planning to use this in the only war you might ever be in that would be a guerrilla war and you need to look at what Gorillas used in Vietnam not what soldiers use when they have endless support. also level four plates are to stop the 30-06 armor piercing steel round which almost doesn’t exist in America in any form so a level 3+ plate will stop every single bullet that will be around in America.
