I remember the year end vid where he thanked everyone including Tom for the ride along that he said kind of got his utube channel off the ground. Lucky us.
Right when you showed the caves entrance i was all in. Then you mentioned two hours in. hahah not so much. Then the light wow All in again. Those clouds and the light, heaven. Beautiful shots
Mixing serious landscape photography and humor under the right circumstances is pure genius. And you have it in the perfect proportions. Very informing and entertaining. Thank you sir.
Since my body won't let me go shooting like that anymore, I live vicariously through you guys. It's not too bad really, I'm sipping hot tea under a warm blanket watching these vids and those stunningly beautiful photos thinking.. He can have all that cold and all that goes with it! Still a little jealous though. Phenomenal photos Gavin!
You know what, I had this video on in the background whilst editing photos, i had to rewind many times to double check the lake name. i still don't hear anything else!
Magical images! And magical names! Uncle Grumpalumpus! He's a good sport for taking it. Now it's beer o'clock for me. Thanks for giving me a smile as I head to the fridge, and a sense of wonder for those images.
Without one of the most entertaining uploads and thous epic photos are somthing else. Thanks for sharing. All the beat from Tasmania.................Peter.
Superb Video Gavin. You and Adam make me laugh sooo much. The locations and scenery are absolutely awesome and that cloud formation was out of this world - surely? Your photographs are superb mate so i'm sure you will soon forget the cold - and be returning. Brent's pano was stunning too.
Your videos really are "The Dog's Bollox" I have watched many guys videos and I have to say I really enjoy yours the most. I think it is a combination of all the personalities coming together with all the talent and enthusiasm to share and create photographic growth in us subscribers. Thank you so much.
I heard it alright! Love your channel Gavin. You are a great and refreshing personality. Keep up the fantastically entertaining videos and I'm hoping to see you at San Josef Bay.
Sensational adventure and a very interesting looking place Gavin. The ice in that cave was amazing and I really enjoyed the images you captured and your explanation of what you were trying to achieve. I've watched a number of your videos now and you are certainly building a pretty compelling case for me to stick some of these locations on my location list. Thanks for sharing!
Hard to believe that you 'only' have 15k subscribers. Hands down one of the best landscape photography channels out there. Please continue your outstanding work!
WOW! What a stunning series of vlogs from Canada. Every single one a winner. I have laughed, learnt and sat back in awe at the amazing shots from all of you. Wish I could join you and Uncle Grumpy in San Josef Bay, I am sure it will be epic.
Getting my fototripper fix hahaha. It almost looks like the photo is upside down with the way those ice formations form and those clouds with that epic mountain scape was something else. Awesome as always !
Greetings! Great video, when you changed locations after the night cave segment I thought how do you follow that??? Well that sunset pretty much killed the question. Stunning shots and good humour to boot. There's only so much YT time in a day so hadn't expected to hit the sub button but like sub and bell for you today. Thanks for sharing and Cheers from BC
@fototripper yeah, time to get the a7r3 which will get you the Z100 batteries. I upgraded from the a7r2 and those terrible fw50 batteries. GREAT stuff man, love your channel.
Incredible photos Gavin! Also I really don't mind the blur on the foreground in the one image. The reflection of the mountain is still sharp and it really makes it the main focus of the image while you still get an idea of what's in the foreground.
Really enjoyed the video series on the Canadian Rockies. So much so, that I just spent a week up there. I had to see it for myself, but I mostly just wanted an excuse to try Tim Horton's coffee. Looking forward to watching your next adventure. P.S. Those lenticular cloud shots were amazing!!
Nice video Gavin, I see something on the rocks Pause @ 0:30 of the video past you guys .. Something Blue and when you Un Pause the video its like moving lol
Hey Gavin... I shoot landscapes too and I am an Olympus user basically for its toughness. No problem to shoot at these freezing temperatures, smaller weight with amazingly sharp lenses... and some other perks that makes it quite convenient for my needs as a landscape shooter. I know that a smaller sensor can be scaring, but, I found that it is more than enough if you know how to properly expose. You should give a try, specially when you are gonna face extreme conditions or extra long hikes. (btw, batteries are quite eternal)
1. Awesome shots both in the cave and catching those lenticular’s after everyone had gone home, jammy sod! B. The comedy catchphrases are some of the best yet, frozen phallus forest, trollop frost and creaming pantaloons were in my top 3 this week. iii. The outtakes must become a regular feature, how you both got through that piece at all, I will never know. Same time next week?
waiting all week for this! gotta get my double double first! ;) I'm moving out west...life looks too good there to not experience it! ...seriously considering it!!
Have you ever considered making your way to the east coast of Canada? Maybe you have already been here, and i just haven't seen those video yet. Love your sense of humor. You even got a chuckle from my teenage daughter, who wasn't even watching.
LOl that it is, she was playing a video game, paused it and everything. I can't even get her to pause for me. I'm glad to hear you will be on the east coast someday. There is a lot of beauty here. I hope to get out there this summer and finally start taking pictures. I have an anxiety disorder that has basically destroyed my life. I get my gear all packed up and ready to go, then the chest pains hit so bad that I think I am having a heart attack! I know my heart is fine, I know it is anxiety and that many do not understand how crippling it can be. I want to vlog my experiences of getting out there to help raise awareness for people with anxiety problems. But first I need to fight through my own. I'd be happy just to get out there nevermind vlogging. You mentioned in a different video that you hope to inspire people to just go out there and take pictures. I wanted you to know that you, and several others, have inspired me to get out there. I am so determined to beat my anxiety and go out there, I purchased a season pass to a local park here that has hiking trails for the novice and experienced alike. I've enlisted my daughter to come with me. I figure it is a good place to start. I tried going into the woods near my home with my daughter, and we happened upon a momma bear with her two cubs walking the same path. Luckily she was far enough away that nobody got hurt. I even managed to snag a few photos of her! Makes me wonder if you have encountered wildlife while on your adventures? And if you have anything to protect yourself if you do? I also wonder if you ever get nervous about going to a new place? Getting nervous and experiencing anxiety are not the same thing, but close enough. The worst part is I use to be out there everyday just enjoying nature, I didn't have a camera then. Now that I have one I can't seem to push past my anxiety. It is an embarrassing, and frustrating problem to have. I guess I am looking for any kind of advice at this point. I am getting tired of my back yard, though it is large and full of beautiful things! It is long past time for my to get my butt out there and just experience living in the moment again. I apologize for rambling on, this was only supposed to be a short message. Thank you for your videos and all the work you put into it. It does make a difference. Hope you have an amazing day :)
Not going to be the one to say to switch to a kit that handles the cold better (like Nikon ;)) BUT one thing I have found out helpful when it comes to shooting in subzero (Svalbard, Antarctic, Lapland) temps - get yourself a hydroflask and fill it with hot tea (or coffee if you prefer) - it lasts literally all day and keeps your insides (and therefore your outsides) toasty.
Nice shots in Ice Cave Gavin but those Lenticular cloud formations were worth the extra , extra Sony batteries + the reflections , hope you & your gear thor out sooner than later .
I bought an A7rII but its in limbo residing in the dark caverns of FedEx Ground's center of the earth realm of delivery. I hate winter so Im not concerned with battery life for now. Great photos, great video and love the entertaining side of your work. Awesome stuff man! Frozen ice dildo's.....LOL!!!!
Aww, c'mon Heaton, have more faith in the shot...after all, they believed you when you suggested another location & they had to believe it was more than just a "lone tree in the fog" type shot lol!
I also use a Sony camera (a6500), and at -35 the battery dies in 5 shots. I purchased on amazon a dummy battery which I intend to plug to a usb power pack (kept warm and nice) for sub-zero conditions. I hope this setup works!
Gavin, Not to sound like an ass, but that cave location has more polyps than my last colonoscopy... Nice work, Bud! Loving the Rasta-esque tunes. Thank-You, Mike
Absolutely stunning scene and shots. Now to win the lottery to be able to come on a workshop 👍👍👍

Fantastic! And Lake Mini-Wanker sounds like a perfect place for Gavin Hardcastle.
Cheeky buggerence!
You know what, I had this video on in the background whilst editing photos, i had to rewind many times to double check the lake name. i still don't hear anything else!
Hello Gavin, Magic! Magic! And oh Yes! It was Magic...
Magical images! And magical names! Uncle Grumpalumpus! He's a good sport for taking it. Now it's beer o'clock for me. Thanks for giving me a smile as I head to the fridge, and a sense of wonder for those images.
I bloody love that image with Brent in it from previously. Absolutely brilliant, shows scale and just adds that extra element.
Wow! Wow! Wow!
Without one of the most entertaining uploads and thous epic photos are somthing else. Thanks for sharing.

The “wave cloud” and the alpenglow is the best for me. Thnx Gavig.
Stunning locations once again with images to match. It must be such hard work walking in that snow, cold and trying to keep your concentration
I heard it alright! Love your channel Gavin. You are a great and refreshing personality. Keep up the fantastically entertaining videos and I'm hoping to see you at San Josef Bay.
Brent, your pano was absolutely stunning!!! Great work man!

Loved the ice caves and spectacular cloud formations. I am guessing you won't become a Sony Ambassador any time soon. Great video, Gavin!
That was fun to watch. Tough to get much better than those lenticular cloud formations. Absolutely stellar Gavin.
Hard to believe that you 'only' have 15k subscribers. Hands down one of the best landscape photography channels out there. Please continue your outstanding work!
Thres-mendous!!! That was some glorious images you captured Gavin. What's more you had a great time there.

Grumpy & co must be really peeved after leaving to see you getting those lenticulars... wowser :) Cracking (sorry couldnt resist) episode.
The image from two years earlier was just down right juicealicious!

Mate, thats an awesome Thumbnail! THUMBNAIL!!!
Those lenticulars were beautiful. Lucky bastards.
Sooo epic!

You betcha!
Just WOW! :)
Awesome video. My new favourite word: "lenticular ".
It's a good'un
They are the best. Look like flying saucers sometimes. If you get one lone over a peak it's the pizazz.
9:47 "That's the tip that I would give you..." :)

I recently picked up a set of super cheap submersible multi-colour multi-function LED lights that I'd love to take into a place like that cave.
Sorry about that slip-fall in the cave Gavin. I saw it on Adam's video. :)
For cold weather like - 40, i use my Canon 1D Mark III That big monster...

partially soiled.

Sorry to hear about your plundered passage :(
Dam living on the other side of the world otherwise I’d be at the work shop. Oh well back to dreaming of shooting a phallic filled cave
