I would airbrush the tracks instead of handpainting. Safes a lot of time. Bud, the result of your work is one of the best I've seen so far. Thumbs up👍. Greetings from the Čech Republic.
Thanks for your comment and compliment! I also think that an airbrush would be better for a large layout. Eventually, there are many ways to ballast and this is just one of those.
Thank you. Thank you. Your videos are very detailed. You showed us the little things in such a simple way. Before I felt intimidated. After watching your video I feel much more confident about the process. Thanks for sharing . Hope to see more.Regards.
Thank you very much, also ballasting my layout, but i dont have cork bed, but with your tutorial im happy to know im not the only one, you give me a lot of great look!!
Not at all, it is well deserved praise by anyone's standard. Listen, if they give thumbs down to Elvis, nobody's got a chance of avoiding them! They're just mischief makers. Keep up the good work.
I have seen other railroad modelers use an old nylon over the end of the vacuum cleaner in order to pick up the extra gas so that it can be more easily used later after being returned to its container.
Great techniques re the ballast but DO NOT use abrasives on the rail surfaces! Micro scratches in the surface will gather dirt and impair electrical contact.
I have often wondered exactly how to remove glue from the railhead - or stop it getting on there in the first place. I think a latex masking fluid is probably the best idea. Opinions?
Less used rails i wipe down with dry cotton balls maybe a bit of alcohol but just a pinch (clean them enough for electrical contact). Heavy used rails same but I dont paint the surfaces of those at all
Wow is all i can say. Very impressed with the result. I have always had a problem when i do the glue mixture around the switches..sometimes they lose contact. How do you keep them from getting glued in position? Love the result from the static grass. Got to get me one of those!
Thanks! In this diorama the switch did not have to work, but when it should, then I try to move the points continuously while ballasting. I also use just a little bit of glue per time. When it's done and the glue is drying, I keep switching it. If it seems that there is ballast or glue somewhere in the wrong place, I immediately remove it. It's still a bit of a risk, but I also don't like a switch without ballast, so the risk is fine to me. (hope this message has no weird errors, I'm not sure about certain terms in English :))
Thank you! I think you can also use this method for N scale with finer ballast. I have no experience making grass in N scale, but I think 4 mm fibers from Woodland Scenics are OK for some wild greenery.

There's lots of other ballasting videos, but this one really captures how much a lightly-used siding gets overwhelmed by grass!
Brilliant and makes a change to actually see someone working on a layout instead of just talking about it then showing the finished result keep it up
This is amazing!!! If I didn't know it was a mockup, I would have thought it was real
ive seen a ton of how to ballast track but this The BEST ballast video that i have ever seen hands down!!!!!
Ziet er fantastisch uit! Dank voor de video!

You have done a great job and the model is looking very real
Amazing results. Cheers from the US
Absolutely fantastic piece of modelling, thanks for sharing.

WOW! Awesome fine detail. Great work and patience.
Outstanding realism. Very nicely done.

Well done. Thank you.
Great piece of video and whats even greater is the subtitles scripe, not straining to understand what is being said, keep up the good work
This is truly inspiring. Thanks for the detailed video, the result is so real.

Absolutely brilliant what a great job proper setup 👍🚂😎
Awesome video, great channel!
Thank you very much!
You are a model genius. Congratulations! It is perfect.
Very nice. I will surely apply your techniques
Super réaliste .... Quel beau travail et une formidable passion ! Bravo ...
Very cool. I like the step by step and actual process. Thank you for the watch 👍
scape the side of are rusting old paint tin and weather the side of the track and anying were else to Bing out the rustic look so it looks realistic.
Found that Play-Sand works great for ballast and at around $4 per 50lb bag, is very economical and can be used on scenery.
A tip...use color powder like umbra brown by dirt on the tracks with a brush on it. Clean up with the vacuum cleaner.
Awesome job
VERY nice, great detail.
Fantastic! No words...
What skill and patience - going to have a lot of practice to meet such standard!
Thank you very much, also ballasting my layout, but i dont have cork bed, but with your tutorial im happy to know im not the only one, you give me a lot of great look!!
Corkboard is great but foam sheeting for insulation is good too.
Thank you for sharing. Excellent work. How do you avoid the points getting stuck?
Leuk om te zien!
Geeft weer nieuwe inspiratie!
:)
Excelente trabajo!! 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍 Felicitaciones!! Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
Incredible - whoever's given you a thumbs down for this must be very envious of your skill.
Very kind, thank you! It would be interesting to know the real reason for a thumb down, there is always room for improvement.

Hi. Very interresting end realistic. What do you use to clean the upper surface of the track? Is it sandpaper?
Nicely done sir!!!!
Heel mooi gedaan, Myron! Erg onder de indruk!
Magnifique ! 👌🇫🇷
Wow! Which static grass fiber brand are you using here?

Where do you get the Anita Decor 210? And can you get it in grey color? Cheers from eastern TN
Fantastic job!
Wow thanks extremely helpful

@@tanyajackson3833 Painters tape on the rail heads can help keep it off when Ballasting, painting and gluing
Very realistic!
Great skill m8 well done
Love this
Ik ga dit volgen! goed bezig Myron!
adding dish soap also allows the glue mix to seep into the ballast without leaving the shiny top sheen of glue left behind
The most important tool: Patience. Its free, yet hard to get.
Mooi gemaakt hoor!
Wow very nice job
Great video and diorama!
amazing..i love it!
Very good....alot of these model railroaders fail at this....
Trial and error. After all we dont learn unless we make some mistakes
Fantastic & great.
Hi,
Love your colours on the weathering for the ballast can you tell me what colours you used, many thanks.
I also need it!
Incredible creativity 👍
What material did u use to imitate the ground? U didnt mention it in the video
Great job! Looks really good! 👍👍
[thank, you for youre great video]👍
beautiful and good job..!
Yes fantastic video thank you I’m going to try that on my layout thank you.
Amazing. Where can I learn more about this static grass voodoo????
Watch Luke Towen videos about making dioramas. It can all be applied to making a model railway layout.
Hello, a beautiful video.
Greetings Gert
Very nice track work here, great video for helping others..
Uitstekend!
What are the switch machines and where did you get them?????
Hi, what did you use to clean the track after you painted ?
Hello J4FT. I am thinking he used a Bright Boy. It is like a hardened eraser that is made for model railroading.
Less used rails i wipe down with dry cotton balls maybe a bit of alcohol but just a pinch (clean them enough for electrical contact). Heavy used rails same but I dont paint the surfaces of those at all

Question: how the grass grow so quickly? What is the name of seed?
Btw amazing video!
Hammer 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Gaaf gedaan!
Way cool!
In N scale i could do the same? Is there something similar in N scale for the long grass?
It look so realistic 0.O!
Thank you! I think you can also use this method for N scale with finer ballast. I have no experience making grass in N scale, but I think 4 mm fibers from Woodland Scenics are OK for some wild greenery.
@@spoorinmodel Thx for the answer!
Beauteful
Great video ! Good Job , but i wouldnt ballast the moving part of the switch. The ballast could give you some problems...
Not as much problem as cutting the switch in half just before the frog…
Mooi gedaan 👍
Amazing!!!
Bloody amazing!
what the backsound name ????

Great video tutorial ! ;-)
