One of the most helpful videos, thanks! One question, I have a pea gravel surface where I'm planning to put it, do you think that's ok, or should I put sand down first as a couple sites have recommended? Thanks!
Hey there, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I have a question about other uses: how strong is the pull of that pump? Would this be safe for ducks, or would they get stuck on the inlet when they dive? Would the pump and filter be able to handle crud like they produce? I'm emptying and refilling mine to clean it at the moment and I'm researching alternatives! Thanks a whole lot! 😁
J12 Ranch and Livestock Osguthorpe yep, they have been MUCH more popular than I anticipated this year. Here’s an alternative: amzn.to/2IzDZ7D It’s more expensive and slower shipping but I can’t find them anywhere else 😑

We are also looking to do this all year round even in the winter. We have a covered gazebo which we will be using :). Debating of just buying a hot tub but they cost way to much especially the hydro! Thanks for the great video One question? I couldn't find the 1500 filter pump i did find the 1000 besides the hose adapters is that ill i need to buy extra besides the other parts u have on the links?
I see this pump comes with 1.5'' hoses. But the Intex Inlet Strainer W Valve kit you suggest says it comes with 2 strainer connectors for 1.25'' fittings. Will this all work together? Thanks in advance for your time and thanks for the video!
Thanks for the helpful video. On your website, you show the additional parts needed to complete the setup. If we decided to buy the sand filter you suggest instead, do we order the same additional parts or is there another list of parts to purchase?
Thanks for making these videos! Going with the setup you’re recommending but thinking about upgrading to the Intex pump with the sand filter. Do you think it will work just as well?
I’ve seen your video on no drill stock tank... but we don’t really understand how that works... does it work? We don’t want to have to drill ours and just use the full tank... we are also having trouble getting the pump/and filter... trouble finding them. Any suggestion on the beat for no drill and suggestions how to make it work best
Amazon for the pump. They are price gouging like crazy though. I just paid 300 for a sand filter Intex 16inch. As far as the hoses just hang over side and secure with clamps. (Make sure it’s really secure) I would cut the holes though. Much more clean install
We finished our set up last night and we realized that the brand new stock tank has a small leak on the bottom seal. We only lost half an inch of water over night but I was wondering if you have any tips on how to fix the leak. Thank you. Great videos!!!
So, I put together the entire thing (with Caulk) and it looks great. One final question though: have you experienced any rusting or corrosion with the chlorine? I am a bit concerned about that. I read some people coat the entire inside with Flex Seal to prevent corrosion. Does it work? Thanks again for the video! It was extremely helpful!
Great question! I have been using 2-3 one inch tabs per week and haven't experienced any premature corrosion so far. This results in free chlorine levels at about the same level as our drinking water (1-4 PPM), so its enough to keep algae and bugs from growing, but its not offensive. That said, DO NOT let the chlorine tabs (or small pieces) fall on the bottom of the tank they will corrode it. I had one sit on the bottom for a day and it left a mark.
@@stocktankpools4980 what should one do for existing rust spots before refilling? Just watch and swap for a new pool when it gets really bad? Or is there a way to treat? We had no issues in summer 1. This year we flipped to prep and refill there are a few rust spots. Will it cloud the water? So we just roll with it as these pools are somewhat temporary anyway? Thank you! 🌞
I am installing a stock tank 8'. Where can I purchase the Intex 1500 GPH Model # 635T, Out put valve to pump? The pump I ordered did not include it. I am having a hard time locating a company that carries it.
We have the Intex pump recommended in the video. We have hit the 2 week mark and noticed a significant decrease in the water flow in and out. I cleaned out the filter, primed the pump and now barely feel any type of water coming out. No bubbles like it was in the beginning. All air has been cleared out of the lines and the pump... Any suggestions??
Hey Sara! There might be a clog where the hose connects to the pump (there’s another small strainer there). Close your valves and disconnect both hoses from the pump and see if anything is stuck there.
If you get 3b alternate inlet strainer, do you need to get a different size hole saw (ex. 2-1/2" instead of 2-3/4")? I noticed 3b is 2-1/4" in lieu of the 2-1/2" you mentioned 3a was. Great videos by the way! :)
jennifer schubert great question! The inlet on 3b should be exactly the same size as the outlet that comes with the pump, so it should be fine. They might be referring to inside diameter of the threads, which is slightly narrower than the outside.
Anna Picorale you could use a 300, 500, or 1000 gal/hr pump. In fact, I believe the 300 gph pumps are the only ones available on Amazon right now. However, you will need to check the pump to see if it comes with threaded connectors for the 1-1/4” hoses (the 1500 gph pump comes with larger 1-1/2” hoses). If not, you purchase my kit for 1-1/4” hoses here: shop.stocktankpool.net
Look on ebay..... I was having a hard time finding one too but I just scored one and that source sold out of 10 in a matter of minutes. Check daily... Good Luck!
Help! I have the intex krystal 2500 and I’m struggling how to install the inlet without buying the extra piece (it’s sold out) can you help with ok how to do the inlet with only what is in the box?
Hi Tazia! The Intex pumps come with the outlet jet, but the inlet strainer and nut from Intex is sold out. To alleviate this, I designed and started selling my own inlet strainer kits here! stocktankpool.net/strainer
Anyone ground/bond their stock tank pool using this same filter/pool set up. I just finished setting mine up and have not seen any videos talking about doing this. Just wanted to see if this filter system, etc. prevented any current running to the pool, etc.
Where did you find the bestway inlet combo? I actually have a bestway pump that im trying to use for my stock tank and the intex plunger valves dont fit
Great vid thanks. Just one question from me: how many volts is your drill and what sort of hole saw bit is that? Off to home Depot tomorrow morning. Thx!!
Thanks for this video! Could you please tell me what is the purpose of the inlet/valve combo you show? Does the Intex pump come without any valves? Meaning, am I supposed to just plug them directly to the pool? And why did you use a different brand? I'm a bit confused because later in the video you show a pair of Intex valves and toss one of them away... Also, what is the diameter of the hoses? I ordered the 2500 gph intex pump but can't find info on the hose size to buy all the other stuff before the pump arrives Thanks!
Hello! Alejandro! Good questions! The pump does not come with any valves, but they are strongly recommended to make it easier to change the filters (without getting water in your lap). The Bestway combo came with the threaded inlet strainer connector (the dark gray part) and one valve. However, I ordered a two pack of valves from Intex (I would have ordered a single pack but they weren't available at the time, but they are now). The pump does *not* come with the threaded inlet strainer, but it does come with the threaded outlet connector (this is the lighter gray part that jets into the pool). The hoses are the same diameter as your pump (1.5" diameter). The inlet strainer is currently sold out pretty much everywhere at the moment, but I'm working on manufacturing a replacement which should be available in a few weeks! Stay tuned!

@@brianplaster7853 I bought this kit, which now shows as out of stock: www.walmart.com/ip/Intex-26005E-Above-Ground-Swimming-Pool-Inlet-Air-Water-Jet-Replacement-Part-Kit/976218084 and it has the strainer as well as an extra inlet, which is not useful because the pump comes with one. I haven't finished putting everything together, but it seems it will work!
At 3:45 you mention a fitting that comes with the Intex pump. People say it doesn't come with that, only the hoses. Confused and need help ordering everything I need for the 8x2 stock tank pool I want to build...
Truthfully, I left it connected and full last winter and it did fine (surprisingly). It froze over multiple times. I was worried the pump broke due to freezing, but it started right up without any leaks. This year, I'm planning to close the valves, disconnect the pump and and leave it full
Hmm, try unscrewing the valve on top of the pump to release air from it, once water comes out then screw it back in. Otherwise either your valves may be closed or the hoses are reversed?
We've been able to locate all of the parts except for the strainer nut (intex #10256). Does anyone know of an alternative for this part? Thanks for the video!
I just bought the 8ft plastic stock tank from TSC. Do you think the fit of the components will work against the plastic sidewall without silicone? Bummer about the missing part, I hadn't put much thought about using a pump but now have a shopping list and new a perspective, thank you for this!
I have a small stock tank and purchased the drill bit and the pkg. of Intex valves. My filter is the Intex 603 (530 GPH) (Krystal Klear Cartridge Filter Pump) because the stock tank is smaller than the large one on this video. It looks like the drill diameter is larger than the diameter of the pump hoses. I have not drilled yet and with this filter pump it appears I may not need the additional Intex valves and may need to purchase a smaller drill metal hole saw. I am beginning to work on the stock tank, but don't want to drill holes too large and have parts I am not able to use. Would you please advise me? I checked the website, but did not see an area for questions. Thank you.
Your parts list doesn't have the water jet outlet for the water supply line that's on the inside of the pool, or am I missing something? There's the inlet combo with strainer for pulling water out of the pool to the filter, the additional Intex valve for the water supply line from the filter back into the pool, but not the water jet on the inside of the pool that connects to the Intex valve part you have lists that's on the outside of the pool.
I have a question. 3B says as an alternative to 3A, I should get the 3 parts listed, plus #5. then when you look at #5, it says not needed if you are purchasing 3B. any thoughts on that?
Hey I was wondering if the gfi on my stock tank pool pump Intex 1500 makes you safe from being electrocuted. Someone posted something on Facebook about it and I want to make sure it’s safe.
Keith Derington soooo my husband and I just ran into the same problem. So we make our own pump using a transfer pump from Lowe’s and a complete home water filter. If works perfect!!!!
Where can you find the plunger valve w/ strainer? It’s no longer available on Amazon and I’ve looked EVERYWHERE and cannot find it! 😫 is there something else we can use?
Tiffany Hendry yes, unfortunately it’s been sold out for the last two weeks! I’ve checked everywhere as well. For now, you could drape the inlet hose over the side of the tank (perhaps with a clamp to keep it in place) until they’re back in stock? I did that all of last summer and while it’s a little janky, it works!
Tiffany Hendry oh no! In a pinch you could try this part (it’s the same outlet that comes with the pump). Just be sure to order a “strainer nut”, an air jet valve cap, and a black rubber gasket (if it doesn’t come with one). I just ordered one to see if they’ll work, so I haven’t tested it yet. www.intexcorp.com/replacement-parts/above-ground-pools/ultra-frame/18ft-x-52in/2018/26331eh/pump/12372-inlet-threaded-air-connector-1900-2500/

Should I order the 1,000 or the 1,500 filter pump?
One of the most helpful videos, thanks! One question, I have a pea gravel surface where I'm planning to put it, do you think that's ok, or should I put sand down first as a couple sites have recommended? Thanks!
Hi Ellie! Pea gravel should be fine! "Pointy" rocks or anything bigger than 1/2" will make little dents in the bottom of the tank though.
What happens if you use the pump without the inlet strainer? And can you just DIY some kind of mesh/screen until they come back in stock?
Hey there, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I have a question about other uses: how strong is the pull of that pump? Would this be safe for ducks, or would they get stuck on the inlet when they dive? Would the pump and filter be able to handle crud like they produce? I'm emptying and refilling mine to clean it at the moment and I'm researching alternatives! Thanks a whole lot! 😁
I can’t find a inlet valve they are sold out on amazon. What is the link to where you got the different one than Intex? thanks
J12 Ranch and Livestock Osguthorpe yep, they have been MUCH more popular than I anticipated this year. Here’s an alternative: amzn.to/2IzDZ7D
It’s more expensive and slower shipping but I can’t find them anywhere else 😑
@@stocktankpools4980 Here are the ones I got... www.amazon.com/Intex-26005E-LARGE-Fittings-1900-2500GPH-Strainers/dp/B07NY58MCC (a little pricey, but it was getting hot outside!)
Stupid question some of you may know this question. We wanna go 100% solar no hydro. Anyway we can do this without sacrificing the pools water? We are also looking to do this all year round even in the winter. We have a covered gazebo which we will be using :). Debating of just buying a hot tub but they cost way to much especially the hydro! I can get one for free right now and apparently it works but don’t wanna spend the money on an electrician and operating it via hydro!
Thanks for the great video
One question?
I am having trouble finding the best way inlet/valve combo. When I click the link it doesn't take me to the right place.
Thanks for making these videos! Going with the setup you’re recommending but thinking about upgrading to the Intex pump with the sand filter. Do you think it will work just as well?
Yep, the Intex 10" sand filter is a great alternative! Link here >>> amzn.to/3bClxHT
Stock Tank Pools already ordered! Now if I can only find a stock tank in stock in California! Lol
Can you add this to a wood burning hot tub?
I’ve seen your video on no drill stock tank... but we don’t really understand how that works... does it work? We don’t want to have to drill ours and just use the full tank... we are also having trouble getting the pump/and filter... trouble finding them. Any suggestion on the beat for no drill and suggestions how to make it work best
Amanda Theiben same question. Don’t want to drill. Can you just hang hoses over side?
Amazon for the pump. They are price gouging like crazy though. I just paid 300 for a sand filter Intex 16inch. As far as the hoses just hang over side and secure with clamps. (Make sure it’s really secure) I would cut the holes though. Much more clean install
We finished our set up last night and we realized that the brand new stock tank has a small leak on the bottom seal. We only lost half an inch of water over night but I was wondering if you have any tips on how to fix the leak. Thank you. Great videos!!!
Try caulking it. You'll have to drain the tank and repair it.
Use some J-B Weld 8267 SteelStik Steel Reinforced Epoxy Putty Stick
Wish I could post a picture inspired by this video to the comments 😩
I wish you could too! Are you on Facebook or Instagram?
Can you put the same pump setup on a poly pool?
Telling me where you got the parts
How would you install the pump if you want to put the tank below ground?
Daniel Eggers good question! I’ve seen some create a cavity on one side of their tank for the filter pump, hoses, and fittings.
Can you suggest a smaller pump? I have limited space and want to use an oval tank that is only 300 gallons. That pump says minimum 700.
Thanks for the video
I have been looking for the pool pump everywhere. They are all sold out. Any ideas who might have one?
Look on ebay..... I was having a hard time finding one too but I just scored one and that source sold out of 10 in a matter of minutes. Check daily... Good Luck!
The filter is out of stock EVERYWHERE! Is there any alternative option you would recommend? Thank you for these videos!!!
Keep an eye on ebay. Mine is supposed to arrive this week.
@@brannonchurch thank you! I am keeping an eye...of course people are price gouging! LOL
Have you ever patched a hole in the bottom of the tank? Any suggestions?
I feel like I have the pieces but somehow it’s not working!
Anyone ground/bond their stock tank pool using this same filter/pool set up. I just finished setting mine up and have not seen any videos talking about doing this. Just wanted to see if this filter system, etc. prevented any current running to the pool, etc.
Where can I see the list of pump and other supplies that you use here? I want to do this pls help where I can find it.
Where did you find the bestway inlet combo? I actually have a bestway pump that im trying to use for my stock tank and the intex plunger valves dont fit
Haylie Gentilozzi it sold out about a month ago. In the meantime I started selling 3D printed inlet kits here! Stocktankpool.net/strainer
Great vid thanks. Just one question from me: how many volts is your drill and what sort of hole saw bit is that? Off to home Depot tomorrow morning. Thx!!
could you just sink the intake pump to the bottom and not cut into the tank?
That would destroy it as it is not meant for that
Worked for us for 2 years btw
Thanks for this video! Could you please tell me what is the purpose of the inlet/valve combo you show? Does the Intex pump come without any valves? Meaning, am I supposed to just plug them directly to the pool? And why did you use a different brand? I'm a bit confused because later in the video you show a pair of Intex valves and toss one of them away...
Also, what is the diameter of the hoses? I ordered the 2500 gph intex pump but can't find info on the hose size to buy all the other stuff before the pump arrives
Thanks!
Hello! Stay tuned!
@@stocktankpools4980 Thanks for the thorough response! I ended up buying a kit I found online with two valves and what seemed to be the inlet strainer... I hope it works!
Alejandro Gutiérrez hi
Did your inlet strainer work. I’m desperate to get my stock tank pool going. I can’t find one anywhere
Doesn't come with it. You must buy the inlet separate or buy another outlet valve from Intex and use that.
Hi. Do you close it for winter? Do you disassemble the pump and everything?
Truthfully, I left it connected and full last winter and it did fine (surprisingly). It froze over multiple times. I was worried the pump broke due to freezing, but it started right up without any leaks. This year, I'm planning to close the valves, disconnect the pump and and leave it full
This was so great and easy. Thank you. I am having trouble my intank pump it doesn’t pull or extract water like in your video any tips???
Hmm, try unscrewing the valve on top of the pump to release air from it, once water comes out then screw it back in. Otherwise either your valves may be closed or the hoses are reversed?
I need help! Been working on our stock tank for two months now and can’t seem to get it to work. Is there anyway I can run some stuff by you?
I wish I would get them in England
We've been able to locate all of the parts except for the strainer nut (intex #10256). Does anyone know of an alternative for this part? Thanks for the video!
same
I just bought the 8ft plastic stock tank from TSC. Do you think the fit of the components will work against the plastic sidewall without silicone? Bummer about the missing part, I hadn't put much thought about using a pump but now have a shopping list and new a perspective, thank you for this!
I would say yes. I got the galvanized one, but as long as the sides are smooth and flush against the fittings, you should be good.
Thank you.
You and me both buddy.
Hello can a 2500 filter be used instead of the 1500
Is that a 6’ or 8’ stock pool?
Your parts list doesn't have the water jet outlet for the water supply line that's on the inside of the pool, or am I missing something? There's the inlet combo with strainer for pulling water out of the pool to the filter, the additional Intex valve for the water supply line from the filter back into the pool, but not the water jet on the inside of the pool that connects to the Intex valve part you have lists that's on the outside of the pool.
PS the part I don't see on the list is on 5:56 mark of the video

Hey I was wondering if the gfi on my stock tank pool pump Intex 1500 makes you safe from being electrocuted. Someone posted something on Facebook about it and I want to make sure it’s safe.
Maria Hunter the pump with a GFI plug is safe. They’re made for steel-framed above ground pools.
if I install 1 8' and 2 6' stock tanks will I need 3 pumps or can one big pump handle all 3?
So.. Intex pumps are OUT OF STOCK. Any recommendations on a replacement?
Keith Derington soooo my husband and I just ran into the same problem. So we make our own pump using a transfer pump from Lowe’s and a complete home water filter. If works perfect!!!!

i got an inflow nozzle that says for 1900 gal and up. will it work with 1500 gal pump?
Do you need a permit. ???
Where can you find the plunger valve w/ strainer? It’s no longer available on Amazon and I’ve looked EVERYWHERE and cannot find it! 😫 is there something else we can use?
Tiffany Hendry yes, unfortunately it’s been sold out for the last two weeks! I’ve checked everywhere as well. For now, you could drape the inlet hose over the side of the tank (perhaps with a clamp to keep it in place) until they’re back in stock? I did that all of last summer and while it’s a little janky, it works!
We already cut the hole 😫🙈 before we realized we didn’t have that part and that it’s impossible to find
