This is most likely the very best unboxing video of the OKJ Bronco that I have yet seen. Very thorough. I think the Bronco is probably the best commercially produced drum smoker especially in the size (30 gallon) and price range (sub $400). I have one of the the competitor’s cookers and I’m familiar with the other main competitor, both are good but I think the Bronco is likely better, even if they cook good food exactly same, the additions such as wheels, side shelf and hinged lid make it the better better option. Drum style smokers are a fantastic alternative to off sets. Heat and smoke rise, a lot of expense and effort is made trying to make heat and smoke go sideways. Therefore drum smokers are more efficient. I think you will love this unit!
Thank you Lew for the nice words about this video!! I agree the Bronco just has a lot of nice added features and it certainly is in a great price range!! Plus I think for first time users the Bronco is one of the easiest to get started on your BBQ fun! Take care and I hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend bro!!!
Just bought my first OKLAHOMA JOE’S BRONCO SMOKER upon my sons recommendation and so I found this channel and SPOT ON to what he told me to do I’ve never smoked anything so I’m super excited Definitely a new fan
Just found your channel researching the Bronco. Not sure if I'm watching a DIY video, a comedy or a BBQ channel but you got me to like and subscribe! Looking forward to watching the next vid in the series. Keep up the great work.
Welcome to the Dead Broke BBQ Nation Darryl and I will be getting the Bronco out of storage soon and film a couple more cooks on it! Thanks for watching and ya my style can't really be labeled boring!!! ha ha
I love my bronco , I only had one bolt that didn't line up on the barrel assembly. I was gonna drill out the hole a little but I didn't have my drill and I was ready to fire it up. It leaked the first few cooks but not any more. It's a solid design and very versatile.
This cooker is really soldi Brian! I have a few BBQ friends that own one already and they absolutely love theirs! Tomorrow I will do some simple grilled chicken breasts on it! Then I am thinking some seafood!!! I need a few more seafood cooks for the channel! Have a great weekend bro and enjoy yourself!!
Thanks Darrin and ya I got a quick grilled chicken breast video coming and then I need to get this going on a brisket cook! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!!
That’s one sweet cooker from everything I’ve seen. The editing is seriously impressive and of course the trademark Ricer humor hah. Awesome job brother! Here’s to a great memorial weekend!
Ya Bimp this is going to be a fun cooker! From what I have heard this is a great beginners smoker!!! Tomorrow the Bronco gets a work out! Like always bro, thanks for watching and have a great Memorial Day weekend dude!
Just bought a brand new one in the box for 200 bucks and after watching your video, I cant wait to hang some beef ribs and smoke/grill some fish and chicken. Looks like it holds temps well and that's what made me give in. Great review, it made me subscribe👍.
It does a dang good job for how cheap this barrel is!! Holds temps pretty good and I never really had any issues with it! Have fun and thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for watching and yes this is a cool little cooker for sure! Hope U2 are having a great weekend and I appreciate you stopping in and leaving a comment!!
Can’t wait to see what your cooking. I’m really wanting to see if this is the smoker for me. I’m a noob to the smoking world. It’s at a great price point for a beginner.
Josh this is a very easy cooker to run and you are exactly right, it is priced right!! This cooker is so easy my 12 & 13 year old boys can run it!! Cooks coming soon bro and have a great weekend!!
Ya I just enjoy those long charcoal cooks and time to polish up my skills again. been spoiled running the pellets for the past 9 months!! hahaha Have a great BBQ weekend Brian!!
Thanks for the video and I'm a Wisconsinite too. It helped seeing the assembly before I picked it up. Where was your axle? I got to the point of putting the wheels on and could not find the axle. So I went and re-watched your unboxing again. You showed the axle right after you separated/pulled out the lower body so I thought oh, I left it inside. So I took it apart and it wasn't in there. But while apart I saw it through the intake hole underneath the bottom Styrofoam. So mine was in the bottom of the box between the bottom cardboard and the Styrofoam. They tell you to leave it upside down in the Styrofoam to assemble it, they should mention oh hey, the axle's under there... 😁 Oh and ah, what was the spray you used during the burnoff, like Pam?
Good stuff! I like that the inlet comes in from the center I'd worry about ash getting in there and choking it off, maybe you will have to blow it out every now and then to make sure it doesn't get clogged? Looking forward to seeing more on this cooker!
Thanks Dash! There is a ring with holes for the air on the sides and then the ash pan sits on top of that. But ya they say in the manual a guy should clean it out from time to time. I appreciate you watching bro and have a great Memorial Day Weekend!!!
Awesome Scott!!!! Have fun brother and get that thing together and start making some bbq!!! You are going to love this little drum!!! Take care and have a great week!!!
Whats good Boss. Funny that you did this unboxing and I just bought this and I put it together yesterday when I was smoking my ribs. I'm doing the first burn off now sense I want to try some pulled pork on it for starters then a Brisket on Monday. I'll let you know how she handles. Thank you for all that you do.
Awesome Frank!! This is a great little cooker and excited to get that charcoal running again! I am filming a chicken breast video tomorrow. My wife is addicted to Butcher BBQ Sweet Chipotle and skinless chicken breasts!! Probably do a Pork Butt after that then a Brisket. But I also got some Lobster tails so I might just grill them up on the Bronco! Thanks for watching bro and have a great BBQ Weekend!
Ya I am excited to get some protein through it and this weekend will be a good time to crank it up!! Thanks for watching and have a great Memorial Day Weekend!
I was hoping you could provide some first hand experience. I am trying to decide between the pitboss 1100 and the okj dlx. Price is essentially a wash. I was curious what you think the strengths and weaknesses are of both and which you would recommend after using them?
Hi Christopher-well both are very good at smoking protein. The DLX is better at searing but you have to dump the pellets because it gets crazy hot and after the cook you could get a couple pellets to burn back through the auger. The Pit Boss is really hot on the right side and cooler on the left. The DLX does not have that big of a temp swing from side to side in the pit but runs hotter than what the controller say (at least on mine it does). Hope this helps and have a great week!
Thanks for joining the Dead Broke BBQ Nation!!! I have a couple videos where the audio blew up but for the most part I can typically dial it in!! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!!!
Hahaha ya Patrick we had a topical heat wave!!! hahah But sounds like it is going to be a nice weekend for BBQ for sure! Thanks for watching bro and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
Never heard of that. If you want to wash it out, go for it, this ain't Russia!! ha ha I just sprayed it down and cooked it out like I always do. Thanks for watching!!
Dead Broke BBQ for sure! I’m curious how temperature control will be. If low and slow is possible. I’m also throwing the idea of an offset around. So many decisions! Hahaha
It is very easy to low N slow with this cooker. I have other fellow Tuber friends that can get 10 hours out of this cooker. Yes I always want more cookers!!! hahahaha
Hahahah well he was here but ended up on the cutting room floor this time! hahaha Thanks for watching Johnny and I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend brother!!
Hey buddy if you have any wild cherry trees up there try burning some in there next. The greener the better. It will give your smoker the most shiney seasoning you ever seen and lasts a long time! That a trick I been using for years. An old man told me about it a long time ago
Now that is an awesome pro tip HillBilly!! Thanks for sharing that with me!! We have wild cherry up here and I actually have a couple back in the swimming pool (swamp)!! hahahaha Thanks for watching bro and have a great Memorial Day weekend!
Hahaha yes it makes it a lot easier and that was one of a couple things they updated from the original design! This is a fun little cooker for sure and i will do some more videos on this once spring is here!! Thanks for watching and I appreciate you leaving a comment!
Yep I still have the Rider!! Just need to get some charcoal cooks in for those subscribers. I will be mixing up the cookers some after I get a couple done on the Bronco!! Have a great weekend bro!!

Thanks Craig and ya I am pumped to get some protein on this cooker. This weekend is going to be a good one!!! Like always bro thanks for watching!! Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!!
Great video on the unboxing and burnoff Ricer. I just bought this little barrel and great to see a demo on the burnoff. The construction went to plan with all bolts, washers & nuts inplace. It's my first entry into a smoker BBQ so keen to watch your cooks on the Bronco. Great work. Tony (Aus - Downunder)
I sure will Jacob! I just have to get a few cooks on some charcoal for my charcoal subscribers! Don't worry I got a couple videos planned for the Rider still!! Actually a lot of videos!!! ha ha Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Awesome! I really love your videos and you pretty much inspired me to get the DLX. I've only had it a short time now. I've done chicken legs, ribs, pork belly burnt ends, jalapeno poppers, and salmon. Tomorrow I'm cooking chicken teriyaki on a stick!

Best unboxing instructions ever....

Something about that Oklahoma Joe that gets me every time!!!

How much grills do you have?
Only 8 at the moment Ali!
How accurate is that gauge? I've rseen a couple people say its trash.
It is ok, I used it just for a ballpark reference. I actually do not have this pit anymore. A buddy of mine uses it all the time.

When putting on the legs, there was a nut needed on the other end ? Other builds I've seen they had a nut.
That was the old version, the nuts are built in now.
@@DeadBrokeBBQ that is awesome. Probably save a a ton of time and expletives haha.

I just bought an Oklahoma Joe’s Bronco, what do you use to clean and what’s your personal process?
Elbow grease. hahaha I just take my shop vac and suck it out. Thanks for watching!!
How do you get your to hit 400 I did mine last night and it only hit like 300 to 350 and I had it open
Simple, just left the lid open longer while the charcoal was lighting up.
Great video, Ricer! Do you still have the rider DLX?
Yep I still have the Rider!! Just need to get some charcoal cooks in for those subscribers. I will be mixing up the cookers some after I get a couple done on the Bronco!! Have a great weekend bro!!

Thanks Keith!!! I am very excited to get this rig rolling this weekend!! I appreciate you watching and enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend bro!!

It only took about 30 minutes. Very simple and easy to assemble. Of course the Pellet is a great cooker but fun to use charcoal and add boost the flavor sometimes! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
Just my opinion, but the Bronco delivers much better tasting bbq than any pellet grill I’ve ever used/had!
I’ll never own a pellet cooker ever again. But we are all different and have different taste.
👍😊...looks like a solid smoker for sure. I think I cook so often that I don't even notice the smell of charcoal anymore. That's not good...😊😊😊. Guess I'll have to cook more and see if I do...poor me...😂😂😂

how about a video comparing the Bronco vs the PBC? I'm curious to what you think
