Travel Buddy Oven Cook Ups Ep 19 - Meat Pies Frozen vs Thawed

Travel buddy cook up number 19, Meat Pies. Nothing fancy today, but I did think I would put frozen vs thawed food to the test. I always carry a few pies, pasties or sausage rolls with me incase of emergency or if I have to work late or come back from somewhere and the shops are closed. So today I had 2 pies, one I had left in the freezer and the other I had thawed out and put in the fridge. To say I had had a rough day was an understatement. I left home a 6 to make my way back to where I left my trailer on Tuesday evening coming back from Stirlingvale and Ivanhoe jobs. The road had been badly damaged due to localized floodwaters and I hit a huge pothole and broke a spring hanger off, meaning the trailer would not make it home. Luckily I was very close to a station homestead and the owner was kind enough to let me leave it there for a few days. Getting the trailer on the other trailer was a bit more of a task then I had expected, but a few hours later I was ready to head home. So I put the 2 pies in the oven and started the test. I was a bit surprised by the results, and I think a full tray of frozen pies would take longer to cook than thawed, but in this situation the end result was pretty close.
*Remember its not perfect, compared to the way you cook at home in your own oven, but it's all happening while your driving and saving you time when you arrive at your destination or for your lunch stop on the road. Keep trying different foods and times and see what works for you and your family.
Normally I would Pre heat oven for 10-15 mins, then cook for an hour before rolling the pies over and turning off the oven using the residual heat to finish the job.
