I make the same thing, buddy. And also I have a friend that works on the railroad. I get them flat iron. That's got the 4 h*** that go under the track on top of the railroad tie, they work real good.
Both good ideas. Others have mentioned that. I'm for sure gonna do that if those limb line weights work. I'll also leave plastic on in future. I wanted to pull it off on this video so everyone could see the concrete. Thanks!!
On the limb line weights I think the concrete would be abrasive on the line weakening it. You could maybe put a straw in the center to achieve a smoothe nonabrasive center. I fish a slow running river so I don't use weights on limb lines running my bait about 10 to 14 inches below the surface. I think this produces a more aggressive bite. The bait can swim about a 2ft circle.
I don't doubt more bites without weight. I just have ours made up that way because we end up in current. You could put a plastic core in center like straw over the nail, but I didn't think of that. That's first ones I've made. I don't think it's really gonna be abrasive enough to matter. Big question on is will they hold together long term. We will test them for sure in future videos. We give honest opinion on whether we recommend doing it that way in the future. Thanks for watching and suggestions on no wait!!
You can also use those disposable food storage containers. Wouldn’t use the wife’s good Tupperware. It would make some good size, low profile weights that won’t roll around in the current or in the bottom of the boat and there’s numerous sizes to choose from at like the Dollar Tree or other discount stores.
The possibilities are endless with those. Lightweight kayak anchor. Cheap way to anchor down brush piles. I know some guys fill 5 gallon buckets up with it for duck blind anchors too. Good video.
Another great video. The only thing I do different is I don’t take the plastic bottle off. It won’t scratch my boat so bad and the mud slips off the plastic better than the concrete.
I'm gonna say it would hold together better as well. I mainly took those off for the video so they could see they turn out good. I think in future, especially the drink bottles I'll leave them on
I've used a lot of steel and SS scrap for weights over the years, but we've used concrete too. Good mixed Crete is way better than bought blocks or brick. I mainly wanted to show this video because a lot of people don't have access to a welder and still can be able to make their own waits for very little money.
Not sure on that. Just the concrete will work, especially in the PVC if you leave it on. I had the fiber already, and I've ordered a lot of concrete with fiber in it. It works real good on slabs, so I figured why not!!
concrete so light though.. to improve this. i cut a bunch of rebar to the size of cups.. i should have turned mine upside down. but then i had as much rebar pieces i could put in with the concrete and it doubled up the weight of each one. the bad thing i should have probably put a couple pieces of rebar coming out the cup so it doesnt roll around the bottom as easy. but they work. for trotlines i did the solo cup size and with rebar i think they weight a little more then 5 lb i think before the rebar the test one i did with just quickrete was only like 2-3 lb. the other thing walk some old railroad tracks. look for the bigger plates that the railroad spikes hold down under the tracks. those are pretty heavy and work good also. on my trotlines i just use railroad spikes for weights between my floats.
Thanks for mentioning. All good ideas if you want or need heavier weights. We really don't want that heavy of weights in the river because they pull the line tight on bottom. You want net headlines to kinda float up off the bottom so they easier to drag up. That said in a lake I do like them heavier to help stretch tight.
Everyone asking about the weights... I'm curious about the Fanta Orange Sherbet! Got a video on that? :) I use 2" PVC cut to 5" lengths filled with quickcrete for my juglines. makes a nice 2# weight.
I have some like that they are great. Sorry, I've failed you guys. I'll do the Orange Sherbet in one of our cooking videos. We also make a Chocolate, and chocolate covered strawberries ice cream as well. I'll try to add all three in videos this summer!!
Im sure you've answered this but tell me about the compressed cheese block.. is that actual cheese or something different like a catfish cheese bait block. Do you make it? I wanna try some nets in the basin down here and that bait is working for you. Thanks.
They have it in Jonesville at nets and more. Look them up online. 10 blocks to a case. It will work if your on blues or channel cats. You can break them in half or use a whole block if your in a lot of fish. Check out the wire net videos for fishing the blocks. Hope this helps
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 ok I'm gonna look that up, thanks a bunch. Channels are by far my favorite eating. I've been looking to see if Henderson Swamp has certain rules pertaining to nets but I know some folks who run ac ducts in the atchafalaya River so I have that to fall on. There is just so mane places to hide a net from poachers.
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 sir we make sneaky throw line also with the weight at the bottom a couple hooks then a 3” slip bobber we fish it like a santee rig but the weight is made to sink the slip bobber just to suspend the bait off the bottom 2-3 feet it a very cool rig and can be used is high traffic areas with no one noticing.
Use the cheapest, thinnest rebar you can find for making connection points. A simple U-bend is all you need. 2 liter soda bottles and plastic buckets make great forms/molds, so do plastic plant containers/pots. Lead is too expensive, and liberals are dead set on outlawing it. Find your alternatives now so you dont be the ones scambling to get what you need later.
I really like the soda bottle! Put eyebolt through lid and pour through the bottle and glue that back after dry and won't scratch boat up at all.
Yeah I think that would work great too
I make the same thing, buddy. And also I have a friend that works on the railroad. I get them flat iron. That's got the 4 h*** that go under the track on top of the railroad tie, they work real good.
Oh yeah, some of us can come up with scrap iron from time to time. We also use car rotors at times
Very good video!
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed
Bradley I've used Vienna sausage cans for concrete molds for limb line weights and they worked great also I've used potted meat cans.
That's a good idea. Those cans hold up good to water. Thanks, cause others read the comments
Great teaching video!
Thanks!!
Good information again, thanks.
Thanks!!
You could put a straw over the nails in the limb lines ones, and leave the plastic on the water bottle ones
Both good ideas. Others have mentioned that. I'm for sure gonna do that if those limb line weights work. I'll also leave plastic on in future. I wanted to pull it off on this video so everyone could see the concrete. Thanks!!
My goodness you were still sweating like crazy even after dark lol I feel you on that heat here in Arkansas last week was crazy!
I was still sweating an hour after shooting that video🤣🤣
I imagine so !

Great content bubba thanx 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻good stuff as always gunna make few them chic cups for my opp thro lines

Cool video. Stay safe out there

Old butter dishes and such. Sky is the limit!!

Needless possibilities for sure. That's why I showed the various trash molds. Good idea, I think I'll build me a kayak anchor next!!
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 I’d do something that would keep the cement enclosed so it won’t scratch or damage your kayak with its abrasives.
PVC will work perfectly

Definitely one of the most cost effective ways to make weights
For sure it is, unless you get free scrap metals
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 true
Another good instructional video. Learn something new everyday.
Come on Rod, I know you already knew about these weights🤣🤣
Yes made with regular mix never used quick set with fiberglass.. Concrete has a little float in it. I think.

Also those small pvc weights would do good on your bank poles !
I think I'll leave the pipe on them next time
@@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 it definitely couldn’t hurt nothing!
Instead of fiberglass pieces, I might try shredding a cat tail or two in the concrete. Might work too.

Good idea on the weights. I’m curious to see how well the limb line ones work.
Me too, lol
put a piece of drinking straw about an inch shorter than nail over nail on limb line weights, makesit easier to remove-good video

Use a scrap square bowl and make a no roll weight.
Oh, I misunderstood. I got ya now for the current. That's a good idea, thanks. Helps keep lines from twisting up
I use my red solo cups for fruit punch with my cookies, LMAO.
Lol, there ya go
Could Save Your Toilet Paper, and Paper Towel Rolls for molds.
I actually thought of that, but didn't have any empties. Thanks for the suggestion!!
👍
Thanks!!
If I figured it right 2 Liter Bottle filled with Dry sand would be around 6 1/3 #, I would add water.
I'm not sure on that, but sounds close
