Hi guys! So today we are taking a look at my new grommet machine. I though it was going to be so much easier using an industrial eyelet press for all my corsets but it turns out with NO INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED! (Oh I hate that, why cant they just clearly say how to put this thing together and use it?). Figuring it out was fun anyway and at least now I more or less know how to use it.

You’re a hoot. So much fun. I have the kam press mainly for rivets. Maybe you’ve got the press on the window sill now ? Mine is attached to wood. I’m just looking how to do grommets for bags.

Mine had screw holes to be attached to a table and I will get round to it once it has a permanent place lol.
It's honestly so good now I know how to use it, one of the best buys ever!

The result is not bad at all ! I have had so much trouble with my grommet press as well, but after bolting it to a hard stable surface it got way easier to use !

Hey I just followed your video, then I found out this wondrous trick….. you can punch the hole in your fabric FIRST by using the press without a grommet in it, then put your grommet in the press and bingo…. Perfect!!!!

Thanks. I've found that doing that pulls my fabric realy weird so have started trimming a small hold with some sharp scissors first to stop this :)

@@AnnabelleAndBensAntics I did only do it on faux leather and quilting cotton… I suppose that’s the value of scraps of fabric to try it all first x

It's the quality of the grommets that is the problem, my sister has one and she said the ones that come with it are crap, and you need to buy your own good quality ones. Also the metal dies may also not be great.

Each grommet has to have a die set that is the same size as the grommet you are setting. So a 14 mm grommet needs to be set with a 14 mm die set. Ask me how I know…

In conclusion, even an industrial grommet machine is basically a piece of shit?

I mean its 100% better than the hand press ones but I do wonder if there is something above this I can upgrade to at some point

These are indeed a pile of crap. If you see the original in action, the female part of the eyelet goes on the bottom and the male part fits over the top part of the press. As you push down on the lever, the sharp edge of the eyelet cuts through the material and rolls under the female part to make the finished eyelet. On these chinese copies, the top part is rounded so won't hold the eyelet, as you press down on the handle the eyelet can tilt and buckle which is why it doesn't cut correctly. The eyleys are also poor quality.

Great video! I just bought a press and I hope it works! Would you consider doing a video on hand sewing around your metal grommets? I think I’m going to have to do it to mine because the grommets turned out awful and I can’t find any videos of sewing around a metal grommet. I didn’t know if it would make it worse by sewing around it or not. Thank you!!

I always see over mine. It looks so much better. I actually did a tutorial on it during my Hannah Alexander poison ivy video where I tried to save the cosplay if you wanted to have a look at that

Happy birthday. Did you buy the press used? Is that why there are no instructions? Did you check Utube to see if someone had put out a video on how to use it?

No it was new off Amazon but looking at the reviews no one came with any instructions
