The most important part of this is never EVER sign a loan for someone else. No matter what they promise. She tried to do something nice, but it is simply too risky. Want to help someone?. Get them a gift card to Starbucks. If a grown man can't get a loan for himself that is a warning light flashing bright.

They are so right about signing onto things with people you're not married to, I learned that lesson the hard way. My ex begged for both of us to be on the mortgage and when we broke up she tried to take me for all I was worth on the house. She made zero payments and contributed next to nothing to the bills and tried to get a payday out of me. Fortunately my bank helped fast track the quit claim deed and refinance and I was only out $1400 but it could have been much much worse.

If she was "married to him" for 10 years instead of "with him" for 10 years, when she became 62 (minimum age retirement to collect social security) she would have qualified for "spousal social security" which means she would have received half of his social security automatically, if he had been the higher earner. She'll still have to take out a loan but it'll be interest on $8k versus 18k.

However, living in a camper puts a lot more wear and tear on the unit than the camper that is used a few weeks out of the year going camping. So..... I would venture a guess and say this camper is not worth book value.
