Very nice collection of RS-3L sounds, not to mention a great variety of motive power! Once termed "the most common railroad horn in North America," the Leslie RS-3L has become a rare treat to hear. Sadly, we are now drowning in a sea of K horns.
I'm with you. I blame NS for retiring all of their ex-Conrail locomotives; I admit I still have yet to get over it. I really miss the Dash 8 and SD60 locos that used to wear the horse head.
Epic Leslie train horn compilation, gotta love the good ol' RS3L! This is the horn that screams freight train. I miss the days when these horns were still in abundance on the NS. Great work!
I may honestly prefer Nathan train horns more than Leslie train horns with my top 3 favorite train horns the Nathan K5HL, Nathan K5LA, and the Nathan P5 horn, but the Leslie RS3L is definitely my favorite of Leslie train horns because of how it sounds, especially hearing a more squeaky sound after the locomotive passes by. Though the one issue with RS3L's is they can sound really crappy if the horn needs maintenance. Leslie RS5T's are still great too.

The train with the RS3L from 2:42 to 3:07 has the best sounding horn of all! Amazing echo too, must be a super loud one.

Nice to see Kings Mountain from before the new signals and crossings.
I dub the RS3L, the Conrail horn as it was used on a lot of Conrail diesels.
1:33 That sounded like a Indian EMD
Wow #2 IS AWESOME
0:31 AWESOME
13:55 UP 6918 RS-3E.
It's actually a K3HL
RS3E horns were tuned the same way as K3HLs so I understand the confusion
5:04 they seriously had to put a GE steel bell on an EMD
