  • A lecture on Stav - Martial Art, and how it relates to the Vikings.
This is the first lecture I produce in a planned series that covers Stav specifically and Norse spirituality in general.
Since it is my first lecture on video, it is not perfect, but good enough. Please let me know if you appreciate the clip and let me know what you would like to hear more about.

Very good and eloquent, I was a little worried that your lecture would be in Scandawedish.

Constructive criticism. Get to the point quickly! I didn't come here to hear about Scandanavian family life. I came here to see Stav and Viking Martial Art. Love the background, your presentation could have a bit more self-confidence but I bet you'll get there in time. Keep it up! Make your title match the description of what you're bringing to your audience.

    Actually
    1) around the esrly 2000's Ivar did claim it was a Viking martial art
    2) shields stayed in use in Scandinavia, and Europe, for centuries after the Viking age.

      1) In the year 2000 Ivar published a text were he addressed these misunderstandings, and clearly stated that Stav is a living family tradition kept within his family; and that it is not a Viking Martial art. So you are wrong.
      2) There is a difference on shields and shields, the Viking shield people are complaining lack within Stav completely vanished in Scandinavia just shortly after the Viking age.
But the debate on the shield is rather off topic, and to be honest I am not an historian or a HEMA practitioner. If you want to argue history and which types of weapons being deployed over different eras and when they fell out of fashion; there are probably better channels for you! My channel is about Stav and Norse spirituality.
