This principle is correct when the two decks are riffle shuffled. When you mix them as you did in the video, it can go wrong as it could have at 3:55 of this video. A red card almost fell from the top. If a spectator was doing this mix, they may have just let it fall off, and then push in to the bottom pile. Have a spectator riffle shuffle only. At 3:53 the red card indeed fell and got shuffled in the middle of the deck
