I'm glad you like it. I'm 28 and I hold this game very dear - best years of my childhood. They no longer make games like ID, Baldur's G ate or Planescape Tormenrt. :/
ICEWIND DALE!!! One of the FEW games I have ever played, that I was more than willing to play over and over with no sign of boredom in sight! (Here's to hoping someone will build us a IWD III, and IV... and V! and that would be it... until they came out with VI!)
Catti-brie, Thimbledorf Pwent, Regis, Wulfgar, Brisa, Matron Malice, Montolio, Zanakfein, Belwar... The names will always be so many, and so many that strike our heart. I have Salvatore to thank for that... :D
This sort of reminds me of the Neverwinter Nights main theme. Hmm Lonelywood was in the Heart of winter expansion wasn't it? I don't remember it in the main game but damn what a lovely theme :)
@rybueno Just cos I can, and this is totally 2 years late, but most of Black Isle is now Obsidian Entertainment, when Black Isle was shut down by interplay, almost the entire staff moved to found Obsidian and the majority still remain. A few others from the Fallout side of things left for a company called Troika and have since either scattered about the industry or moved to either the former Left 4 Dead makers Turtle Rock or have began working at Obsidian.
Fortunately Black Isle didn't make these songs, but it's still a shame BI is gone. Interplay goes on, though, and you'll never know if something good comes out of it.
If you guy and girls like such epicness ,then I recommend you legendary band Wintersun formed by a former of also legendary Ensiferum Jarii Maenpaa. Pure epicness! He sings about stars and galaxy ,time ,death and especially ,about winter ;) Check out: WINTERSUN!!! (from maniac to maniacs! ;D)
Living in Denmark I promise, the snow gets tiresome after the first 20 years :) and i'd bet Sweden & Norway feel even more so. But i think we all could use a bit of adventure sometimes :)
those at the moment are EA, Activision, Bioware, infinity ward...and Bethesda(but ill give them another shot before its a red flag) Bioware was the real total let down...i supported them for a long time.
true enough mate, i agree. i wish obsidian would come out with some more better content though...i allready have RED FLAGS for certain company markers for the games i get, i wouldnt like to add obsidian to it yet
Perhaps, but even as is the tool set was pretty easy to use. The tutorial could have been better, but all in all it was a very good system and was the first time anyone had done something like that. You would think Obsidian would have improved on the tool set, but not only did they not improve it, it didn't even live up to the original. Don't get me wrong, a lot of great content came out of the NWN tool set, just no good single player campaigns.
but ...I have a bad feeling that nobody wants to make a real peice of art.... I think the only expectation i can have is them tossing a peice of shit on a canvas and putting out product, cuz they know it will sell
Well i disagree on that as well. Because soundtracks aren't a standard thing, You can say that some soundtracks are better than others, but you can't switch soundtracks that are somewhat on the same lvl. Soundtracks, in my opinion, are suppose to give a mood over the game. In oblivion the soundtracks were good, but i felt they all came in from a giant bowl of the same mix. There's no characteristics in these soundtracks. That might be good in some occasions,
The first NWN was never about the story, it was about the tools and NWN2 didn't match in that department. The idea behind NWN was to put the tools out there and let the community create the content, which they never really did. There were some decent persistent world servers but nobody ever put together some good single player campaigns. I guess it's just not as easy to do that as people might like to believe.
i see...I didn't know that. Perhaps they should of made a Better tool set, that perhaps a moron could use with ease, with good tutorials if that was the case.
BAh i hate when people screw up something thats allready there....There is no need for eye candy to sell a game.... We all know women can be pretty to look at...But the content of who that woman is matters most...Yet women still put on unessesary things to get appeal...if the woman is worth her salt, she wont need any of that crap....enough of my old man 30 years old ramblings i suppose heh
heh! i suppose you are correct... But all they need to really do is play off those old games, no need for this bullshit elderscrolls graphics....Just put a 5,000 page book worth of story into the games, and use the same as they did in Baldurs gate....Or at the very least use the graphics from neverwinter nights 2, neverwinter nights came up very short in content like BG...Im playing through it now, sure it is a little clunkey in the maps and such...but it is simple...just add story!!! and fun
I'm glad you like it. I'm 28 and I hold this game very dear - best years of my childhood. They no longer make games like ID, Baldur's G
ate or Planescape Tormenrt. :/
How's your thirty eighth birthday?
unbelievable how much impact on game and atmosphere can beautiful music like this make.
You can really hear the beginnings of Skyrim's soundtrack in this score. Soule is so cool.
"Just a small town girl,
Livin' in LONELYWOOD.
She took the midnight boat
Goin' to Burial Isle." Don't Stop the Healing - Journey
I agree. Simply stunning. Beautiful.
So lovely town....
At the spine of the world...
ICEWIND DALE!!! One of the FEW games I have ever played, that I was more than willing to play over and over with no sign of boredom in sight! (Here's to hoping someone will build us a IWD III, and IV... and V! and that would be it... until they came out with VI!)
i always feel like IWD is more than a game, so many good memories..
Forgotten Realms..... , Drizzt, Elminster, Khelben, Entreri, Cadderly, Jarlaxle , Alustriel, Bruenor and many others
listening to it, i wish i'd live there. Feeling like walking lonely under a slow snowfall. The terran paradise, all i wanna ask for.
wonderful, so sweet , so delicate;...dreaming
Powerful, very powerful soundtrack. It makes me think that this track welcomes me to Icewind Dale once more.....
missing those times ... ;(
i was reading the Book " The Legend of Drizzt IV: The Crystal Shard " while listening to all soundtracks of this game :)
world is not ready yet to hear so epic music
Back when games were made for much more that just money and with soundtracks from other universes.
I loved Heart of Winter. Lonelywood was AMAZING. Town of mysteries.
@speeddeamon90 He wrote music for many games. Like Neverwinter Nights, Guild Wars, Morrowind and Oblivion...
This is so easy to do homework while listening to.
as of august 22nd 2012 they are back in action!
I have the original IWD soundtrack from the collectors set. good buy!!!
Fantastic.
Catti-brie, Thimbledorf Pwent, Regis, Wulfgar, Brisa, Matron Malice, Montolio, Zanakfein, Belwar... The names will always be so many, and so many that strike our heart.
I have Salvatore to thank for that... :D
Drizzt...
Tempus be my witness, IWD really does have the most epic soundtrack...
same composer, Jeremy Soule. His works sound mostly identical, but I love his musics so much!
This soundtrack is so epic, I WANT BLACK ISLE BACK!!
Best theme in Icewind dale, and Icewind dale have a LOT of good themes.
Soule's first game soundtrack is that of Total Annihilation.
Jest to mój ulubiony utwór z całej ścieżki dźwiękowej tej gry.
Its my favourite track from this game.
Epic. I got goose bumps.
This sort of reminds me of the Neverwinter Nights main theme. Hmm Lonelywood was in the Heart of winter expansion wasn't it? I don't remember it in the main game but damn what a lovely theme :)

@ppw00 Everyone's entitled to an opinion. Thanks for sharing. I haven't played this game before.
I thought that I was listening to NwN theme at the beginning ;) It seems that every D&D game soundtrack is wonderful.
I have had this game on my shelf for years but I got so wrapped up in Baldur's that I never even played it.
Great games a great soundtrack to relax
You and me both!
play it. if you like baldurs gate, you will like this. so similar its unbelievable
(from maniac to maniacs! ;D)

But i think we all could use a bit of adventure sometimes :)
Its because ive heared this music that i decided to play Icewind dale !!!
@SodaFanatik i agree but don't forget tes III morrowind and tes IV oblivion
this sounds like music from Oblivion.. but it came out 10 years earlier. nice.
awesome tune, in the start it has same melody as in the dragon battle music :D
I miss games like this. The story to them (BG Series and ICE WIND DALE) are just awesome. Too much graphics and not enough story.
WHY aren't there such well written music in the new games?? WHY is the world devolving D: ?
I think this is Jeremy Soule's best composition. His Morrowind theme is a close second.
thats it.they only look for profit.
Icewind Dale will forever stay in my HDD!
awesome!! Add Kuldahar to the lise please!! :P
Hahah! Learn to ski, Dane! One can NEVER have too much snow! ;D
@speeddeamon90 Late answer but... Soundtrack composed by Jeremy Soule.
The Italian metal band Rhapsody stole parts of this in their song "Shadows of Death."
yeahh fucking thiefs
Jeremy Soul, Inon Zur, get me in Icewind Dale series, than Inon Zur got me again in Lineage 2, Jeremy in Skyrim.
Where can you buy these or download the soundtracks!
Then along came Atari!
the thing is that it is epic in every aspects, except in linearity. it could also have a better (MORE-MORE-MORE) story.
@SodaFanatik along with Fallout 1-2!! DONT FORGET MY FRIEND!!!
i agree with u.
tak właśnie
It's a bit like John Williams- Jeremy Soule's music has a distinct sound to it.
@rybueno
Yeah Black Isle have done great rpg games
Too bad, no one can create games which have the same spirit like Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale
those at the moment are EA, Activision, Bioware, infinity ward...and Bethesda(but ill give them another shot before its a red flag) Bioware was the real total let down...i supported them for a long time.
i want icewind dale3
true enough mate, i agree. i wish obsidian would come out with some more better content though...i allready have RED FLAGS for certain company markers for the games i get, i wouldnt like to add obsidian to it yet
Do you have a post-HotU character? If so then head to the NWN Vault, download the latest version of CEP, and try out the Sands of Fate campaign.
Perhaps, but even as is the tool set was pretty easy to use. The tutorial could have been better, but all in all it was a very good system and was the first time anyone had done something like that. HOMM3 seems to have similar music to Icewind Dale
Did he reuse this composition elsewhere? Somewhere in Morrowind or Oblivion, I think?
Motifs from this were incorporated into a couple Skyrim tracks.
but ...I have a bad feeling that nobody wants to make a real peice of art....
I think the only expectation i can have is them tossing a peice of shit on a canvas and putting out product, cuz they know it will sell
ummm, the Skyrim, Oblivion soundtrack is by the same guy. Equally as good
but all in all this isnt a good place for such a discussion...i must of accidently did a troll comment to start it up...i appologise

i disagree, they're well made, but not on the same standard as iwd and that era.. In my opinion of course
heh! i suppose you are correct...

I never liked lonelywood tbh, or all the witches and ghosts around it
But none of the original talent is there, so does it really matter?
Games post less to develop, so you made niche games. Not anymore :(
