Obama didn't go forward with any charges against Assange. He would literally have to charge him, then pardon him. Donald pursued charges because he didn't get enough out of the leaks to pin on Democrats.

If Mr. Assange held a government job, he had to sign an agreement not to commit any crimes, and not to cover-up or hide the crimes of others, but to expose all such crime and criminals that he might come across. Obviously, seditious criminals who have used government positions and powers to commit crimes that undermine and destroy the legitimate government, want him silenced, and they demand his prosecution and they claim that he has committed crime, to distract from their own crimes, which are much more serious than verbal expositions.
