This is the church where I became a Christian at age 5. Western Springs Village Church with Pastor Lloyd Fesmire. I am 68 now. Lots of memories when I hear that opening song. My parents were close friends of Lloyd and Helen. Billy Graham was the pastor there for a short time before he handed the baton to his college roommate, Lloyd, when he left to begin his evangelism ministry. George Beverly Shea and Don Hustad and their families were also members in those years we attended. The foundations for my life were laid here. I am still following after Jesus 63 years later. I thank the Lord for Western Springs Village Church!

oh, you don’t say? but then there is suppose to be a rumor according to a conspiracy theory that the late ‘reverend billy graham’ was a closet-catholic-priest up until the time of his death.

I was a lonely college freshman, a thousand miles from home, in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1960s.
But when I heard that “Songs in the Night” intro on Family Radio late on Sunday night, with one ear pod connected to my little clock radio, it was like a wave of comfort and blessing washing over me. I forgot my loneliness and was bathed in the warmth of God’s Word and his love. I drifted off to a sweet sleep with my spiritual batteries recharged to face the week’s coming challenges.
Thanks for helping me to recapture this blessed memory!

For so many years I listened to Songs in the Night late each Sunday. Then to fall asleep after listening to that music and meditation. To start the new work week with that blessing. The next thing to perfection. The Lord giveth songs in the night....

I've been reading through the Bible and noting the songs that come to mind as I read. I'm in Job, and came to chapter 35 verse 10. I searched for the song "Songs in the NIght," because I remember listening to it on Saturday or Sunday nights at my Grandma's house. I can also hear my older brothers singing it. I'm so happy I found this link. I also looked up Wendell P. Lovelace, and on the Hope Publishing page 12 songs he wrote were listed...and I knew them all!

Narrator's voice of SONGS IN THE NIGHT in the past -- for 40 years --- was Ted Seelye. Occasionally, they still use one of his openings for the program. He has gone on to Heaven. He also used to do voice for some of the Moody Bible Institute programs like some of the STORIES OF GREAT CHRISTIANS episodes. He is the announcer for some of those episodes and is an actor in some of the stories. Also did voice work for (if you remember) THE CHAPEL OF THE AIR with John D. Jess and David Mains.
