I know holsters aren't the most exciting things in the world, but those of us who are researching with the goal of purchasing one are very grateful for your video! Thanks, and keep-up the great work!
Exactly! I agree this has sold it for me honestly I have been shopping for a holster for a while now but I’m glad I found this video. It may not drive the views but it’s a win for me. I like to make informed purchases and seeing it in use helps a lot.
Oh my goodness, the face your dog is making in the beginning, while he is checking out the holster, is for real priceless!! I'm a veterinarian and a firearm enthusiast and your videos have the perfect combo in my opinion 😊
The Safari land als has been the absolute best duty rig I have ever used. In 10 years it Never failed me in fight simulation training. Never had someone go for my gun at work but I did have my Glock get hooked in a fence in a incident and it did not work its way out of the holster. But mine has scratched my Glocks, sigs, and one hk. Usually right on the chamber area.
This is exactly the holster I've been searching for. Seems like 99% of holster info out there is now aimed at inside the waistband but I just want one for outside the waistband range use. Thanks for the review.
I have been pleased with this holster for a full size single stack 1911. All positive comments are true. I have a g-code rti wheel and you can get the adapter for it. The only thing is you will need some spacers between the adapter and holster. The holster uses 3 prong nuts which are long enough to clear the thickness of the belt loop accessory that come with it. When you remove the belt loop attachment, there is about a 1/4 inch of the nut sticking out. The g-code plate won’t be flush to the holster unless you add a spacer and get shorter t nuts.
Love this holster for when I do open carry here in Texas. Have one for my P320c and it blows away the Serpa which I was used to from the military. I like the ALS over the GLS because I think it is a more secure system in the aspect of someone trying to get your weapon away from you.
The ALS is a nice system. I have had one for years. The one I got had loops, but I wanted a paddle. I couldn't find one, so I asked about it. We sent a couple of emails back a forth to make sure it was the correct one....and then they sent it to me for FREE! Thanks, again, Espy!
I like holster reviews on unique holsters, not just generic kydex pressed by small outfits. Not the single clip taco design made by everybody, but stuff like this or the Clinger No Print Wonder, etc
I ordered a Ruger Security 9 > should pick it up today > I've been researching holsters for it & after watching this video I'm pretty sure I'll go with the Safariland ALS with Paddle. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
I have 9 ALS holsters. Two for a Gen4 G21, two for an HKVP9, two for a 1911 w/rail, one for my Glock30 and two for my Gen5 G45. All I can say is that they are phenomenal. Carry on.
The sheriff's office I work for in the jail we use the older style of safariland holsters. We use the secondary cover over the release button as well. Growing up I had several serpa holsters for a couple pistols and thought they were pretty damn good. I didn't think I would like the safariland at first. When I went through the academy we spent a week on the range firing about 1000 rounds and it completely changed my opinion. I plan on buying a couple for my own pistols. It's much easier to use than I thought it would be
Good review. Those really are great holsters. Very simple and rock solid. I carry my glock 17 in one under my suit coat for work(corporate security). I couldn't be happier with it.
Very helpful, thx. CCW since 2008, tub of holsters, have many favorites, BUT church security teams should now carry with retention and i have decided on Safariland ALS and it's on its way to me. Your video helped knowing you came at it from a non biased and maybe even curious point of view and bought it yourself. I probably won't change my IWB and OWB favorites but having a retention holster for that one use will be helpful for sure when i do need to be prepared to engage hands on as needed.
I love the als system from Safariland, Been carrying for work for 14 years and i've always used a safariland holster. From the sls to the als system, now that they introduced the safariseven material, this combination seems to make the gun leap out of the holster to aid in drawing. Love them.
My duty holster is a Safariland ALS 6377 on the 2.25" belt attachment. I love it just like you love yours. I'm thinking of picking up a few of the paddle models (6378) for my off duty firearms.
I've spent a small fortune on holsters but the Safariland with ALS ended up being my choice for most handguns. It's not as low profile as a Kydex like a Raven Concealment but these are my favorite. Drawing using your thumb to unlock doesn't take too long to get use to and becomes second nature.
Another really good holster that has the exact same feature is the Galco M6X Auto Locking Retention Holster. I own 2 of them, they are great as well. I compared prices on Amazon with the Safariland 7TS ALS and they are literally the exact same price lol. $39 for either. If I had a choice between the two, I would go with the Safariland 7TS because I think they offer more choices for attachments and the gun is a little more sealed up. Great review, please do more holster reviews! Holsters are always getting better and we need the news.
I have the black synthetic leather version of this holster for my off duty carry and I love it. It works great and the thumb lock release is natural when gripping the pistol. My duty holster is a Serpa Lvl 3 which utilizes both a thumb and trigger finger lock release. The motion used for un-holstering is also very natural when gripping the pistol. I also have the GLS version of this installed on a battle belt, which utilizes the middle finger grip release when drawing the pistol out of the holster. That took me some time to get used to, but after a day of shooting it, I got the hang of it. Safariland makes great holsters, but if budget is a problem, you may have to look elsewhere. It is worth the investment if the holster is what decides whether your live to fight again or not.
I use one for my M&P long slide for 3-Gun competitions. I'd rather lose 0.15 sec. on my draw than be DQ'd for my pistol falling out while I'm running. I also like that I can pretty much toss my pistol into the holster and it clicks in. Great review as always!
Good review. Great holster. I have 2 of them. The thumb drive release is an excellent design and it quickly becomes a natural part of your draw stroke. 👍
This is my go to holster i just wish i could get one for my walther ppq and cz p10c, i backordered one for my ppq but it still hasnt showed up. However this is WAY better than the blackhawk because the trigger finger is not placed in a spot where it could go into the trigger guard accidentally. Keep up the great work this is one of the best gun channels on RUclips.
all respect brother but what are you smoking lol holster reviews are awesome, anything that gives us a heads up on new gear that can keep us from either wasting money or help us get a solid performer is never a waste of time.thanks for the hard work man keep it up, great content as always.
Wouldn't this be considered level 2 retention? Level 1 being no active retention system, only friction fit. Level 2 being some form of active retention which needs to be deactivated to draw the gun?
It is level 1 because there is only one form of retention, the ALS ( (Automatic Locking System). If it had ALS+SLS (Self Locking System Rotating Hood), then it would be level 2. If it had ALS+SLS+Hood Guard, then it would be level 3. That is how Safariland rates their holsters.
Very good holster for me for competition as it will fit both Glock G22 and G23. One holster for two guns. Practical note I first mounted holster using belt loops which took time and was awkward to get on. I switched to paddle mounting and found it comfortable to get on/off for matches. And during very hot weather the material doesn't soak up water from sweating. And I shoot Freedom Munitions ammo and X-tremebullets reloads.l
my 7390 SIG P226R X300U SAFSEV BLK RH was just delivered. It seems well made and strong. So far the draw seems to hang/snag from time to time. I am still playing with it and hopefully I can get it, or my form to become more reliable.
Safariland ALS is the only holster I run at work. I tried Blackhawk after 2 catastrophic failures with theirs I went to the ALS in 2010 and never looked back..
thanks for being thorough and showing the inside of the holster. i'm trying to find one that fits a VP40 and might have to do slight mods, most don't even show the inside and just regurgitate the same feature set you can find on their website
I like these holsters! I have this them for my P320 and Glock when I open carry when I RSO at my gun club. I'm still figuring out if I like the paddle or belt loops. I can't open carry where I live, so I usually add another cover shirt and it disappears.
I have used the Serpa and SLS Safarilands extensively. I can draw just as quickly with both. I prefer the SLS so most likely the ALS over the Serpa but both are fine. My only issue with the Serpa is it can get pebbles in the button that will make it difficult if not impossible to draw the weapon. I have also seen the Serpa button just stick unlocked and not lock without help. But when taken care of they both are fine
Safariland & Bill Rodgers post a detailed look at the new safari-7 material & why these new holsters are high tech. I'd consider a TS7 type rig over a blade-tech or serpa/blackhawk pistol holster. to explain more, Safariland engineered the TS7 series to reduce the contact points of the pistol surface & the TS7 material. dirt, grit, mud, crud etc can slip out rather than collect or wear on pistol surfaces. The older um84/bianchi nylon holsters had those problems. holsters are carried often & used seldom(outside of training). The Safariland TS7 line is a real advancement in law enforcement & personal defense.
Excellent video man, I've been looking for something other than friction fit kydex holsters, this is exactly the model I'm looking at for my new S&W M&P 2.0 5 inch. Your video helped me with my decision.
Thanks for this video! I was very curious about this holster I have the add on for the 2nd level of retention so I think I may just grab it, great informative video.
Have you looked at the Hogue Powerspeed ARS Stage 1? I got one for my Beretta PX4 in carbon fibre. The retention system is rock solid, with a very easy to hit/operate release button. I need to look at the 7TS model that supports mounted lights. I like to run a light on my full size pistols.
Siesta Time *I've owned this very Holster for a few years now* It's a nice setup IMO *Mine is Black* I have mine mounted to an RTI Setup . Works Great with Glock 17
Had An ad for Vedder holsters. I'm looking seriously at these ALS I've never had a single issue with the SERPA holsters but, als seems like a better idea. My alien wear doesn't fit a non glock lower so, I feel this would.
My als holster for m9 allows the pistol to be pulled out with ease without hitting the als button, I wish they made the locking tab materials stronger than plastic.
Sad to say the 7300 series does not have a Glock 30 model. :( However happily, the model 6379 ALS fits my Glock 30SF perfectly! :) The ALS is drop dead (pun intended) easy and completely natural for me. I've used this holster for over a year in daily concealed carry with an untucked polo shirt or a print Tshirt and never had a problem or question from anyone while carrying concealed. . Now that Texas is open carry I suppose it really doesn't mater but I don't believe in advertising my self defensive capabilities.
Per Safariland, having the ALS system on this holster is considered a level 2 holster. Level 1 is just the holster itself. Level 2 is either the SLS or ALS installed in the holster. Level 3 is having both SLS and ALS on the holster. Best retention holsters out there I say.
Zachary M Mmmm, false. When I was a Safariland Dealer I had a long conversation with my Safariland rep about this very thing. The ALS is very much a level I holster.
I hate to argue, but the rep is wrong. Just the holster in itself is the first level. Every added retention device is an added level of retention, e.g., ALS, SLS, and so forth. Google it. Safariland' website details all of its available levels of retention with a video. I carry a level 3 holster daily. www.safariland.com/holsters-and-gear-resources/holster-retention-levels.html
You said it don't scratch but if the switch is wearing your finish down then I imagine the rest will eventually. Is it kydex? Cause I wear kydex and its wearing my finish off in some contact points. I hope you been wearing this holster for a good amount of time because I want to know about that als. Has it treated you good? Has it broken down? If dirt gets in it or some other foreign material will it jam up the release not letting your gun out? I seen the serpa get dirt in it and the guy I guess had to cut his gun out because the button would not operate. He would have been killed in a real gun fight. And I just saw a safariland video of this dude who has front slide serations that wore off the lock from so many draws and reholsterings that when he nudged and pulled the gun just right, it would come out without using the switch. Those serations acted like a saw. He had to replace that entire als piece and I'm guessing will continue to do so if he keeps with that gun. I really like this holster and the one you are showing seems to fit my needs but if its gonna do me like the serpa, bruh, I don't wanna die like that. Imagine carrying a gun for protection only to find you can't get it out and you get double tapped while jerkin your piece! Or worse, knifed up! And then there's the people who shoot themselves with that serpa. So what do you think after all these years, still confident?
i just got a safariland QLS and mid ride holster setup for a custom made steyr m9-a1 with an APL-C/shield RMS holster by concealment solutions. only problem with safariland is they only have crap for glocks and sigs. if you do have the civic of guns (glock), the ALS is amazing though... offers perfect retention when youre off the gun but once you depress that lock, theres zero retention so its prob even faster than just a passive kydex retention.
Their holsters fit tons of different guns.. the 7378 fits like 180 different guns or so and the 7377 fits almost 200 different guns.. If you look on their website and pick a holster and then look at the gun fit chart
I wish I would have found this vid before I started the all day long holster search. Depending on how the first one goes, I’ll probably wind up getting this for all of my G’s
My dept issues us these holsters for duty but with the hood guard and hood making it level 3 retention. I carry a glock 19 with a TRL HL. Also when I was in the academy they told us dirtbags in prison get these holsters and learn how to get the guns out from standing in front of us...which is surprisingly easy! lol
I've seen videos of people rip of fobus type polymer holsters. some holster designs are better than others. I'd advise viewers & ccw users to be careful with mag holders too. this time last year, I had a minor issue with a polymer mag holder not retaining my S&W shield mag. Good gear & a good gun belt are important!
Correction: I have this holster for my 17 and really like it for OWB. However, the 26 will NOT work in this holster. I have a 26 and was surprised to find that the 26 drops most of the way in and then you have to really push the holster to get it to lock up. You can also see the seams on the holster being stressed with e 26. I called Safariland and was tols the 26 doesn't work in this because the 26 has no rail. Otherwise, for a 17 or 19 it works great.
I’ll be moving to Colorado in a month. I’m in the market for a ALS safariland for open carry. I’ll eventually get a concealed carry permit in the state. Find it odd the citizens can’t open carry in Denver and the dumb 15 round limit for mags. But then again the state is liberal.
probably not the right place but i trust your answers, i bought an on your6 aiwb holster for my s&w m&p 2.0 9mm 4” barrel, the holster fits the pistol perfectly, the retention is great, but when holster and gun are in place, i cannot put my hand completely around the pistol grip in order to make a clean swift draw, is this problem with aiwb holster or just this brand, should i get another holster, what aiwb holster would you recommend, thanks
So I bought the same holster for different weapon, but noticed in the manual picture that the belt loop attachment is one way, and you have yours turned opposite. Is their a reason you have it that way? I'm just curious.
Why when you review a holster don't you say exactly what model etc it is. I have gone through SL's catalog and cannot find this holster. I find ones that have belts and thigh straps and hoods over the rear of the gun. I would like to buy this holster but I don't know where you found one for the prie you mentioned. Oh well.
Hi, the only Safariland holster available in my country’s Amazon is a 7378 7TS ALS for a Sig Sauer P320 (description says it fits the full size .45 cal P320 which has a 1.4” Slide). I wonder if it will fit a G30 .45 cal which also has a 1.4” slide. I have compared images and the contours seem to be almost identical. The reason for my dilemma is that Safariland doesn’t export to countries other than the US and Canada. 🤷🏻♂️ Perhaps I’ll buy it anyway and return it if it doesn’t fit.
I know holsters aren't the most exciting things in the world, but those of us who are researching with the goal of purchasing one are very grateful for your video! Thanks, and keep-up the great work!

What do you mean holsters are awesome lol
Oh my goodness, the face your dog is making in the beginning, while he is checking out the holster, is for real priceless!! I'm a veterinarian and a firearm enthusiast and your videos have the perfect combo in my opinion 😊
thank you! 🐶

great field report
I've got three ALS holsters and they are simply fantastic. Know that lead times can be 4-7 weeks, they also have a reseller network that stocks.
Whenever I see a review with your name on it, it is ALWAYS helpful. Thanks!
I just bought one today. I paid 39.99 and it came with the Paddle and belt loop adapter. Thanks for the review
This is exactly the holster I've been searching for. Seems like 99% of holster info out there is now aimed at inside the waistband but I just want one for outside the waistband range use. Thanks for the review.

Have used the Safariland holsters for 2 years. I trust them with my life for work
I ordered a Ruger Security 9 > should pick it up today > I've been researching holsters for it & after watching this video I'm pretty sure I'll go with the Safariland ALS with Paddle. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
I've been drooling at the light bearing version. Great value.
agreed
Also if you get the light bearing version it works with or without the light attached!
thanks
No way Jose!
thank you that was my question.
@@Mrgunsngear does this holster you reviewed work with the tlr7 on a glock 19?
Smart retention system.
That's a fantastic looking gen 1 G17 ! I've seen a couple but they have been ruff.
you should see my gen 1 19
I have 9 ALS holsters. Two for a Gen4 G21, two for an HKVP9, two for a 1911 w/rail, one for my Glock30 and two for my Gen5 G45. All I can say is that they are phenomenal. Carry on.
In your opinion, does the release system space the firearm out from your side more than the serpa Blackhawk?

Very informative. You are one of the few firearm enthusiasts I follow. Thank you for the great content you provide!
Fantastic holster. Highly recommend the ALS.
awesome review sir, the als system by safariland its becoming my favorite holster system.
thank you
I just tuck my gun into my pants. You people are wasting 50 bucks.

I have the black synthetic leather version of this holster for my off duty carry and I love it. It works great and the thumb lock release is natural when gripping the pistol. Oh man, that shirt is the greatest thing I've ever seen lol
😁
1:52 in the video and your dog has earned you a new subscriber.
Good review. Great holster. I have 2 of them. The thumb drive release is an excellent design and it quickly becomes a natural part of your draw stroke. 👍
When it comes to retention holsters Safariland Rocks !!!
Safariland has been in the US police & shooting industry for nearly 40 years. They purchased bianchi & a few other firms.
Just got the Glock 19 specific model thanks to your review! Happy New Year!
This is my go to holster i just wish i could get one for my walther ppq and cz p10c, i backordered one for my ppq but it still hasnt showed up. However this is WAY better than the blackhawk because the trigger finger is not placed in a spot where it could go into the trigger guard accidentally. just ordered the 7377 7TS for my Glock 19X with a Streamlight TLR 2 HL G cant wait to get it! looks like a really great product!!
Nice review, Ordering one. Safariland is cost a little bit more but you get what you pay for.
Right on
Another good informative video. Thanks. I have this same holster (in black) for my SIG Sauer P226. I added the ALS Guard to mine. Two thumbs up.
all respect brother but what are you smoking lol holster reviews are awesome, anything that gives us a heads up on new gear that can keep us from either wasting money or help us get a solid performer is never a waste of time.thanks for the hard work man keep it up, great content as always.
Trust me; I see the numbers. This is an exception because of the brand and google search optimization possibility
Great OWB Holsters. I have one for my Glock 19 & my Sig Sauer P320 Compact. Quality at a affordable price.
Wouldn't this be considered level 2 retention? Level 1 being no active retention system, only friction fit. Level 2 being some form of active retention which needs to be deactivated to draw the gun?
Dan T correct
Dan T depends. My office considers this a level 1 holster. There's basically no friction holding it it.
It is lever activated it wont just slide out
Safariland uses a different rating system than other companies
It is level 1 because there is only one form of retention, the ALS ( (Automatic Locking System). If it had ALS+SLS (Self Locking System Rotating Hood), then it would be level 2. If it had ALS+SLS+Hood Guard, then it would be level 3. That is how Safariland rates their holsters.
Just ordered mine today. Cant wait to get it
Great review. I notice your dogs practicing proper safety, no paws on the trigger until ready to shoot. Proper training always pays off.
Very good holster for me for competition as it will fit both Glock G22 and G23. One holster for two guns. I've had this holster on my radar for a while now...great review. Diggin that Empire shirt too!
thank you
I've got the light bearing one and whats awesome is, I'll fit a g19/17/34 with or without tlr1/inforce app/x300
Nice
This was the comment I needed. Thanks man!
Safariland ALS is the only holster I run at work. I tried Blackhawk after 2 catastrophic failures with theirs I went to the ALS in 2010 and never looked back..
👍🏼
I love the ALS. Climbing tree stands I never worry about my sidearm falling out.
nice
I've been using one for years.
IME, the most durable holster on the market. Safariland knows their stuff and they don't try to rape you on the price.
Can't argue
thanks for being thorough and showing the inside of the holster. i'm trying to find one that fits a VP40 and might have to do slight mods, most don't even show the inside and just regurgitate the same feature set you can find on their website
The 6360 was my duty holster. So the thumb switch is natural for me. I'll be looking into this!
I like these holsters! I have this them for my P320 and Glock when I open carry when I RSO at my gun club. I'm still figuring out if I like the paddle or belt loops. I can't open carry where I live, so I usually add another cover shirt and it disappears.
Which one did you get for your P320? I have the M17 and am looking for a holster like this that will also accommodate a red dot sight.
I carry my Sphinx SDP in a ALS holster. I love it.
awesome

For the price this is an execellent holster. No complaints.
Just got my holdster today but it seems I need to order the male and female clips. Thank you for the informative video my friend.
Good review. This is the information I was looking to find.
Thanks; tell your friends!
I have a Safariland ALS holster for my Sig 226. It works great in securing pistol.
👍🏼
This video makes me want this exact holster and color.
Cool video! Currently shopping for a holdster.
Coldest I experienced in Alaska, -54, luckily there was no additional cold from the wind;)
The Safariland TS7 line is a real advancement in law enforcement & personal defense.
thanks for the report.
I may give one of these a try. I think its REALLY hard to beat the GLS... I love mine
Great review on a great holster. I bought one after watching your video.
Excellent video man, I've been looking for something other than friction fit kydex holsters, this is exactly the model I'm looking at for my new S&W M&P 2.0 5 inch. Your video helped me with my decision.
Glad it helped
Thanks for this video! I was very curious about this holster I have the add on for the 2nd level of retention so I think I may just grab it, great informative video.
Have you looked at the Hogue Powerspeed ARS Stage 1? I got one for my Beretta PX4 in carbon fibre. The retention system is rock solid, with a very easy to hit/operate release button.
I need to look at the 7TS model that supports mounted lights. I like to run a light on my full size pistols.
I like the position of that unlocking switch in relation to a frame mounted safety... I think I may give it a try.
Siesta Time *I've owned this very Holster for a few years now* It's a nice setup IMO *Mine is Black* I have mine mounted to an RTI Setup . Works Great with Glock 17
Thanks
Thanks for your work and an honest review!
Just got mine Friday for my FN 509.
I've used this holster for over a year in daily concealed carry with an untucked polo shirt or a print Tshirt and never had a problem or question from anyone while carrying concealed. . Now that Texas is open carry I suppose it really doesn't mater but I don't believe in advertising my self defensive capabilities.
odd, thanks
Recently got one of there ALS holsters myself, takes some getting use to. But I like it
If blasters are banned, only scruffy nerf herders will have blasters.
Sorry. Carry on with your serious conversation.
I just farted. Disucss.
Who's scruffy looking?!

I carry a level 3 holster daily. www.safariland.com/holsters-and-gear-resources/holster-retention-levels.html
interesting convo; I've always heard it like Fenix says
G-code also makes adapters so you can use this holster with their RTI system wich IMHO is superior to safarilsnds Love the combo!
Great video, much appreciated 🤙🏼. Will it also work for the Glock 19x?
I wish I would have found this vid before I started the all day long holster search. Depending on how the first one goes, I’ll probably wind up getting this for all of my G’s
Just got the 7378 in 7ts for my glock 19. Its perfect except for a small tapping noise when im walking. Maybe it will break in or something
I love the previous version of this, the 6377. This new one is slimmer. Can't beat the price either. Safariland makes good stuff.
If you are active or retired LEO, you will like this system...👍
thanks for the report
I know this is a video made in 2017 but Safariland ALS has been around for years before. This was your first time using a Safariland ALS holster?! 😬
probably not the right place but i trust your answers, i bought an on your6 aiwb holster for my s&w m&p 2.0 9mm 4” barrel, the holster fits the pistol perfectly, the retention is great, but when holster and gun are in place, i cannot put my hand completely around the pistol grip in order to make a clean swift draw, is this problem with aiwb holster or just this brand, should i get another holster, what aiwb holster would you recommend, thanks
Thanks for the review. I'll try one out.
I mostly favor Galco and Don Hume leather belt holsters. But this might work.
Oh well.
these are on sale over on Optics Planet for about $35 depending on your gun...
thanks!
is the end closed off? just thinking there may be issues with compensator fitment.
yes
What is up with the hand to the chest before you draw? :D :D :D :D
So, You can adjust it to be more of a High - Ride? It rides too low on the belt in your Vid for me. Thanks for the review. Pete.
I don't know
