I feel so bad for David, he’s done countless interviews and yet the media just sucks him dry because social media is about content creation not understanding and education and story telling. David is absolutely sharp and so intuitive
Why feel bad? he gets paid for every appearance. Beyond money tho, If he didn’t want to be there he wouldn’t be there, and he’s also clearly the type of person to steer a conversation/discussion/interview where he wants it to go. I’m Sure he’s aware of what you’re saying about social media. Wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t care, doesn’t strike me as someone who even really uses it. Yet he still shows up to these things (every once in a while😂 it’s clear he doesn’t love it as he doesn’t do it that often) all the same, He says what he wants to say, talks about what’s interesting to him and that’s that. I don’t know that it’s healthy to think in that way… I mean, sure, that’s the way it is… but are you going to stop doing things just because that’s the way it is?
People didn’t get the irony I suppose 😅 not enough of sense of humor in this audience😂 but maybe - they are just a very attentive listeners 🫢 that’s no bad either
Not everyone is clapping at every occasion like a dumbass. That's just an american thing. The people just came there to listen to what Lynch has to say, not to act like dumb groupies or whatever.
They heard his opinion on the sound quality as an opinion, not as a demand to respond like trained dogs. Also, he doesn't seem like the kind of person to manipulate a crowd that way.
If I was being generous, I'd say..... clumsy non-native speaker trying, and failing, to find the correct English word. But still, to suggest Lynch is pessimistic is stunningly stupid.
The only film director whose work I've loved ever since I watched Dune and Twin Peaks. I can find no words to describe His magnum opus, Twin Peaks The Return. What an artist.
He's not secretive about things really just some like to be willfully ignorant. He says look at these rose bushes and some will be surprised there is dirt and fertilizer and worms beneath the foliage but must sensible people already know that.
Really I think oh so you have never gardened or scratched beneath the surface of your subconscious before such a pity been doing that since pre school personally.
How could I connect with the subconscious? If I did connect with it, wouldn't it then be conscious? I get what you're saying though, I think. Twin Peaks often evoked this slight unease deep within, like a puzzle that I can't quite piece together...
Oliver Stone won Best Director for Platoon over David Lynch and Blue Velvet. Stone is no doubt very talented and Platoon is a fine movie with some interesting layers worthy of analysis. However, at best Platoon is a footnote, inextricably tied to a distinct, fading era. It's perhaps worth revisiting once or twice. But Blue Velvet, along with all of Lynch's work, will be discussed and analyzed for centuries to come. It's timeless. Lynch is timeless, an artist.
And that's why he won't hit as hard as he will until a long time has passed. His work is the spirit the depths, and the work that is the spirit of the times will always have the upper hand in bias. For this reason, a lot of people want to tie him to the spirit of the times, when they attempt to make sociological interpretations of his work. But the heart of it is psychological, spiritual.

You can tell he always wants to talk about subjects deeply, yet most media want a "greatests hits" of his quotes and anecdotes

I like David Lynch’s films but like most ‘fans’, Lynch’s fan are morons. This comment is a great example of that
Unfortuntely this world isnt run by artists, but rather by powerful men in high places. @@davidguyette2586
Some people think Lynch's films don't make sense. I say, Lynch's films are among the few things that actually make sense.
I think this might be the best interview of Lynch ever
Wow, that is one tough crowd! Not a single clap after his initial comment about the "powerful" sound of clapping in that room! Man!

David is a deep well of intrigue and wisdom. He helps me relax my mind so I can hear him speak.
To call Lynch’s work pessimistic *facepalm*

Exactly :D
What a beautiful conversation 🖤🌟 thanks a lot to make it happen!

Thank you. 😊
Which year the recording is from?
Definitely post Inland Empire but pre Twin Peaks The Return.
2010
what a lovely man, easy guy to like
Strange - he is so fun, but nobody laughs?
It’s tough to pick up on humor in non-native languages

The film festival is great and all, but you know he just wants to go find abandoned factories in Eastern Europe.

All David Lynch interviews are interesting.
Schön das David Lynch nach der Pandemie wieder reisen kann.
