cause: if enemy hits you get slowed + delay through server and pings of both players effect: you get teleported back to the place you should be because recent movement of your character on your screen was not slowed but should have been
rubber banding is pretty much visual lag, where an object "teleports" from location A to B. You have most likely encountered it yourself, where people with bad connections can stand still for a couple of seconds and all of a sudden they teleport multiple feet forward without ever moving.
