    I had to go out from UK to Italy to take care of family issues (I'm not native italian). Being in Italy right now, yes, it's very difficult to say the best. Just coffe shops and restaurants in most of places, from 11:30 12:00 to 16:00 most of the city are closed. And apart from the trains: public transportation isn't the best, even comparing to my homeland in South America.
    Food? It's good if you're englander or something, and doesn't have a clue about stuff as in so many places the italian food aren't made by italians... So, yeah.
    Sometimes italians (or the people that I got experience from Fruili, Alto Adige...) are strange, seems that they prefer people living 3, 4 years still not able to speak a passable italian, but I learned a good italian in 3 months and even nowadays I feel far from be welcome. I've been called a subhuman for being South American for nothing, and this leads to another very negative point about Italy (and other Latin European nations it seems): the gratuitous insults.
    It's kinda depressing, specially when you have some experience already, doing more important stuff and being very respected, and rewarded by your efforts, to see yourself in a place that you can't have opportunities to show yourself and being mistreated most of times just by "sport".
    Payments, jobs in general are a great problem, you can't trust italian owners promises and even with a contract they know how to do some stuff to not do what they're supposed to do. Also, it's better be very cautious with "learning programs jobs", my girlfriend got a proposal for this (of course, If they don't just put a foreigner on "special needs" from Gov to "learn" (WORK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE OR EVEN MORE)), as the owners as I know split their bills with the Region or Province, and at the end you end receiving less money, the owners pay so much less for a worker, working just "normally" as everyone else, getting in your ass extra hours worked, more work and without rights to get some tax back after the ending for seasonal jobs like when you do seasonal jobs with a proper contract (and those seasonal jobs isn't accepted by most of landlords to rent a place).
    So, renting... It's very difficult to say the least for a foreigner, even with doccuments, even for natives being very honest. Also, and yes, Italy help too much people from other countries (lending money due the "war" right now, for pakistanis... I know a case, and FOR ME doesn't make sense this). So many people aren't people running for life, so, Italy became almost a joke and easy money for some people that cannot find a way towards Germany to get even more money than Italy, or just a step for Germany. Even some south americans have "asylum" passports 'cause they found a hole to get a docs when they're NOT eligible. Like this Italy kinda fkdup with natives and people that has proper docs leaving so many preferences for others, others that so many times, arent't honest in their needs (I'm up to help people that need help for real with real deal reasons). But yes, it's possible to have some help in Italy, especially for more elder people and this is good, of course, apart also from foreigners completely out of context.
    Kids... Never saw so many kids with 9 to 12 years old smoking like in Italy, very weird and almost eerie to not say stupidly sad sometimes, honestly.
    If you has some skills and put on your CV, it's kinda that they simple doesn't "believe" and they start to force you to be a kitchen porter (and even for jobs like this, if they can choose a bit, they'll never call you again) or something else... Maybe it's time to offer some days for free to try yourself, I don't know.
    And if you're italian you know... Post office or similar places staff simple doens't know sometimes how to do their own job. Months ago I had to almost "teach" a girl to send a handmade guitar pedal to USA as the old lady simple said "it's not possible to do this here", so it seems TO ME that those fellas are working more 'cause they have or got "contacts" than their will, experience or anything else, but this happens in a way EVERYWHERE, to be honest.
    Maybe it's just a bit of "bad luck" that I got or the region. Right now I got a bit "down" so it's my fault too, and I need to get on feet asap. Even some italians have to deal with the same problems. At the end, I still love this place, it's just kinda sad to see a place with so much potential in variable areas and ways being so inconsistent, having good and important helping programs, even that most of times the wrong people are getting it, lending money without imposing any performance on the other hand, like a proper course to prepare and direct people to a good opportunity after (for real reffuges, and proper eligible ITALIANS citizens, native or not by a proper reason).

    • @giangargo669
      @giangargo669 10 месяцев назад +1

      your perspective is very sad, hopefully it's bad luck and it will get better; It's true that italians aren't accustomed to diversity as other places, we have known immigration for a limited amount of time, some in the 80s and then it started in the 2000 so a country of old people like ours will likely have some ignorant views on different people compared to somewhere like the US, I don't believe italians are exceptionally racist compared to rest of the world but are just less accustomed to foreigners.
      Unless you are from a third world country i wouldn't move to italy for working, if you are smart maybe you can become a vlogger or something like that, there is a lot of stuff here that is absolutely vloggable and can pay decently with a foreigner perspective

    • @nobiado484
      @nobiado484 10 месяцев назад +1

      It's definitely not your bad luck. That's exactly how the country is.
      About the CV, they won't believe anything that they can't check, so if your previous experience is in another country, where they can't simply call your previous employer to check your references, it's worth nothing.
      They will likely recommend you take a course in Italy for whatever job you are appling for. And don't be surprised if you find out that the course for lavapiati is 2 year long.

    This video is simply wrong. Italians are warm and friendly people. That is, as long as you don't act like a know-it-all foreigner telling them how they should do things "better". Learning some Italian is a burden? Why would you want to live in a country where you can't talk with the locals or read the language. They offer free language classes at all levels. Yes, stores are closed in the early afternoon - so what? Take a break like everyone else does - they reopen a couple of hours later. If you want everything to be exactly like your home country, just stay home. I LOVE living in Italy, including the little challenges. Remember: the journey is the reward.

    I am an "ex-pat" living in Italy, the only point I agree on is the red tap0e... but there are agencies available to help you overcome this one negative aspect. My quality of life is high and I'm not on a high income. As for the (longish) wait times to see a medical specialist, so what IT IS FREE or as near as, my medication for diabetes and high blood pressure is absolutly free. Oh and last point, how crass can you get citing having to learn the national language as a downside, what you are doing when you learn a new language is culturaly enriching yourself, not giving up your identity

    You forgot to say how hard it is to rent an appartment. It's actually virtually impossible if you can't prove you have a stable source of income (ideally you'll need to haveca high paying indeterminate term employment conract before you can close the deal).
    As a standard, you'll have to sign a 4 year contract and pay a fine if you decide to move earlier than that.
    Landlords can be very particular about the profile of tenants they will accept. For exemple, "only for young women", "only for students" and so on. It's also not uncommon to be asked for to point some locals (of the particular town you want to live) who are wiling to vouch for your good reputation before they will accept you as a tenant.
    So the process would be like this: (1) find a good high paying permanent job, (2) socialize as much as you can with locals to make friends that will vouch for you and then you might be able to rent something. While you do that, you'll have to live in a hostel or, if you're lucky, a B&B that will accept you as a guest for a longer season.

    • @egoiste1994
      @egoiste1994 4 месяца назад

      Yes and that’s absolutely good so, the landlord needs to protect themselves from tenants who are not able to pay their rent.

    • @nobiado484
      @nobiado484 4 месяца назад +1

      @@egoiste1994 Bad tenants exist everywhere, but in most countries you can rent a house for an indeterminate amount of time paying only 2 or 3 times the monthly rent when you rent the place. There's something wrong with how the system works in Italy. Maybe it's too hard to force a delinquent tenant to leave the property? Maybe there's no efficient way to collect unpaid rent after the tenant leaves or runs away? I don't think it's a purely cultural thing, specially if you take into account that Italians are not the same in every part of the country. Even though people share a standard official language and a central government, the culture is quite different throughout the country.

    • @Star-8888
      @Star-8888 Месяц назад

      You can go to websites like Subito and immobilare and private rent. It's easy. But yes, landlords are particular and dont forget you pay the annual boiler maintenance fee, even if you have moved in for 1 month before its due.

    1. I live in italy. My italian is very poor and I do perfectly fine. Plenty of people speak english. Or i just use google translate.
    2. Italy IS dirty in my opinion. Rubbish every where. Really shocking. Outside supermarkets etc dog poop everywhere.
    3. Public toilets are fine. Depends on the premises. Never seen a hole in the ground. Wtf.
    3. Yes north and south divide exists. Doesnt affect expats.
    4. 1 euro homes. Steer clear. Getting builers to refurbish and work through planning permission is a total nightmare. You could end up in a dead end town, with no infrastructure or facilities. If i was rich tho. Id buy a whole village and have it exactly as i wanted.
    5. Yes there are no jobs here. Most businesess are family run and only employ family members.
    Very common to not get paid even by schools. Also good jobs require rediculous amount of exams and qualifications and built on italian tradition. So non italians will never be considered.
    6. The cost of living is cheaper. In the south anyway primarily because the rents are cheaper and homes cost less to buy. Everything else is expensive including food. I was shocked at the cost of food. Coffee and cake in a bar cheap. Icecream cheap.veg from the veg msn cheap. other food expensive.
    7. Legal stuff a nightmare. Governments and businesses do not answer emails.
    8. Tax is super high.
    9. Rentals are long but you can give notice.
    10. Stealing in the south is very very super rare. Rome and Naples I undersfand is a big problem.
    11. What they dont mention is the chronic ant-social behaviour, loitering outside your homes and breaking noise pollution laws every night. Theres no regard for privacy in your home or the right to live peacefully without music blasting until 4am in the morning at 1000 decibels on week nights. Sounds comical but the sleep deprivation and the destruction of daily living is really serious. Plus 100 people sitting on your dootstep 24/7 Carrying out their lives, eating drinking, talking on the phone all day on your doorstep......!. It has been unbearable for many expats and italians alike. Plus the fascination with fireworks unlawfully detonated outside your apartment without permission or safety regulations .animals are terriified. This is what sends expats home.

    Sadly what you have shown it is almost the truth, the great part anyway. Italy, despite the fact it is a charming country and its really good food and fashion, is really inhospitable. I always live here, but I still fill like a fish out of water. Even if we are part of EU (or maybe because of it), we still have very big problems with corruption, bureaucracy and sovereign debt. Italians are really class-conscious and impolite, especially with foreigners as you already said. This is not, at all, a country for young people, women and LGBT+ people to get a job and have a respectable life, especially at the south. We have really few rights for women, LGBT+ people and immigrants, as this country still has a really strong heterosexual and misogynist family model, where "the woman should stay at home with children". And even if you get a good wages and you don't have an undeclared work (of course, in this country is a quite regular situation!), you could receive a really low pension if you don't have enough contributions, especially if you are a woman, as in this country pensions are paid by working class. In one word, if you never lived here and you haven't got a family support, don't come in Italy for living. You won't understand their culture and way of thinking. A last thing, I totally desagree with you about the language. If you go abroad you cannot expect native people to speak english!!! Why don't you learn italian??? Spread this video in the USA.... and show it to the many Italian-Americans who queue at the Italian consulates in the USA to obtain an Italian passport... maybe they will change their minds!

      @@fabioflorio6922 1- Why an Italian in the US, should wait several years to change his passport? 2- Why Italians in the other countries get the foreign country's passport easy but when it comes to their own stuff, things must get a weird turn? Italians have different blood color? The fact that most young Italian raggaze are lesbian? or the extremely high unemployment rate? or the housing crises? or the very low payment? or the mafia? What makes an Italian or the country better than others?

    Add the awful marrigae market. Italian girls are not into men, so Italian and foreign men compete for the foreign girls. Somehow the reverse case of Thailand.
