Man, if this could replace my day job, I would make these daily. Sadly, I am but one man doing this, with the kindness of locals filming with me. I cannot ask too much of them, and appreciate all Jason, Troope, and other guests, do to help me out.
couple reminders: maul does not get +dice for his lightsaber throw from his identity, and at 11:56 when you're bringing the GI up to the point with 5th brother (presumably to capture it/push ahsoka off it) 5th brother would've already flipped it on his own since he wins ties
At 30:30 you pushed the Grand Inquisitor through the terrain piece but he shouldn't have (unless you were treating the grey computer console as part of the same terrain piece). The rulebook says on page 28 "As a Pushed or Pulled object moves along the range tool, it stops if it contacts a terrain part that is at the same or higher Elevation than the Pushed or Pulled object, another object that is at the same or higher Elevation than the Pushed or Pulled object, or if it would contact or overlap another character’s base. "
We are definitely still finding some struggle with proper application of push and pulls and the surrounding terrain. We both read the passage, and somehow came to a different conclusion. We will try harder.
Love seeing shatterpoint on the channel. Watch your MCP stuff all the time. One big thing I did catch and I’m not sure if anyone else caught it. On Rex’s first attack of the game against mandos and then moving to heal vader. That can’t actually happen. You have to do the steps one at a time. Since reposition is last. He would not have had the heals from the tree to do it because they have to be applied before the reposition happens.
Went back and brushed up on the passage, and you are absolutely correct. I think what threw me was the last sentence, discussing how you apply the effects of each stage of the attack, and my potato brain applied that to the whole thing. Good catch!
Yeah it caught me off guard at first. The defender can do all his defensive expertise and such in any order they want. But the attacker is stuck to doing the tree in order. But over all good bay rep! Shatterpoint is an amazing game and I hope to see much more! Good work!
Really enjoying your format with this game. Love how you take a moment to describe the non-standard elevation rule for the platform. We do something similar, we have some platforms that are not R2 high, but we play them as elevated anyway. Which is all within the RAW, players can agree to treat terrain any way they want. 😊
I really like how terrain interacts with this game, and would hate to leave out creative pieces because it is not 100% within the framework. In a competitive event, yeah, maybe leave that stuff at home, but for fun casual games, I also love telling a story
Fun game for a Dark Side lover. My only rules snafu is that Maul kept using his Sustained by Rage for his thrown lightsaber ranged attacks. SbR only works on melee attacks.
Love the Shatterpoint videos! I don't have the funds for listbuilding, so this has been a really fun way to see the expansions in action! Edit: The jab about Rex's hair was peak comedy
this game is so awesome. really wondering where we will be in a year. also wondering what competitive looks like with premiere showdown events! looks really unique
Hey there, I just finished watching this report and have a mixture of comments, suggestions, and questions. First comment: Thank you! Thank you for sharing your early games with all of us. We're all sort of on this learning journey together, so it's really nice to see the experiences others are having. So, thanks again. Second comment: You are brave. We tried a stepped platform similar to yours in our game last night, and it created many problematic rules issues. It looked cool, but was tricky. Good on you for trying something that looked cool despite the potential for issues. Suggestions: - Even though it may seem minor, with so many of us trying to learn (and I imagine some folks reading their rulebooks either along with watching games or soon after watching), I think it's worth making sure the terms used are accurate to what is in the rulebook, in order to avoid confusion. It's tough enough to learn a whole new game, but when we see others using terms that are not in the rules, it increases the learning curve. I'm thinking specifically of referring to Strikes as "hits" (a term that is not in this game) and being Wounded as being "dazed." Just a suggestion for clarity and ease of new players learning. - If you have a house rule, apply it equally. There were two instances of dice rolls where a die ended up on top of another die. In the first instance, the player simply picked up the top die and placed it in the tray. In the next instance the player (the other one) was instructed to re-roll that die by the first player. I mean, you guys do what you want of course, but a little consistency removes doubt over favoritism. Questions. These could all be me messing up or misunderstanding, but maybe not. Either way, getting things right is never a bad idea, especially since we are all learning. - At one point Clones were going to Advance, but instead they did a "double dash." What was that? Was it Defensive Maneuver twice (which, of course, you cannot do) or did I miss something? - Gar got a Pin from an Attack that I don't think Wounded him (could be wrong - sometimes it was unclear exactly what had happened), and Ahsoka used her Fierce Protector. How did she do that? - There was an Attack made that was *followed* by using Coordinated Fire. That's not the rule. CF must be used before rolling the dice. I imagine this is to prevent allowing players to see if they need to spend the Force on CF (once Wounded) or not. You don't get to know that info before deciding to use CF or not. - What were your rules for the stepped platform? It appeared that the steps were wider than Range 1, so a Shove would not clear them, and you can't really balance models half way down slopes. Just wondering what your rules were for making this terrain functional. - I think you may be playing Pushes and Pulls, especially from Shoves, a bit incorrectly. When a character is Pushed or Pulled it must move the full distance. Plus, in cases of multiple Shoves, you need to resolve each Option fully before going to the next Option. So, when Vader did three Shoves on Maul, you would create the angle for the first one, Push Maul a full R1, then Pull Vader a full R1. Then you put down the angle tool for the next one, and repeat. Then the same for the third. You don't get to Push Maul 1+1+1 and then, after, move Vader anywhere he wants within R3. Vader has to Pull in three distinct FULL R1 Pulls. He can opt to not use all three, put for each one he does use, he has to go the full R1 and has to be aware of his angle. Whew! Hopefully that doesn't sound harsh. It's not meant to. I'm just interested in making sure I'm getting things right as we learn. Thanks again for sharing, and keep it going!
First off, love you took the time to watch and comment! Thanks! I will try to go through these, and answer them. 1: details are hazy, but if the clones 'double dashed' it was likely a defensive maneuver, followed by just a partial movement, or a dash if they were still caught within engagement range (which, I think did happen) 2: Might need a time stamp on that one, as I do not quite recall that set of interactions 3: That was a timing issue. It had been discussed before we committed that the intent was to use coordinated fire as per the attack. We try to play by intent as closely as possible, as these are meant to be friendly games. You will often see cases of us letting the other play back track on a decision or action, provided we do not get too far ahead of ourselves 4:We kind of had to figure out rules on the fly for the temple platform. We basically treated the steps like terrain that a base would not fit on, hence why any movement that was not enough to clear it stopped at the edges 5: For pushes and pulls, we make sure we check angles before committing, off camera. It allows us to speed up the application, and reach the end result in a way that flows, instead of jumping back and forth. It is a quality of life aspect that is done to reduce monotonous clips. If people want to see it broken down, however, we are always up for it, but it can add a surprising amount of time to the over all video As for the suggestions you made, to address the first one, we are actively trying to break that bad habit. We play multiple games, each with their own terminology. It gets jumbled quite a bit, especially with the added pressure of filming. Might not seem like much, but it is an oddly challenging aspect at times to find the right word, on the spot. We are working on it, though. As for the cocked dice. That is always a tricky one, due to tone and the like. My philosophy is that my guest gets final say on if it is cocked or not, as long as it is not egregiously and obviously so. So, sometimes I will pose the question, and let them make the decision, which sometimes leads to them just grabbing the die and rerolling it, or simply placing it. It can sometimes seem inconsistent, depending on how much of the content you have watched. In the end, we do try to keep things as consistent and equally applied as possible (there are many times you will also see a die that appears cocked, with nothing said about it, so it does kind of even out in the wash). I hope that addresses your comments. Once again, I really appreciate the time you took to watch and comment as you did. Hope you come back for more, and we keep improving to make it worth while!
Correct me if I’m wrong - but I don’t think you’d be able to use an ingress point on a dash, jump, advance, since it isn’t a ‘move action’. You can only then after a move action during the units activation
Don’t forget when you shove away you have to move your character towards that character if you follow up. A couple times it looks like you shoved one way but “followed” the opposite direction which I don’t think is legal!
You have a 'cone' of towards. As long as you are moved within the cone, it is towards. I cannot recall the page, but the rule back has some picture of examples of what pushed towards/away looks.like, and how to determine the direction
@@AegisbrandStudios oh no, I know how it works, but at one point you moved the enemy left and went right and judging on positioning(you didn’t put the tool down for the cone) I don’t think it was a legal move is all I’m saying.
We always check the shoves and such before rolling the camera to ensure we are within the proper arcs. Add to it, the camera perspective can sometimes skew the look of the angle
I think your Mando’s last activation. You could’ve taken cover for the extra small move, then moves and taken the point - just FYI. Great game and love the shatterpoint content!
If I'm reading the rules right I don't think an ingress point can be used after a take cover action. Page 37 of the rules only specifies that an ingress point can be used after an advance, climb, dash or jump.
I believe you have to shuffle the shatterpoint card back into the deck when you pay a force.. it’s a risk you take for trying to gamble with the force!
So glad AMG realizes all you do for their community! Also for me I’ll probably just stick to mainly SP official terrain besides scatter stuff. I think it’s hard to use third party terrain
I hope I understand your question here, so I will try to answer. The ability will always tell you how it impacts the unit and characters within it. Shatterpoint uses very precise language when dealing with their rules and abilities. This means you will often see abilities refer to the unit, as well as the character(s) within it, even if the unit is comprised of only a single character. So, when you see an ability, it may specify that a character within the unit can benefit from an ability. Other times, it may specify all characters man. It all comes down to how the ability is worded. So, for instance, in this game the Grand Inquisitor's Tactical ability allows a single Inquistorious Secondary/Supporting character in another unit to dash, as well as himself. While and ability like Ashoka's Force Speed, will only effect a single character within her unit (Ashoka). I hope that answers your question
So, usual copping to any mistakes we caught! There are some instances of triggering the Fifth Brothers ability on a non-Inquisitorus character. Our bad there. Caught it a bit late.
Mistakes happen, no worries. Gar saxon had issues when he activated. You only trigger pride after a move action and a jump is just that a jump not an action. Nothing super impactful
Kenobi out if hiding can ALWAYS choose himself with Run!!! Choose a character in this unit. OR a character that is engaged He doesn't need to be engaged to run. Other allies do.
Need a forum ruling on that, to be honest. Because there is no break in the clause, it sounds like it is naming Kenobi, or another character, and then puts the condition of being engaged
@@AegisbrandStudios The wording on that would be would simply be Choose an allied character that is engaged, that character....... It's not lol. The or gives choice. Obi is very scared does much running.
Scale definitely lets them climb. As for the second part, the forums have since clarified whether or not the hunker is gained if neither of them actually dash (This was filmed before the forums were answering questions, so we had to take some liberties)
just for the future, Obi's run ability can always target himself(he does not have to be engaged) so if noone is engaged like at the beginning of the game he basically just gets to advance twice
We filmed this prior to the rules forums having an answer for it, so we had to make a determination at the time. Having said that, with a game that has, otherwise, tight wording on its rules, this one is awkwardly written, and could have been made more clear. Regardless, the rules forum has since clarified it
I know it wouldn’t be legal, but I’d love to see a battle report where you pair primary kenobi with secondary kenobi, and Ashoka with padawan Ashoka. Sort of a what if scenario where the future has to team up with the past to take on a threat.
About 24min mark you used coordinated fire didn’t that clone unit get wounded by Maul? Do they get to use abilities still? Great video love the content! I’m questioning more than saying error was made?
So, neat thing about this game is that when wounded, the only restrictions in place are that a character/unit cannot: Redacted, contest objectives, or add/remove damage tokens, and have to spend an additional force for abilities. They are actually still able to use abilities, or be influenced by abilities (such as Rex's tactics ability), be moved, targeted by attacks, and so forth. It took me a bit to wrap my noodle around that, as well, as it is totally different than almost every other game out there.
Too much sloppy movement - a fixed camera to allow you to measure and place models better would probably be better than trying to hold the camera and move the models single handedly
Sorry you do not like the camera movement. My personal opinion is that a dynamic camera makes for far more entertaining and engaging battle reports than a static camera. It definitely comes down to taste. Having said that, I am trying out different stabilizing mounts, not mention working on getting a new camera that reduces the shakiness of it all. Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback
Thank you for doing Shatterpoint content.

I’m absolutely addicted to shatterpoint content. I would love to see weekly or biweekly videos for sure!
Going to try for biweekly, at least. Weekly would be amazing if I can pull it off without hurting MCP content

Sounds like it could be a fun time
Vader is OP.
He is strong, but I am not sure I would say OP. A lot comes down to how attrition in the game works. Definitely a presence in the game, though
It's more what he adds for his allies... 3 dice for 2 wounds is a hell of a sweet buff. No force or extra actions required.
@@AegisbrandStudios thanks for the clarification!
No problem. This game subverts typical expectations for wargaming in a bunch of ways. We are a month in, and I am still discovering stuff.
Wounded models do still engage. You can just advance away and not have to Dash.
Good correction! It seems like a minor distinction, but it is an important one!
Obi-wan's saber needs a viagra
He had an unfortunate run in with the floor, and the saber bent. I need to not be lazy, and fix it at some point
More I implore
More will come! I am almost well enough to resume filming
@@AegisbrandStudios Sorry to here you have been unwell, may the force be with you.
More Shatterpoint!
