I'm not sure what Rodgers was trying to prove with that move. The only thing I can think of is that Rodgers resented Gerrard's adulation and popularity at Liverpool and wanted to bring him down a couple of pegs
@@D1Snr He was battling internally with the transfer committee over signings so thought he'd flex his muscles to show how in control he was by dropping the best player the club has ever produced against the biggest club in the world. It had nothing to do with what was best for Liverpool FC. It was just a power play by a weak, insecure, petty, little man.
