Back in about 1980 we drove all the way to town at that time one of the buildings was the Cook House inside was a cook stove that was over 8 ft can you imagine the amount of meals that were made on that stove amazing. Years later there was a big flood that came through and wiped out a lot of the buildings as well thank you for the tag along 🤔

@casedoumasr656 That's amazing! It's awesome that you even got to drive to it! I would love to have seen and experienced such a resort deep in the mountains like that when it was flourishing. I'm sure the meals out of that oven were fantastic at that time. 😀
      Thanks for watching!

Above the town are some beautiful lakes to camp on! Silver Lake, and Twin lakes.

Awesome! Thanks for mentioning that. We'd love to hike up to those and camp. We'll add a follow-up video when we do. Any recommendations for up there?

@@northwestexplorers The trail up to Poodle Dog pass from Monte Cristo is well maintained and clears of snow around early July. I prefer to visit Silver Lake and camp near the waterfall between the Twin lakes. The hike up Silver Creek is shorter, but the trail is not well maintained at all and heavily overgrown. People regularly get lost trying to bush-wack up to the pass from the southern side. It took me 2 days to make it up there that direction. The profile picture of me is on one of the many washouts that old mining road on the Silver Creek trail.
