Congratulations on Disclosure's Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Recording (Higher than Ever Before). Is this the first time that a Drum and Bass song was nominated for a Grammy?
I don't know if it's the first song in this genre or not, but something curious is that the other nominees are almost in the same genre...
I love the Amen break being echoed in the following measure, keeps this track SUPER fresh instead of just having the Amen break going straight through the whole time. Just an incredibly dope way to showcase the most classic and widely used sample of all time, and THAT is just one of the many reasons that Disclosure are among the best. This whole album is like a trip back to the earlier days of electronic music, but with Disclosure's trademark vibe and super clean production making everything POP!!!
I've not liked their output for a long time but this album and this track particularly caught me as an aging junglist. It's always nice to hear choppage rather than a rolling amen, they killed it with this track fair play
That moment at 2:27 where the staccato line doubles for a moment gives me chills every time :)

What I love about disclosures music is it a so repayable. Some music is Dope the first few times then gets boring. I think I like disclosures music the more I listen to it!

Settle being a masterpiece to be remembered for all time.
Caracal with it's beautiful features and collaborations with some amazing writing.
Energy, a refreshing return, and the title track having Eric Thomas come through once more to create a thunderous return to dance music. Collabs like Mick Jenkins, Kehlani, Syd, Amine.
But Alchemy is different. This time everything is different...
it's beautiful. This album was created with no strings or ties to labels, the process was natural. I always imagined Disclosure doing jungle. This is everything I expected. even have Guy himself on the vocals for this one!
But what stands out the most. This is pure Disclosure, through and through. No features. Their journey, their experiences, this album is the PINNACLE of Disclosure's evolution, the way the album is so cohesive and everything blends beautifully together. As Eric Thomas said to get to that next level is to change the way you think. Disclosure's build up to this album was unlike any other. Instead of singles, the whole album got announced two days before release into locations. I prefer it this way because you get to hear the whole album, and you go in with a completely fresh listen. It was a very smart move to do.
There was unbridled energy put into this entire album. Everything is so refreshing and it makes you want to replay it.
My only complaint was that I wish some songs were longer; they have released 3 extended mix already and I believe Looking For Love's should be coming soon.
They have completely delivered on all fronts with this one. With EPs scattered through their albums, their evolution shines in Alchemy. This is as Disclosure as Disclosure gets, it's got qualities of all three albums and then some. But this one is unique.
