I understand the battery in frame will be the norm , but I have to admit I do prefer having my battery separate from the frame and separate from the structural Integrity of the frame. I can still ride my 2017 Dual Sport Plus without a battery and it will not look out of place and it will not affect the structural Integrity of it. And even if the structural Integrity of those new frames is not compromised while riding without the battery, it leaves the open area vulnerable and it will sure look stupid.
Yeah, the price is higher on these ebikes but I also really like Trek. Great innovation, very reliable products, professional staff that's easy to work with, and lots of shops to provide support.
@@ElectricBikeReview Hey! Happy New Year. Thanks for the reviews, they have been very helpful narrowing down what I should consider making such a purchase. Great review Court! Would like to touch on a few points with Trek: Curious to know what the Carbon edition retails for and at what price points for any upgrades. Not a big fan of the Purion display. Would like to see an Intuvia upgrade on the higher end models (as standard equipment) or as an available option if possible. Love the integrated motor on the carbon model, however would also like to see the same integration with the motor tilted on all of the other models reviewed in this presentation. I also may opt for a custom build (ie: LaMere Diode with Shimano E8000 Motor) over the Trek Carbon model for superior components and low weight in that class. Thanks 2019 will be exciting for E-bikes!
@@stefanievanderlaag5784 Exactly cheapo it is. Not sure why Trek is still using Purion on their upscale models at this price point. They s/b giving us a better interface on higher end models. A little skeptical at this point. Trek E-bikes are still great quality though!
@@islandaerial3414 My pick would be the FS7 which is almost the same as the LT7 except The LT has longer suspension travel to handle extreme off road conditions.
Deore and xt in 3/4/5k $ bikes? I just bought full sram eagle nx group for 400$ I really don't understand that. You have to keep these prices to earn in Germany, USA and other developed countries? For how long?
Great question, James. No, I haven't heard anything for a while but it sounded like a Chinese company bought them and are reworking things to be more affordable. Excited to see what they come up with in the future. BionX had some great IP and patents :)
Hi Court! Hope your cycling in the New Year.Anyway I'm impressed by your love of bikes.Wanted to ask you what you think about the company "Divvy" bikes. They are rental docked bikes found in the Chicagoland area, anyway great video buddy hi-5!✋
Yeah, that's interesting to me as well... just because motorcycles seem more complex and weigh more. Maybe they've just been around longer and since they don't come with the expensive high-end lithium batteries you end up paying for "fuel" separately and ongoing. I think they cost more over the long run.
@@ElectricBikeReview only if you buy from the big guys. Price points ( (with good quality frames, suspension and components) are much lower on 'direct to consumer' and smaller manufacturers. They just don't get the 'ink' that the 'big guys' get. Do your internet homework and you will find similar quality bikes at less than half the price.
@@ElectricBikeReview Some wonder why there are many cars that are less expensive than a lot of motorcycles! I suppose some of that boils down to mass production, and then there are manufacturers who will charge as much as people are willing to pay.
Lovely bikes but I couldn't spend that much on something that could be stolen quite easily, I have a redux diamond frame and I'm paranoid enough with that, can't imagine if I spend any more.
haibike has some serious competition with these Treks. Bad part is they use the PURION display in 2019 - including Trek's top of the line $9000. Powerfly LT 9.9 Plus
There's only 3 levels display available for the bosch systems, And they have changed little in the last few years! The purion seem to be the display of choice with manufacturers for it's size and simplicity... And I guess cost, Which they will give to you if you want a different display fitted.

I wonder how many years after they stop making them you will still be able to get batteries and new motors as they will become worth less than pedal bikes once you can no longer buy spare electrical componentry.
There's not that many different tech variations, if you get a mainstream drivetrain like the Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano or Brose. Those are very common and spares will be available for a decade at least. You can even get new delorean spare parts today, over thirty years after they stopped making them.
dan miles yes but unless you have a place to ride a dirt bike or the vehicle to transport one then a dirt bike is out of the question. I would love a dirt bike but have neither the vehicle or place to ride one. I could ride this anywhere even a public park without anyone batting an eyelid.
Nice bikes, the price is of course absurdly high. Shame. You can buy a motorcycle for similar amount of money a much much more complicated machine than an E-bike.
An ebike takes you a hundred miles for a quarter worth of electricity. How far does your motorcycle take you for a quarter worth of gas? Hang on I like calculating. 50mpg, 3 bucks a gallon, 12 quarters in there so that's 50 miles divided by 12 so a tad over 4 miles. That's not very far.
