banomoya means that they have a certain aura about them. So basically it says independent women have that great aura about them, that when they pass you can feel it. The whole song basically celebrates independent women that can do everything for themselves and do not need a man to provide for them.

In South Africa there is constant trash talking about women that look after themselves, which they are called "Slay queens",Slay queens are usually women that don't come from best of backgrounds and act like are luxurious yet without working hard, but sleeping around for that lifestyle.
So Busiswa is speaking on behalf of women that earn a good/clean money to have a luxurious lifestyle ,expressing that not every woman is like that nor is trying to seem lux without earning a good living/work hard (kuthi huuuu/is an expression of presence a person has and diginity). She is expressing this as if she is talking about her friends, but in reality speaking about some women within our society that have so much class men themselves can't afford them hence the expression of buying their own Champagne, they will/can pay their own lobola/bride price.

Yess Bryan, You are right its about women independence. Just to summarise Busiswa's part, it says her friends go out with their own money, buy their own champain, they can even afford their own lobola ( brideprice/ dowry). "Banomoya" can be explained as when they pass you can feel the wind blowing ( Xa bedlula kuthi Huuh). They party all night and still go home without leaving with a guy...#sideNote I tried hey, You know English never loved us.. Especially Xhosa as the old saying says 'isiXhosa asitolikwa' which means Xhosa cannot be translated.

  • @Ngasii
    @Ngasii 5 лет назад +9

    Hey guys
Ngasii here with a bit of context:
The song today is Banomoya "Ba-no-mo-ya" directly meaning "They got wind" but contextually means "they got the vibe/they got the spirit"
The song has themes of female independence and women empowerment as Busiswa explained the lyrics in an Instagram post on 7 September. The song is from her perspective telling a guy or guys not to think her friends are easily impressed.
This song is a Soul House song with a Gqom drum pattern driving it instead of a regular four-on-the-floor drum beat.
Gqom typically has a grittier and more minimalist sound to it where as Soul House notably layer-heavy.
The catch phrase of this tune, "Kuthi Huuu" in a way is an onomatopoeia as "Huuuu" is the sound wind makes when it brushes past in a gust. The full line "Xa bedlula kuthi huuu" means "When they walk by all you feel is HUUUU" [their presence hits you hard!]
TNS brings some love in with his verse as well as a party line at the end.
    Busiswa:
Zonk'ezam xaz'buy'uzoz'bona [You'll see all my mine when they come through]
Banomoya [Thge got the spirit/vibe/"That Thing"]
Xa bedlula kuthi huuu [When they walk by all you feel is HUUUU]
    uzokholwa [You'll believe it]
Bayaz'thengela nechampange [They buy themselves champagne]
Bazoz' khuphela nelobola [They'll even pay their own dowry]
    Ungazobhora x2 [Don't be a bore/ don't kill the vibe]
    Unga bhud'uthi "Nas'iSlay Queen" [You'd be mistaken saying, "She;s a Slay Queen"]
ngendlela esestylini ngay'utshom'am' [The way my friend be in style/on fleek]
ungad'ucimb'uyayi ncumel'imali uzombamba [You'd even think she smiles at the sight of money/she fancies money , you gonna get her easily]
kanti kunga phela le party uyahamba [only to find out at the end of the party she's gonna just leave]
engawinwanga [without a man/ without being "won"]
    TNS
Ndililahle UnguMlilo [I am the coal, you are a flame]
Sitshisa Konke Esendleleni yethu [We burn everything in our way]
Ndiliraki, naw'ulilo [I am a fool, you are the same]
Wonk'umunut'uyayi bona lento (Oh oh) [Everyone sees this]
Heh thina sithi thina sohamb'ekseni [We, we say we're leaving in the morning]
Heh thina sithi thina sogroov'ekseni [We, we say we're grooving in the morning]
Phind'usifakele'leyo ngoma [Play that song fdr us again]
Phind'usifakele'leyo ngoma [Play that song for us again]
Heh thina sithi thina sohamb'ekseni [We, we say we're leaving in the morning]
Heh thina sithi thina sogroov'ekseni [We, we say we're grooving in the morning]
Phind'usifakele'leyo ngoma [Play that song fdr us again]
Phind'usifakele'leyo ngoma [Play that song for us again]

You guys should check out the Legbegbe remix by Maphorisa and Niniola. Or Major Lazer and Babes Wodumo's Orkant (Balance Pon It). They're both future bops, I'm predicting it!
