@@magalyperez-zo9oc I know you didn’t ask me but I moved from Chicago to California a few years ago and California is better imo. Californias weather alone makes it way better than Chicago
I moved to Los Angeles from Indiana after I graduated college with 2 suitcases and $2,000. This year is my 30 year anniversary living here in Santa Monica with my 2 children and little dog.
I can’t imagine the rent difference from then to now. I remember in 98 my dad rented a beautiful 3bd home in OC. It was 1400 sq ft. And it was 1200 rent. In 09 we rented a 4 bd 1600 sq ft house in an amazing neighborhood. We paid 2400. Stayed for 8 yrs. The house is now 5700 a month. It’s outrageous. I moved to care for my grandma because family is out of state. I don’t know what we will do when she passes. My 2 aunts get the house (even though I had to stop working and give 24 hr care and they haven’t seen her in 10 yrs and call once a month) With 1 income and kids in college. It’s going to be hard.

Native of LA here, currently living in a neighboring county. I grew up on the LA and OC beaches, I remember as a kid asking my sister “whats on the other side of the ocean?” Being a kid I thought she would say another part of LA, instead she said, “it depends on which way you go, you can end up in Russia, China, Australia”…..😳 that’s when I realized we were at the end of the continental US……😅 I once had to live in a not so nice apartment, I too had to take what I could at the time. It taught me to be more selective the next time. I too cannot and will not live with roaches…. 🤮

Hey I just subscribe I used to live in LA In 2018,2022 and it was nice seeing a very authentic real vlog. Hope everything is still working out LA is a very tough city. To answer ur question at the end of the video u made all the right choices apartment searching in LA is a struggle the valley is the best spot for someone new. I love u mentioned phoenix its a really nice city feels like a affordable LA. Can’t wait to continue seeing how ur journey goes throughout the city. This was a very very good put together video and I just really missed seeing a good vlog and u delivered it.
Thank you for the sweetest message! You’re right I think if I want to be in LA I have to choose the valley, even if it is a little far. To live more comfortable. I will continue to put my journey out there thanks for subscribing friend!
Literally follow your dreams, one thing I discovered is staying or picking a place based on family is NOT a good decision, ESPECIALLY if you know where you really want to be!
I say settle for now until your money goes up and then get your dream apartment. You have to start somewhere. Unless you have a great paying job you can't go from 0 to 100 quick. There's nothing really wrong with the place you have now. Compare to the others you saw. I think you made a good choice. At least the outside area is super decent. I did the same thing here in New York City. I lived in a area and building that was trash and ghetto because of the way the building was kept and plus the people here wasn't making it any better. Cars was being parked on the sidewalk in front of buildings and trash was everywhere even though there was janitors. As soon as we got the memo that a new building was about to be built and we was going to have a new landlord and property manager I was excited. The explanation on how that building and neighborhood was going to be was everything I needed to hear. I applied for their apartments and it took me over a year to get all paperwork for the apartment. I was told by the property manager that I will be moving in by the end of June when it's done. I was too excited and can't wait to get out of my apartment I'm in now. Which is crappy by the way but spacious.
I've been like that my whole life too, girl. I would just go where i want to go. People used to ask me crazy questions, like am i running from the police. 😅😅 or say what they say to you, "i dont know how you can just go somewhere and make it". Etc. Im like, its not that hard (at least not when you're younger, like you are now). I could just blink and get a job. Not so much now (for some reason, agism is real girl). But anywho, as long as you know how to research, be resourceful, and follow your gut, you can do it. I wouldnt trade being this way for anything. Ive learned so much, got to see so much--- that others only dream of Get it girl! I love your spirit!
You rock! I'll be looking for a place in a few weeks. The applications suck. Hope I find something right away. Glad you are happy and independent and doing you. I hope I find a good place , but if it's not perfect, I'll at least be in LA and then I can look for a better place the next year. Definitely do not want DTLA.
If there wasn't so much growing resentment for transplants from natives, I'd love to see some sort of informational transition guide from natives to transplants on what to expect, what to be prepared for when moving to L.A.
It's interesting to see where people decide to move when they come to L.A. As an L.A. native I wish I could help all my people moving into the city. For $1800 and up you could find a nice 1 bedroom in Inglewood or Hawthorne. Never count on 1 application keep applying until approved. It's a game here in L.A. Never ever live in Downtown L.A or Hollywood It's gross nobody from L.A. lives there. I hope you found a better place to live. Oh 1 more thing Never trust a sales person or someone renting to you they just want to rent the apartment quickly.
How does apartment complex go with a “feeling” how about you actually check your references and call your jobs to verify they sounded real sketchy girl. Just found you randomly this morning on RUclips and I love your video.
@@lashere I’m hoping for koreatown. It feels so overwhelming lol I’m coming from the east coast. I have to find a job first 😭💀 then I’ll fly out and look for an apartment like how you did.
I have been in southern California since 1989 from Chicago. I was 39. My daughter was 8. It was a struggle but i made it. However i never lived in LA. unkess you are living in the affluent areas perimeter areas it is nasty filthy and GHETTO. i have lived in orange county which is due east Of LA my entire time of living in Southern California. Its safe clean but mostly white and Asian. If you are not a introvert please friends and relatives with you or make sure they are living in Southern California. I love CALIFORNIA but it is a lonely life. People here are FAKE and full of much GAME. both brothers and sistas. Do not depend on finding a male mate in Southern California. The men are IRRESPONSIBLE and want you to take care of them. If you fine with that go for it. LA is unique to all other urban areas. I know. I lived in the midwest and the south. I have a degree and a homeowner now for 30 years. All the apartments i lived in before purchasing my home was very nice but in orange county. If you can live in a non black area try orange county outside of LA. not easy to live here due to constant racial profiling since trump been on the scene. But its beautiful clean and SAFE.
Hello Lady let me first start by saying God Bless You. Secondly you put me so much in the mind frame of myself with my cat although I have 2. #3 I came across this video because I’m in the same process of wanting to move to the west coast in Los Angeles. I’m neighborhoods shopping via RUclips. I know it’s better in person. However, I actually cried watching your video. I felt your sincerity in wanting to be there and being independent by any means to stay there. Another thought of myself. I’m a Virgo? What’s your sign lol. However, Thanks for sharing and last but not lease. Yes I probably would have settled too just knowing that it was only temporary. This too shall pass. I wish you many blessings in all your endeavors especially in LA 🌴👍🏾🫶🏾
Hey girl! Yes it’s definitely better in person to get a feel for the neighborhood. Each area has a different personality of people and almost income bracket too. Maybe when you narrow it down you could take a trip out here to solidify your choices? And thank you 💕😊 sometimes doing what you have to do to get to the bigger picture is necessary. I’m wishing you the best as well! I’m a Capricorn lol
I am from the Pacific NW and have lived and traveled many places but moved to Orange County CA and now live elsewhere. You pay the price to live in California. It costs so much that a person must work all the time and hardly gets to enjoy it. I refuse to pay more than 2k to rent an apartment. No fridge is the standard here. It’s pretty much cheaper to buy a fridge from Home Depot and get it delivered than to rent an overpriced place that provides a fridge. Roaches live everywhere here. The highest class places can’t even stop them. The newest buildings probably have the least but I wouldn’t know because i’d never pay rent like that.
I have been putting off for a few years now to move to Southern California! My son stay in Moreno Valley and I can transfer my job to California! Everyone tell me I will be just fine but you have really helped!
❤️❤️ yes! How great would it be if this move is the one thing that takes this chapter of your life to new heights? Sounds like everyone supports you too!
I’m an actor but getting booked for the right role isn’t always consistent so I have a small business in e-commerce. It’s all about side hustles when living in LA!
lol girl I just looked for it and the company deleted my review! SMH because they know every word was true. I still have access to it but it’s hidden on their side
I moved to LA alone with my dog from New York. Drove all the way here alone, i completely feel you about being the most independent person you know. If you ever need a friend send me a message. From a fellow RUclipsr ❤
WOW what an experience ! Ur still living in L.A.? and if so how u like it? I always hv wanted to move to Cali but I like Chicago , every time I move somewhere I was end up back here . LOL. any airbnb recommendations in Venus beach / Malibu I like walkable place since I don't like driving , love my Ubers let them deal with the traffic and parking ect! lol. How's Prince by the way its he loving LA and does he get outside or any exercises?
Roaches are a disease. Building owners need to get cited by the environmental health department for not maintaining the units. Then they want to charge the same amount as luxury units. Sorry but no you can’t charge money for a dump! Roaches will infest your appliances you will spend thousands of dollars trying to fix the problem but you can’t because it’s the whole building. Telling you for personal experience don’t rent from shady landlords and environmental health department needs to be held liable too. They need to cite buildings that way the new owner knows what they are getting into incase the tenant decides to sue.
Yes of course! Highly recommend they’re all so nice. And if you have a pet they will take care you ;) just say it’s a service animal. They don’t care. It’s called Aloft El Segundo 475 N Pacific Coast Hwy right by the airport free shuttle
Lived here for 20 years. Leaving in August to an affordable state. Los Angeles in particular has lost the middle class. Homeless everywhere, not what it used to be.
Listen I'm born and raised here in Los Angeles I've been here all my life I raised my children here and I am encouraging my grown children now to leave Los Angeles because the cost of living is just extremely too high the cost of rent is too high and even though my grown kids have really good jobs and are college educated they're still living at home with me as a mother sweetheart I'm telling you you are in for a rude awakening here in Los Angeles California I am so sorry I wish you all the best of luck though
Your children are lucky to have you. I thought most people were leaving los angeles/california in general too. I guess if you're renting like this girl is and are coming from a higher cost of living city like chicago- its probably similar rent in california.
Hey LaShere, I pray that God will keep you. All the questions you have, all the answers you seek can be found in Jesus Christ. You can lean on him and he will carry you through that independent mindset. You will not only be good at being alone but able to lean on someone much stronger than yourself. Jesus really shows up. I am born and raised in LA and have been an actor myself so I get needing to be here to make that happen. I pray you have peace always and contentment in your living situation. God Bless you.
Actually, you were the wrong color for the area. This exact thing happened to someone else only the lady was racist in person so she just bought a house.
I wonder if the people with your application in koreatown were Korean. Because that could have been they only wanted Korean renters - I lived in LA a long time and I know this is true.
Things like that make no sense. Why didn’t they just verify your jobs instead of saying they didn’t THINK you had two full-time jobs? These people are absolutely ludicrous.

Ive learned so much, got to see so much--- that others only dream of
Get it girl! I love your spirit!
You did what you had to do. I moved to here over 14 years ago...best decision ive ever made. Thanks for sharing stay blessed
LA is the best you made a great choice. I’m excited for you
You rock! I'll be looking for a place in a few weeks. The applications suck. Hope I find something right away. Glad you are happy and independent and doing you.
I hope I find a good place , but if it's not perfect, I'll at least be in LA and then I can look for a better place the next year. Definitely do not want DTLA.
Yes exactly! And by then you’ll know the area a bit more too. Good luck!!
If there wasn't so much growing resentment for transplants from natives, I'd love to see some sort of informational transition guide from natives to transplants on what to expect, what to be prepared for when moving to L.A.
I love this vid. Thx for sharing!
Blessings 💞🙏🏾💞... I can imagine 😢 LA expensive and on a budget... prayers 🤲🏾 up, strong faith 💪🏾😔
Just found you randomly this morning on RUclips and I love your video.
thank you for this. im looking to move to LA this summer.
That’s great! LA is amazing. Do you have any areas in mind?
I'm so happy for you stay blessed an positive ❤❤❤
Do you mind sharing what websites you used for apartment hunting?
Wow, what an excellent video. I would have moved in the first one in the valley. I ❤ L.A too , so i understand because it's my dream also.
@@lashere ahhh ha. Yes Capricorns are very much so go getters.
Good luck and I'm happy that you've started on your journey to Happyness! Your lip color is stunning! What lipstick are you using?
You go Girl! God has got You!!❤😂❤❤
I think you made the best decision for the time
How is it a landlords business whether you have a personal life or not? Sounds like some bs they used to excuse just taking an application fee.
I have been thinking of you..I love your new place.. .Is your mom doing better❤❤❤
are you going to vlog going to acting and modeling auditions in la? id love to see it!
Also, where did you see the reviews on the apartments? Where did you look that up? Thanks.
such a great video! thank you😍
What a great and honest video. Thank you
You are very inspiring ❤❤❤
I have been putting off for a few years now to move to Southern California! My son stay in Moreno Valley and I can transfer my job to California! Everyone tell me I will be just fine but you have really helped!
❤️❤️ yes! How great would it be if this move is the one thing that takes this chapter of your life to new heights? Sounds like everyone supports you too!
What is it that you do for work? I'm trying to do the same thing you are but I don't have the same job propects as most folks who make LA content.
I’m an actor but getting booked for the right role isn’t always consistent so I have a small business in e-commerce. It’s all about side hustles when living in LA!
@@lashereThat’s smart.
I love this
Girllll i used to live in that building lmaooo THEEEEE ghetto!!!
😅😅‼️
Did you delete your review? I tried to find it i definitely wanted to read the rest lol
lol girl I just looked for it and the company deleted my review! SMH because they know every word was true. I still have access to it but it’s hidden on their side
I moved to LA alone with my dog from New York. Drove all the way here alone, i completely feel you about being the most independent person you know. If you ever need a friend send me a message. From a fellow RUclipsr ❤
Good to see your doing well.
I am planning on making my move soon 🎉 do u mind sharing the hotel you used?
Yes of course! Highly recommend they’re all so nice. And if you have a pet they will take care you ;) just say it’s a service animal. They don’t care. It’s called Aloft El Segundo 475 N Pacific Coast Hwy right by the airport free shuttle
@@lashere thank you soo much! Good luck with your journey!
How did u find apartments to look for
Lived here for 20 years. Leaving in August to an affordable state. Los Angeles in particular has lost the middle class. Homeless everywhere, not what it used to be.
Very good video. New subscriber.
Thank you!! That means a lot. More videos to come
@@lashere You are welcome.
The place she wanted didn’t want her when they saw her, but had no balls to say that. 😖
It wasn’t meant for her.
Roaches? Heck no.
My son did the same thing, moved to LA to act.
I live in 3 apartments in La and all had roaches to good to be true ☹️
Take a deep breath every now and then.
I would have settled as you did.
What’s that hotel I think I want try this how much was it
@@Iamambitious92 Aloft Hotel in El Segundo
Stay off of spirit airlines. Girl! Girl! Wing and a prayer.
I can’t find the review 😭
😊
Actually, you were the wrong color for the area. This exact thing happened to someone else only the lady was racist in person so she just bought a house.
No tour?
Prince 🥰
God bless you
36:05-“Being in your 20s is hard”??
She ain’t seen nothing yet. I wish her well!
I wonder if the people with your application in koreatown were Korean. Because that could have been they only wanted Korean renters - I lived in LA a long time and I know this is true.
I believe it
Besides the roach this 3rd apartment was tacky!
I know that place I was going to move there girl the roaches were all in the hallway I said no way
Things like that make no sense. Why didn’t they just verify your jobs instead of saying they didn’t THINK you had two full-time jobs? These people are absolutely ludicrous.
Beats me 🤷🏽♀️ absolutely annoying!
