- My niece and I went to an ELEPHANT SANCTUARY in KANCHANABURI THAILAND! It was a Half Day Private TripAdvisor Tour Trip and only took us around 3 hours car ride from Bangkok. It was our very first encounter up close with real rescued elephants. We had amazing time feeding, bathing and connecting with these magnificent creatures :) When the baby elephant Wanmai wrapped his trunk around my arm, I felt a real connection.

We were very glad this wasn't a typical elephant park...it was an elephant sanctuary that rescues elephants around Thailand. It's tourists like us that can change animal tourism - next time please say no to elephant rides and performances.

this is the private tour I took with my niece. www.tripadvisor.com/AttractionProductReview-g293916-d17597187-Private_Tour_to_Kanchanaburi_Erawan_Waterfall_and_Elephant_Care-Bangkok.html (we went to the Erawan waterfall first, quick lunch, Sai Yok elephant sanctuary then the death railway. the total trip took about 12-13 hours (we got promotional price 6 months ago, not sure about the price now). My next video -Erawan waterfall is almost done, will be publishing it in the next few days after I work on the music, subtitles etc...thanks for your support Fico!

Hi, my niece booked the tour through tripadvisor - search for kanchanaburi private tour :)
How long was the elephant experience minus the drive .
The whole tour took about 12-13 hours including the drive both ways. We spent about 1.5 - 2 hours there (little bit tiring though since the tour covered 3 places - the elephant sanctuary, erawan waterfall and death railway), if you have more time, I recommend spending a night near the national park

@@nagodio if the tiger place isn't too far from the elephant sanctuary, just 2 places, a half day trip from Bangkok should be enough time. I hope you enjoy your time with your family :)

Thanks for your kind comment! (sorry I was traveling in Japan and just came back to see your message). Yes, Kanchanaburi is such a beautiful place, I hope more people get to go see :) You should also try visiting some islands in Thailand (so many beautiful ones out there)
how much you paid for elephant visit?
It was included in the private tour (trip advisor) but if you were to go there by yourself, it shouldn't cost that much :)
What is the cost price ??
1:51 (it was a gift from my niece who booked it for us, I believe it was around USD $90-100/person at the time for a private van tour with a guide (cheaper per person if more than 4 people in a group). Also there should be cheaper option if you join other smaller group tours. You can check tripadvisor / airbnb experience tour. I hope this helps! :)

If you are bathing and feeding the elephants, that is a sign the sanctuary is not an ethical place!!
The elephants does not want random tourists to "connect" with them, do not treat animals as teddybears!!
It is an abuse to use the elephants for your own benefits and pleasure.
As an animal lover myself, I respect your opinion and I do agree that there is form of animal tourism involved with these kinds of so-called elephant sanctuaries because it takes a lot of money and manpower to run
this place. However, some of these senior elephants were brought in from other places with much worse living conditions where they were physically abused (hit), forced to carry people and chained up... I guess this is the lesser of two evils. I sincerely hope they get to live freely in the wild under protection.
