I have an old flightstick on my Apple II and yes, it's really great to have analog control. Much more fun than @ Atari 800/Commodore 64. Does anybody know about Atari 5200? Do we have analog control there too?
Same! I played it in green monochrome on an Apple II. And I don't remember fighter jets and aliens that would try to shoot you down, only the tanks on the ground. I wonder if the Apple II port was different than what is in this video, or if I just don't remember those details since the last time I played this game was in the fifth grade in around 1993.
I played this for hours back in the day. Getting a perfect score was very hard but doable. Wasn't there some sort of special reward for saving everyone?
@@julespleeswoah859 :D I was actually talking about how much I sucked at Chopliifter... but I was so bad at Karateka I didn't even know there was an eagle until I saw the RUclips video hahaha Good times getting my ass kicked though. :)
If memory serves me correctly, you could crash your chopper if you landed too rapidly (at an angle). Every once in a while, we would purposefully shoot and/or land on hostages, and crash our choppers. Then go play Moon Patrol or Zaxxon.
Who had ever tout that sega would make this game first for the apple 2 and then 3 years later make an arcade version of it? And who had ever tout that sega would inspire choplifter from nintendo’s unsuccesful sky skipper?? I absolutely NEVER tout that.
It wasn't that the game had no colors, just that the monitor on the Apple ii e couldn't show them. When we played this game through the computer monitor, it was black and green, but when my dad hooked up our TV set as a monitor, it showed the different colors
Brøderbund - always top quality games. Original and very addictive gameplay.
The unique thing about this version was speed was precisely controlled by moving the Apple joystick. Life was amazing when this game came out.

The graphics were incredible for the time
Sweet! Im watching this video exactly 8 years to the day that they posted this video lol

I love that they all are wearing bell-bottoms. : ]

I saved them all, once. Not easy. The idiots have no sense of self preservation.

That ending, though. Dan Gorlin put a lot of thought into THAT part! 😁
Almost as extensive as 'Karateka'. 💪😎🤟
This game had an ending? Hahaha shows how much I sucked :)
@@splatbubble the eagle was the killer

This game is very frustrating and annoying after awhile
It’s on a emulator

The best 8-bit version.
Pure innocence...
They even reused the Lode Runner character in Choplifter.
Lmao, so I did remember correctly that you could blow the houses open to get people out... That never sat right with me
Those who know, brun.

Five dead? No medal for you!
When I use to play this game; there were times I shot down the combat jets and satellites.
hatırladım ya efsane bu
The C64 version has way better sound effects.
A knockoff of defender.
Never thought broderbund would
Stoop so low😂
Too bad that there aren't any 4 engine bombers in this VG (video game).
