Charity shops get their stock for free, why not be more realistic with their prices and turn the stock over faster, instead of turning away donations or sitting on stock for ages? It's an odd way for them to do business IMO, especially as many are supposedly there to not only help their charities, but also support the poorest in society.
I think the average buyer has become more discerning over the last 20 years or so. The poorly furnished "old style" charity shops have given way to more modern alternatives with laminate floors and more paid staff. In addition to that, the major players in the game, when looking at new stores, run studies on foot-fall and are far more picky than their less modern counterparts. This means higher rents. Some also pay people to "trawl" for items (the charity bags you get through the door every so often), and this also costs. In short, it's becoming big business and far more professional, which means there is a pressure on the shop managers to maximise their profits to make the whole thing worthwhile.
Some of the prices are insane! You’d think they’d want to sell it low and have a high turnover. Nevertheless you got some good finds! Them YSL jeans looked very decent 👍
Really like the idea of pop up charity shops in unused retail shops. Good for the charity, the town and us!!! I do think it was probably priced up a bit due to where it was, if you had pop up charity shops in other areas I am sure they would have to adjust the prices depending on location. An enjoyable vlog thanks George.😀👍
I noticed u saw a barbour jacket that's what I buy I'm bulk from a supplier to resell on ebay. It costs me equivalent of £12 a jacket. I sold one 2 weeks ago for £150 I couldn't believe when I found a jacket worth that much in that box

I think they used to be really under priced and now has gone too far in the wrong direction.
Basically how they used to be.

Seems charitable shops are forgetting about turn overs to try and make more profit..seems the free stuff is making them greedy.
