    I am so late to join the party but like one viewer said, "it does feel like I hit the youtube/author tube jackpot!" This series is AMAZING! I'm just about 2K words into my novel so I've barely scratched the surface. I am so happy this appeared in my feed! I printed the workbook, and will play this again.

    My first NaNoWriMo I decided to do on October 30th. I won in 10 days, but continued. I got COVID really bad, and managed to finish November with 160,000 words. Guess how much I kept? Over the next year, I whittled it down and polished it until it was 114,000 words before sending it to my editor. I published just under 110,000. That's why I'm watching this video ... no more wasting time!

    Hey Sarra,
    It’s the same for me. I use to be a panster and that worked for 1 book. When I started writing my second book, I just couldn’t get the story to move until I plotted it all out. Since then, I realize that I can’t write without knowing at least the direction a scene needs to go.

You always have links in your description. Anyways, big fan of your "how-to" series. Hope to release my own first book next year and your videos really helped a lot. I'm a total pantser who uses omniscient POV and it's worked very well for me in the past, but I find that my writing has changed a little this past year, so I'm trying to be a little more structured with my stories. It's a little painful, but I want to keep improving my writing and if plotting a little more will do that, so be it. Great video.

Also, research because I'm pulling from various mythologies, legends and folktales. This video really helped, thank you.

    Thanks so much for this series. I'm currently outlining my first fantasy novel, which I'm planning to expand into a series. It's daunting, but I'm excited nonetheless.
    The three books on writing I've found to be most helpful and insightful for me thus far are, Writing for Emotional Impact by Karl Iglesias, Scene and Structure by Jack Bickam, and of course, On Writing by Stephen King.
    Keep up the great work!

    Hi thanks for the inspiration ❤️ I just write, first draft just write, I'm not editing anything. I just follow the story where ever it goes, my characters controls the way. When my draft is done, I'm pulling everything to pieces, tighting plot, characters, settings etc. And then write it all again this time in a tight plan. And I'm writing by hand, can't write on a pc. Thanks for the inspiration. Sandra

    I am a Panster, I would just sit at my home office, grab my laptop and start writing. I would reread what I had, which I did not think it was bad. I actually enjoyed it, but when I had my laptop read to me. I did get more thinking into it, which made another character sound stalkerish haha. So I deleted it, I do regret it because I had confidence in it, but something kept making me feel like something is off. I am doing the plot and outlining and see if that helps make more sense. Thank you for the video.

    I learned how to write in the screenplay form so I still write my first draft in this form which takes me about less than two months. My second draft goes into the novel form which I'm still learning. This may be a longer progress but it helps me get through the story as a whole this way. I've been bringe watching your videos and I need to take some online courses in English 101, business management, etc. Thank you so much for your channel 🤘

    I'm listening to all your vids on my phone while walking, and I hate commenting there, so I just wanted to check in and say AWESOME content. Especially your series on making an anchor series. Your videos are filling me with so much energy. Even though I've studied plotting meticulously, this series is great as a refresh, and I will try to use your sheets for my next project to see if it can make the process faster. I also immensely enjoyed your video on editing, especially the "when are you done" video. You're so right - you reach a point where you have to let it go. I'm doing the final edit of the first book in an epic fantasy series. it's almost done, there are a few touches on the character arcs and language that need doing. Then I came across a part where I was like "this could probably be tighter" but it'd take a lot of work and replotting to make it tighter, and I wasn't sure it would make it better or just different, and after your video I decided "you know what, I don't win that much by trying to change it, and it's not like it's bad, it could just be a bit better. In a few years I'll not what I should have done, but I can't wait for that". So thank you for that.

    With the book I'm currently working on, I pantsed most of the first draft for a NaNoWriMo. I had a starting point and one or two other planned scenes but that was it. I just wrote a logical sequence of events, bringing in characters as needed, and the result wasn't bad for a first draft. The only thing I would recommend is, if you're pantsing and you don't start out with an ending in mind, which you may well not until you have a better idea of the story, try to have made that decision by the mid point. I still don't know what's going to happen and they're already in the villain's lair.

More work editing I'm sure, but it's FUN and a lot of story structures are internalized so they do come out at least partially cohesive XD. (Also George R. R. A quick question: are you somewhere talking about how to manage multiple pov characters? More specific if all of the pov characters need to have their own 3 act? Or is it enough to have one main storyline and the other important characters do not have, let's say an inciding incedent? Or a midpoint?

      @HeartBreathings  6 лет назад

      Kali Angel yes thank you. I don't tend to worry too much about piracy. Fighting it takes up way too much time and the books just go right back up, sadly.

    • @BonnieDragonKat
      @BonnieDragonKat 6 лет назад

      Oh not Piracy. Scribd is a service that costs 10-11 dollars a month and you get access to published eBooks and audiobooks that cannot be downloaded. The Internet Archive is a huge online library and many of the books are withdrawn books from Boston Public Library and other libraries around the US. Scribd has an online app that lets you read the books or listen on your phone or tablet. Sorry about any confusion!

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  6 лет назад +3

      Yes, I know! But I haven't authorized Scribd to sell my books :(. They are making money off them without my permission. I've contacted them several times, but apparently other users can upload books to their site. It's a bit frustrating. I'm not sure where Internet Archive is getting them, but I may look into it. I haven't sold my books to most libraries either, so it's possible someone else is uploading them there, too.

    If you were eligible and applied before June 1st but your Creator Studio hasn't yet updated: that means your application is being held for an additional review. You will be getting an email update soon (if you haven't already) and there's also more info about this below.
    FAQS: Why is my application being held for an additional review?
    There are some channels that we’d like to look at more closely before approving or not approving for YPP and these channels are being held for an additional review. The best thing you can do is keep uploading original content as the more info/content for us to review, the better. Just found your channel and this video... I've been trying to write a cozy mystery. Will your workbook work with that? Thanks.

    I tried writing a book that wasn't planned at all and I have no SYNOPSIS no plotting no planning everything written just by hand then typed up. I wrote like this and I didn't like it. I want to plan before I write because I can stress less about my structure. I want to try to plot. So I asked a friend and they recommended this channel

    GRRM is a famous pantser, actually. It's why The Winds of Winter hasn't come out in over 10 years 😂

    Can this process be used for writing a children's picture book or early chapter book?

    I love this and was getting ready to recommend it for our homeschooling group of moms until you mentioned sex. That’s too bad because this would have been perfect but some of the kids in the group, upon hearing that, would no longer be able to focus, I’m sure. It really is too bad.
