So glad that this popular canard that "Israel has the right to defend itself" is at last being raised, albeit by yourself, Michael, and not yet by any mainstream commentator. I would not wish to inflame the discussion in any way, but I think it is fair to pose the question - did the fascist forces occupying France in 1940 have the "right to defend" that regime against the justified responses from the French Resistance? They certainly had the will and the motivation to defend themselves, but the "right"; the 'right' to carry out brutal reprisals against civilians in acts of collective punishment? The judgement of History is that they most certainly did not. How will History judge Israel's claims to such rights?
The French Resistance killed German children? Really showed on the doorstep in a German village and started burning and cutting heads? Please don't throw dirt on the memory of the French Resistance.

Rahma is absolutely spot on. I have a massive crush on this lioness, after Abby Martin. 2:31 Piers mentioned the word "conflict" here. There is no conflict Piers. There is only ETHNIC CLEANSING. This is NOT a conflict.
This was a really good set of interviews. Thank you for keeping it open to the things that are more factual than conjecture. The hardest thing to explain to people is what caused all of this because it goes back over 60 years to explain. The one thing that should be at the heart of all of this is a principle of peace first. Response to an attack? Of course but measured. The punishment should always fit the crime eg a measured response.
The media manipulation in this conflict is insane. I have a video of me posting a comment asking similar questions and why there is double standards in the news on channel 4 and within 20 seconds my comments were getting deleted, however any other comment that is against Palestine was left alone. It’s disgusting that what is happening in Palestine is considered a just response when they could have send special forces instead of levelling the area and deleting brutally thousands of innocent children and civilians.

Journalism was my study profession too, so I agree with you 100% .. Many people wouldn’t know that if they didn’t study Journalism.
Journalism is not only about the standard sizes of newspapers and magazines.
Journalism in its core is about seeking the truth and talking for the oppressed.

Beautifully said
