I have one of these and I am very happy with it. I run it with a 2547 and get great results. Great video Thank You.

I also have BJ300. It is hardly tune. The input impedance is varying and not 50 ohm. It made standing wave back to transceiver.

If I'm right. 3-5 watts input is deadkey AM...you can put the full 12watts SSB into it for LSB/USB...

You should put a little tuner on it to get a 1.1 swr.

Blowing the fuse is the least of your worries, the harmonic suppression for that amplifier is appalling , it is not fit for purpose to use on the amateur bands unfortunately.

Here in the states its illegal to transmit fm below 29mhz because it uses to much precious bandwidth. Where are you from, and are the laws the same? I always use a cw tone to tune, and test. It'll show the full power while preserving bandwidth. Thanks for doing the review im looking for a cheap amp for a friend who's new to radio and is on a budget. Edit...i did some reading, and No angle-modulated (FM or PM) emission may have a modulation index greater than 1 at the highest modulation frequency.", and narrow FM is also good to go👍 73

@@squirlnutsbigsack4864 have a look at RM Italy stuff, much better than the chinese junk, the rm kl203p is nice for a starter, about 100 bucks.

Did you realise that although it says ssb on the front, it's not running class ab or anything close. Look at the circuit and you'll see there is absolutely no DC bias voltage on the base of the output devices. I have one on the bench here in front of me and I'm astonished there is no biasing whatsoever. If you saw it on a spectrum analyser you would never use it. It's a real shame because with a quids worth of extra components, (couple of diodes strapped across the output devices and a couple of resistors) it would run all day on class ab and be clean. Well as clean as an amp could be without any LPF, but it would at least be linear. The SSB/AM switch is a bit misleading, you think that it would be switching some bias in, like all other amps I've seen, but in fact it just makes the change over relay hang a bit longer to get rid of any chatter when using j3e. 73 Shane YO2EWL - G7EWL

    Excellent mate.
    I have tried one
and I found its hi was low and its low was high haha. (Switch was back to front on mine).
The waveform isn't a sine, (at least on mine)
So watch out for harmonics (or filter it).
I think it only does max 150 to 180 watt too
but absolutely brilliant for the price that's for sure mate ⚡🙏⚡
I can even trigger it from a function generator as the xmitter lol.
