I don't know if it's still running the factory ECU or it's a aftermarket you see something like a haltech. If it is an aftermarket ECU instead of worrying about reflashing it and doing all of that just make sure it has the flex fuel sensor. That way it can pick up how much ethanol is in the gas and then it can flip between the two automatically. Basically you put normal gas in it and ride around it's great then when you want to take it to the track if they have e85 throw it in computer picks that up and just changes the fuel mapping based on how much ethanol is in the fuel

Also, this is why you don't buy a previous known race bike and except it to do well on public roads. My buddy did the same thing bought a bike that was previously used for racing only and then he wondered why he had so many issues daily driving it which ultimately led to it sitting for the last few years torn apart.

Personally if I were in your shoes I'd pay the extra 5k to get a turn key h2.
The problems that it has might end up costing a pretty penny to resolve depending on what other gremlins are hiding inside.
I'd love to see a price comparison between getting this one turn key again vs just buying a new stock one.

I have an H2 that has 54,000 miles. It can be a very easy bike to live with and still be able to go well 0ver 200 mph.
Get rid of that fuel pump. If you want an extra capacity pump get an H2R pump or just a proven aftermarket.
This bike with stage 3 gears will get a bit over 100 miles before it hits reserve...fix the fuel warning light.
Get a real map into this thing Woolich is dead easy to use and very useful.
The intercooler is about the only really good thing he did. In your area it is a blessing. The H2 hates heat, octane, and altitude.
You can live with this bike everyday, but as you said get it back to pump gas, get rid of those oversize injectors.
Put a stock battery back in it. No, you don't need extra output for a fuel pump. Also if the charging system is modified, bring it back to stock.
Just so you know the main reason an stock H2 shows such limited HP is because the stock ECU mapping only allow the throttle plates to open 38% at full throttle and RPM. Just flashing and getting the fuel right with the stock injectors will yield you a very nice bike.
Also the H2 when it is running properly is one of the smoothest bikes you will ever ride.
Bring it back to stock (leaving the stage 3 gears and intercooler) and invest in the Woolich, then remap using their tuning software and you will absolutely love this bike. Also if you can score a later model clutch with assist and slipper your left hand will thank me.
PUT the quickshifter back on.
I would also be very wary of that blow off valve. The stocker works well and is plenty noisy.
Get rid of that oil catch, and put the stock piping back in. That little bit of oil does nothing more than deposit itself on the filter, and guess what that catches dirt.
And in the end, if if is set up normall it is just as livable as the ZH2, with the benefit of wind protection. I seldom take it out on rides that are less than 350 miles on as many twisty roads as possible.

Just something to keep in mind, if you ever don’t want it I’ll happily buy it off you. I’m a 16 y/o who’s never ridden a motorcycle before and think that this bike would be the perfect introduction for a beginner and seems like lots of fun. I won’t kill myself I swear.

Run a flex fuel sensor so that you can run pump gas on the street or whenever you want and have an e85 tune for mile runs where you can bring jugs

I have an H2 SX SE and I love it. I have some modifcations done to give me around 250 hp to the rear wheel AND it's comfortable to ride all day (and I even have Panniers). That said... I STILL want to get a "real" H2 for the same reason you bought it... it is the final boss lol. Def glad I'll get to live vicarously through you on this one!!

My neighbour has one stock. The ECU caps it at 185 and he is sure of it because he has been there many times. He used it as a work commuter. I don't know about modifying them though if using them on the street or non competition You already have a bike that will do 200+ with an ECU flash. It seems to me that Yammie should do one mile event before returning it to normal fuel. Get it to do what he paid for and then bring it back to road capable.
All Japanese bikes are "capped" at 186mph or 300kmh. Like you said, it will easily go over 200 if flashed, and most liter bikes will. Google "motorcycle gentlemen's agreement". TLDR the manufacturers agreed to "cap" all bikes at 186 to avoid strict motorcycle laws and regulations.

We have a Grand Father who has a tuned H2, brings it out to our drag strip every week, runs mid 9 second passes when he can keep the front wheel from going space shuttle, which is more than 1/2 the time. lol
Bought my 2016 zx14 for about $7,200 with less than 2000 miles. It had minor chips and bumps. I was afraid to buy it because of the low price. But I was very lucky because I've owned it since 2018 and it runs like a champ. If I were you, I would've paid the extra $5000 for a peace of mind.
Being a mod head and apex owner is more than a simple purchase. Not only did you learn something about the H2, you also learned something about yourself. And that’s ok because that’s a life experience you were blessed to have at a relatively young age. The experience reminds me of people who see the joy and ease of having a baby but didn’t take into account the difficulties and dedication in raising a child.
I have a 2016 h2 , full bolt on , race clutch and flashed ecu. Its a turn key daily bike with definitely more than enough power and thats coming from a turbo busa owner myself. just keep the fueling system simple, fix the gas light sensor and get ur self a air-fuel gauge and keep an eye on the supercharger temp if its hot outside.
You actually swayed me in my decision making process. Thank you for the inside look on what it’s like. For me it was between a ZH2 or a Normal H2 like yours. But now I think I am going to pick up a Z instead. Awesome video yams!

The z was brilliant but I rode mine for 20 days and the motor dropped an exhaust valve in the 3rd cylinder it’s a $23,000 warranty job that Kawasaki insists on fixing and not replacing. It’s bone stock a 2022 ZH2 they only offered free accessories. It’s been over 2 months since I’ve seen the bike last. Just be warned if you get any issues it will take forever to get parts or anything fixed due to the fact parts have to come oversees. Best bike I’ve ever rode but man it’s a pain. Should be done in a couple weeks however so looking forward to pulling some more dank nooners

Never buy another guys project bike or car.
Start with a clean slate, so you can F it up yourself.
pump gas might not be possible unless you downgrade to stage 2 gearing in the supercharger. regular gas wont have the cooling effect e85 provides for the motor. regular gas does not run as cold. regular gas with the stage 2 gearing will give you the ultimate street bike with no overheating issues!

The "fuel economy" or complete lack of it, was really shocking.
It’s the natural downside to running e85 in anything to put out high hp. Doesn’t matter car or bike. You’ll make much more hp but easily cut your economy down to a 10th
Turbo Busas are all hand built, impeccable quality control, never issue, endless working.
I'm dipping my toes into the bike world so i don't know a lot about them yet, especially projects. But ive spent years into car projects and i must say that almost all the complaints are pretty standard points with cars XD.
Do you want a fuck ton of power? Ethanol. Yes, it will be a pain in the ass on cold starts, it will reduce autonomy (by a lot), and it will be a little clunkier to ride (we deal with whole 3rd party ECUs, gas pumps, oil pumps, etc), but extreme projects are not made to be commuting, economic, smooth driving things. (my take, again, I don't know much about the bike world, and about yammie's intention with the bike.)
I do understand that in the U.S., Ethanol is not that common, so I believe that is the major problem (brazil has it on all gas stations). I can understand the "changing it back" option if you want to ride it often and to greater distances.
But, a project H2 wouldn't be a bike i would take on a city-to-city ride or trip. It would be my second or third bike that i would specifically own to yeet myself into infinity on some fast road i know or track, even.
Most of the problems you are getting are problems young car guys have when they want to have the project car but use it on a daily basis.
A project ride is something I would WANT to devote time, money, and circumstance to achieve something unique, and for a unique purpose.
If little old me could tip in, don't change anything in the bike. Keep it as a very specific bike for that very specific day and spend time tuning it to perfection. You already bought the battery, it will no longer die out. Keep that line of thought.
You will have a unique Yammie Monster that you personally crafted to your liking, and leave daily yammie to enjoy OEM smooth Daytona's revving.
If the bike is off of every plan you have on riding, i would simply sell it XD.

I don't think its necessarily directed towards just the h2 or race bikes i think this should go towards any used bike no matter if its a small little 50cc pit bike or a 1000cc + you just have to do your home work. Make sure the seller isn't trying to pull a fast one, talk with him and ask questions. Take the time to overlook every detail you need to. If the seller gets impatient about you taking your time well then just leave because that's not a good impression. Race bikes are tough because they're automatically at higher risk for issues for the amount of abuse they get from day one.
High performance = high maintenance . Just how things work .

I smell a money pit but anytime you're racing, you're spending. Id refresh it, lower the gearing and and take it to Bonneville. My Harley FXR has a built 84" motor with over 100hp. The 4.5 gallons of race fuel gets me 80-100 miles down the road, mixed riding of city crusin, highway or red light racing. MAD FUNN
Go see Chris Moore, If you have a power commander you would be able to run pump gas or MR12 with a toggle switch. Good luck with the H2. That would be amazing collaboration...
Lol at "Saved 5000 dollars". Paying an extra 5k for a bike straight from the factory working as Kawi intended over a bike that has 10 different problems arising from all the previous mods sounds like a decent deal to me. There's a reason why in resale "mods" aren't really considered "enhancements"

I've got a '22 h2 sx and I love it. I always understood people buying the standard h2. It's the legal h2 made for speed. The sx is speed and comfort. I got the sx (with saddlebags hate me if you want) so I'd want to ride it more often and take it for moee errands like getting groceries or takeout so the car can just sit. But the zh2 to me has always seemed like the bargain brand. Like you got your Nissan GTR with hubcaps and left out the air bags and speakers to save money

i'm daily riding my 18 H2 SX SE completely stock and i'm so happy about it. 0-407 meter i clock 220+ KPH at any crossroad around where i live. Love 'm stock, man
Forced induction is always going to be problematic. The difference is really to what degree. Stock: annoyingly problematic. Poor fuel economy, higher and more costly maintenance and of course when you have that kind of power, things break. Modified: ridiculously tight clearances for doing anything, the enormous cost of ownership, the psychological impact of constantly wanting to improve ‘one more thing’, the time commitment, the hours of research and failure. It doesn’t matter if you buy a GT500 or ZL1 1LE, then drop a ridiculous amount of money, having it professionally modified by, Hennessy, modified forced induction, regardless of the craft, is like having a girlfriend who knows you’re married and does everything possible to tell your wife. (Not that I would know, just what I read ). Crazy can be fun, but wow the cost is very high.

Love this vid and your honesty. I did something simple with the exhaust and tune and went back and forth with the tune for three weeks until it was done just right. Super happy with it now but I don’t think I would go through the headache again.
I don't get why the charging system issue. The mods shouldn't affect the charging system.
It should have at least 13 volts at idle.Test with a volt meter.
I have 4 different versions of the H2 and no problems with charging.

E85 is really hard on fuel systems, racing vehicles in general are notoriously unreliable too. But it only needs to go a mile right?

this is why I love 600s for the street. are they way too fast for the street still? perhaps. but they're simple, fast, and they're not gonna time skip into the 7th dimension an have 5 mile long gears like a h2 or the equivalent
Love the behind the scenes stuff on production and as to why we get certain content. Good stuff for the gear heads but also easily consumable for casual fans.

@Yammie Noob you talk about the H2 being a little too much maybe and wishing it was a ZH2 but you don’t mention the H2 SE. The H2 SE is just as, if not more so, comfortable than the ZH2 and my H2 SE will get up to 200mph which would be ludicrous on a naked bike like the ZH2. I traded a 2020 MT 09 for my H2 SE and was really considering the ZH2 before my trade. I realized the thing that I disliked most about the MT 09 was the discomfort of riding at high speed with no fairing to block the wind so I realized that the ZH2 would be a mistake. I have had my H2 SE tuned and it gets about 250 hp at the rear wheel which makes it the fastest and most powerful bike in my neighborhood. In summary, H2 SE>ZH2+H2. Thanks, love your videos.
Seriously, thanks for this. I just walked away from a 16 h2 cuz I felt it had too much done to it. Cams, injectors, sc gears etc. I really badly want one, but I feel like stock is plenty. Im currently on a gen 1 busa w just over 200 rwhp w basic mods. great, but I want more, to a degree. I felt the h2 was the next step. Ideally, stock, but modded deals were the majority of what came thru during my continuing search. Maybe, thanks to ur vid, I now know why. Keep up the stellar work. Thx

When you’re finally ready to go ludicrously fast with reliability and in comfort… Concours 14.
On a totally different scale in performance and time I did the same thing around 1976 on my 1974 Norton 850 Commando. I installed a belt driven supercharger (impeller) on it and had nothing but problems to gain about 25 HP. Yes it was the fastest Norton around but it ruined the handling and was unreliable. All the weight of the kit was on the left side and you had to counter-steer to go straight. I took it off. Since the H2 was factory supercharged it will work as stock just fine. Do it. Take it back to stock and you will love it.
I don't mod bikes other than a fender eliminator and a slip on. Bikes run great from the factory.

Currently have a mt10 and it’s almost paid off thinking about getting a stock h2 and just doing an exhaust and Ecu flash, maybe honestly it’s plenty of bike as it is

If that's not enough? Well superduke, just beef up the radiator mount/tank has extra thicc rubbers on the gas tank. Very least check that it has been.

A friend of mine has an H2. I don't understand how they can possibly use so much fuel. It uses more fuel than my 5 litre supercharged Jaguar that's making 600bhp

I've got a '21 H2 Carbon tuned by Midwest Performance. It's got a Woolich ECU Flash, Brocks Window Link Lowering Kit, Brocks Steering Damper Riser Kit, Brocks Front Wheel Ceramic Bearings, Brocks Front End Lowering Strap Kit, Sprint P08 Air Filter, Vandemon Polished Titanium Exhaust and a Extreme Creations BOV waiting to be installed. The list just keeps getting longer, the investment and exhilaration continue to climb, and the want list keeps growing. It's like an addiction....

Yea everybody says the h2 isn't great to live with but neither is my buell. That thing breaks everytime I ride it but I'd buy it again because I love it. If you truly love a bike then you can ride it for 3 miles and then push it home with a smile 😊
Great video Yammie, what a monster of a bike although 100km range is a bit low I suppose . If I could afford something like that, I would never sell it, maybe stick it in the lounge room and watch TV while sitting on it, once you've finished with the riding fun of course.
My H2 is stock and is just super fast and totally outrageously crazy enjoyable.

Dude I've been following you since you bought that bike. I'm the FLASH.That was bike on Moore Mifias dyno. Dude you shouldn't be having those problems with that bike. I suffered none of the above. I'm also tuned on 93 with a MRX02 2nd tune switch. I hate that you're having these problems but I'd love if you could get it to Chis Moore in Taylors, SC. I'll keep watching and hopefully your guys can get it right.
Yams! Absolutely correct on the numbers vs practicality. Even though I hold my CBR bird in high regards for playful reliability, I will confess that I'd settle for a good 10 incher just for the H2 SX. Because why the hell not?

A smart move to go back to 93 on the H2, E85 is a pain on the street with the crap fuel mileage. My turbo Busa likes gas, but it still gets 100 miles on a tank ripping on the freeway
Love your vid especially the schlong comment , I'm not an h2 rider 😉 but am methanol c16 turbo stage two completely modified with all the bells and whistles. So I enjoyed you telling it like it is as stators, reg /rec , batteries ,extra fans , and the occasional , motec , ams2000,pc5, methanol controller will make enjoying the ride obviously more difficult then others . However to have f22 fighter jet power! I expect to have to constantly take extra steps to ensure I don't fall out of the sky . Lol 😆
I say keep it love it for what it is and go and buy what ever you want instead of changing the beast into a daily driver, leave it in beast mode or sell it to someone who will enjoy it for what it is ! Thanks again for the vid keep em coming

An H2 SX modified would probably have been a decent mile event bike lol but yeah the mod bug is a disease that we somehow love
