Really cool to catch that fish throwing that Hud in the background. What are the odds of that. Glad to see her swim away without that big bait in her gullet. I'm throwing a couple of your deep diving crankbaits. Thanks for all the great videos and info.

What an amazing capture! You ought to send a copy of that to Reuters, it would make it onto almost every television station in the world! They all have a sports break,,,,,picture it,,,Fisherman gets the big bite, sets the hook, the fish breaks the line, and as the fisherman sits down to explain what happened, the fish jumps behind him, throwing the bait! This one could make you rich!

Thank you, for so much. A catch on the fist cast has always been the kiss of death for me. My mental state is often destroyed because so many times the first cast fish is the last fish for that trip. And then, when you got broken off you felt the pain (as we all did) and you pressed on. And you pressed on with the big swimbait knowing the bites would be few and far between. This video was an invaluable lesson for me. I have given up too easily. I have allowed break-offs, the rare but evil knot failure and superstitions to dampen my faith and endurance. This video has taught me otherwise. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom born of extensive experience preparedness and passion. You continually make me a better fisherman and I am grateful.

Dude I've watched this video probably 100 times! Amazing, amazing hudd footage Matt, I've got huge respect for Butch Brown and all the OG heavy hitters but in my opinion you're as good as they get. You're videos are what inspired me to start throwing big swimbaits a couple years ago. I dont think I'd have known this existed otherwise, being from NC (crankbait country) lol. At the time it wasn't as popular a technique as it is in the west, but nowadays everybody knows who Matt Allen is! Keep the content coming brother!🔥

I live ten minutes from Kentucky lake and have a small lake cottage with lake access in the big sandy creek arm just south of Paris landing if y’all wind up in this neck of the woods sometime I’d be glad to host anytime. I grew up crappie fishing in Mississippi but my best green back is 9.8 but still looking for a 10 or better if you want to throw any ideas my way? Personally, I go off of lake experience and fish those known big fish spots for this time of year. Remember, fish are grouped, now. I tie on only a couple big baits I'm planning to work (commitment), I slow creep in on the spots (Ultrex) and fish the angles that allow the big fish to pin the big bait to structure with electronics off (confidence), then just work slllooow AF picturing what's happening underwater and knowing you "might" only get 1 single shot your entire time on the water (patience). It's ALL bonus fish if you get multiples like Matt does on this video. That was awesome!
Example to illustrate, just last week before I went in for season ending spine surgery, I went out a few times with only big baits and I threw the big S-waver. In super tight to shore on one side of point, I cast across the point into about 15' over a known ledge that holds fish...usually. During slow retrieve, I had the belly of my line get around a small rock at water's edge right on the point. That tracked my bait right up to the edge in about 6" of water and just when I figured I might have to creep in to get my bait untangled from the rocks, a 7 lbr came out of the water and choked it right on the rocky shore! The fish killed it and was barely in the water! It was like the videos where you see the killer whale slide up onto a beach to smoke an escaping seal. Bass are brutal AF when they want to kill something!

7 casts total. Bit on all but 1 cast. Used clips from casts 1, 4, and 7. Reversed the boat position for casts 6 and 7. What I wouldn't have done to have made 200 more casts... If Tim and I had done that there would be no buyer's guides, just not enough hours in the day this time of year. These videos take sacrifice, what you don't watch is when we leave biting fish to go sit behind a screen and edit all night so the teaching reaches anglers who need it. 🤦‍♂️ It hurts on bites like this but we're committed to the cause 👍

When your swimbait fishing how much time do you spend on your electronics before you throw out in real in real slow.

in a lake you're familiar with not long, on a new lake possibly hours

Well Matt knows this lake. Is say at a new lake use electronics to find long tapering points. Or found fish on bottom and painfully crawl your lure.

I know how you feel Matt. I had a six pounder break off a Carolina Rig on my last cast of a tournament. He proceeded to try and throw it out with me watching hopelessly. I ended up with 16 pounds in 4 fish and second place with a 4.16. The guy that won had 17 pounds and his big fish was 4.79. I lost both the tourney and big fish, and I just watched that Tank try and throw the rig haha! Great video though! You are the man! #bassfishingwizard

Years of learning great composure remembering the camera and not busting out a "are you f***ing kidding me!" NICE! Any of us would've on that deal. ;)

I was out there on highway 20 yesterday staring out on to Clear Lake wondering if you were out fishing.

Do you think the break off could come from the really stiff rod coupled with the heavy braid and the lack of stretch? I understand the equipment choices but that’s a lot of shock and power on the knot.

      @lexm0 5 лет назад

Bad knot maybe, that's 35lb monofilament, so the stretch is there but, there is a lot of shock and power going into that hookset but you need it to stick that jig hook

Lex Cooper I think Matt runs a really short leader which wouldn’t give much if it’s 35 lb line. If it’s fluoro could be a knot issue and the shock to it. I’m not throwing rocks at Matt, when I have an issue like that I like to think about the why and how to prevent it going forward. Would love to know Matt’s thoughts on it.

Wow amazing!!!! Thank you for showing us it’s possible especially during the winter. Do you think this is possible bank fishing? I have no boat

I would love to see you guys do a video for winter fishing in other parts of the country say... Ohio or New York or Indiana. When I look at this I see fishing in Ohio in mid-september not winter. Love the channel but I wish you guys would do some videos on Kettle Lakes. That's all we have here in Ohio so we do not have long Rocky Point or creek channels or any of that it's basically a big circle or oval type Lake with nothing but sporadic weeds.

California winter in flip flops and a hoodie thats rough haHA - That broke one off footage was great.... & eating your swimbait a second time with your back to it was even better footage if you had to take the loss.
As soon as they put trout in our lakes here it's game on with the swimbaits. Thanks for keeping the stoke before it happens and making sure I have the right tools.

You make it look easy. I guess after thousands of hours on the water you better know where to go to get that big bite!
