Woman with an Attitude Arrested for DWI After Fiancé Snitches on Her

- Around 1:02 AM on September 17, 2023, Officer Marcus Roundtree with the Franklin Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of Easton Avenue and DeMott Lane involving a 2022 Hyundai Genesis with severe tire damage. As he arrived on scene, it was apparent that the front passenger tire and axel were severely damaged. He made contact with the driver, who was identified as 28-year-old Tyasia. Tyasia could not seem to recall how this accident happened.
Officer Roundtree detected the odor of alcohol and noticed that Tyasia’s speech was slurred, along with other indicators of impairment. She denied consuming alcohol, but she her fiancé would later inform him that she did consume alcohol earlier that evening. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Officer Roundtree eventually called for another officer to come to the scene and administer field sobriety exercises.
Officer James arrived on scene around 1:37 AM and asked Tyasia to perform field sobriety exercises. The first exercise involved the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Tyasia failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step and turned improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Tyasia failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion, displayed a lack of balance, and did not count as instructed.
Based on the motor vehicle accident, the odor of alcohol, her fiancé’s account of her consuming alcohol earlier that evening, and her inability to adequately complete the field sobriety exercises, Officer James placed Tyasia under arrest for driving under the influence. The vehicle was towed by Anthony Motors and impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. Officer Roundtree transported Tyasia to the Franklin Township Police Department for further processing.
At police HQ, Tyasia was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators by Officer Ellington, and she agreed to submit breath samples for testing. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.14%. She was asked where she had her last alcoholic beverage, but she refused to provide an answer.
Tyasia was eventually released to her fiancé pending her court appearance after he signed the Potential Liability Warning Form on her behalf. She was issued the following summonses: Operating under the influence and reckless driving

I hate when people say "it's not that serious" when it comes to DUI, because it could have been that serious.
In the eyes of the law it's NOT that serious. It's a misdemeanor. Meaning, the law takes it as serious as a person not wearing a seat belt.

These officers need to be retrained because there were so many violations of policy.
1. They should've had a backup unit there immediately to control traffic and take her out of the road.
2. The officer should never waited until the fiance arrived. Letting a perp call someone to the scene of a potential crime is a huge no no.
3. After being arrested she was never searched for any weapons before getting in the car.

100% It angers me when the officers coddle these drunk drivers! They always tell them that its no big deal and it's not that serious!! These officers have seen how serious driving under the influence is. How it can change many peoples lives in a second. So many people die because of drivers like this. That officer that did her fsts was in such a hurry that he didn't explain the tests properly. Probably because her lawyer can get it thrown out in court because the lawyer can say he didn't explain them correctly and that she didn't understand him. He also kept telling her that he had to take her to jail because she didn't pass the tests on his camera. These officers need to be more strict with drunk drivers so that maybe it might scare them to not do it again
They say that to get them to calm down. They're trying ro desculate the situation and get them to be more compliant. Do you think I suspect is going to be compliant if an officer says "this is so bad. You're in huge trouble. This is REALLY BAD!!". No. The suspect is more likely going to comply if they are feeling more comfortable and relaxed and like it's not that big of a deal

How many of these do people have to watch before they understand that the field tests are to gather more evidence of impairment to support the DUI claim and back up the breathalyser. I’m from Australia and even I get this. They were more important back in the day when there was no breathalyser or they were not as common. I can’t recalls single person who passed them and was not arrested. Even the one dude that actually was sober as proved on his alcohol and drug test still failed them.

I get SO angry when the officer says “It’s ok, it’s no big deal, you’ll be out in an hour. It’s not a big deal!” I know they are trying to keep the suspect calm, but that babying is absolutely ridiculous! 😡

This officer should be reprimanded. This was a time consuming and poorly executed stop. I truly belive a female officer would have handled this better. If he wasn't attracted to her, he would have done his job correctly. Or if it was a man who was stopped, he would not have waited for ANYONE.

I think you have missed what is most important, our leaders have determined that we have to have more black police officers.
