A 5 ft tall chicken would be unstoppable. Have you seen how strong chickens are? If you own a chicken go out there and try pushing down on it and you will feel its strength. It is surprisingly strong for having such skinny legs. Of corse if its kinda tame itll just let you push down on it and wont resist and youll thing it was easy im talking about pushing down on a chicken that doesnt get handled alot so it can put up resistance. Also have you seen chickens claws? A 5ft chicken would have huge claws, it would rip your skin apart since thats how they fight

The good thing about this pawn horde is that you dont have to worry about a king to guard, just keep pushing and ingulf everything
at 9:04 I think she should sacrifice the rook and then capture back on H2 with the queen. She would be able to completely obliterate the position, capturing all of the pawns on the back rank and then capturing all the pawns from behind. She could sacrifice whatever pieces she needs to keep the approaching pawns from promoting, and then she'd be able to destroy all the pawns from behind. If I tried this challenge, my main goal would be to get behind all of the pawns
Only problem is defending the upcoming potential promotion.
I think the strategy if you are the non-pawns team is to:
- sacrifice your own pawns first to open up the space
- find holes in the pawn structure to avoid sacrificing your pieces
- try to get to the back of the pawns because then you can eat them for free, while also keeping the front line so they don’t become queens..

This is the old philosophy of horde, but outdated. White's counterattack in some cases is strong because of the material which black sacrificed. 1 a5 d6 2 a4 dxc5 3 dxc5 h5 4 d4 e6 5 d5 Ne7 6 d4 hxg4 7 hxg4 exf5 8 exf5 Bxf5 9 gxf5 Nxf5 wins for white. Of course, there are some types of infiltrations which win for black, but white has made a lot of opening developments (including the line I provided above) to make it too risky for black to infiltrate. The best strategy for black is to put white in zugzwang by controlling all 8 files so that the white pawns can never queen and march to their eventual doom. So 1 a5 d6 2 a4 dxc5 3 dxc5 h5 4 d4 e6 5 d5 g6 would be the correct approach for black, and winning.

I just played this and won with black. I kept the center as closed as possible and tried to break though on the end and eventually got behind because they overextended themselves. Technically won on time but I had a queen and rook against 5 pawns.
Ah, reminiscent of the 36-pawn Putin opening - 35 sacrifices, mostly zwangzuege, leading to a forced stalemate. Shame about the pawns.
Horde has own theory, you can look ath the studies on lichess
Yes I accredit lichess horde studies to at least 150 points of my improvement in horde. The most useful I found was the one authored by mysterious expert
Every variant that Stockfish can analyse has theory
We did that in Denmark quite much through history. The best strategy is to wait for the ones behind as much as possible.

White's weaknesses are the flanks and the back rank. If black can use their rooks and queen to reach the back rank, and white is playing a race against time to promote before black takes all their support.
According to Lichess data, the starting position is very balanced. White wins 48 percent and black wins 49 percent.

you just needed to put a rook or queen at the end, and you could have take all the pawns
And if you had thought a bit more, you would've avoid the blunder of writing "take" in your sentence. The best move would've been to write "taken".

you missed an opening for the queen to just pac-man and eat up everything. move queen to h7 and then down to h4, nobody can capture before you move to e1 and just start gobbling the entire back row. if he tries pawn to g3 to block you then push to h3 and then move diagonally to f1, then if he tries to block with pawn to g2 then you can safely take on h2 and take again on h1
then once you are on the 1st rank you can just go ham, it becomes a game of whether he can put you into checkmate before 30 moves pass, or whether you have enough pieces left to safely restrict his movement.
ironically, white might stalemate from no legal moves if you forget about having the front line locked up while you're eating everything with the queen
I play "Really Bad Chess" on my iPhone. It's a fun variation of Chess I recommend for creative play. The better you do, the worse pieces/placement you have at the start of each game. You always have a total of 16 pieces though. At a certain point you have almost all pawns, no queen, and the opponent has 4+ queens. But as you pointed out here, lots of pawns is NOT a bad thing. I hope they upgrade "Really Bad Chess" use the starting position as the primary handicap, e.g. King starts on the front line, etc.
In ultrabullet horde, White always wins. Every move is just a one-square slide and Black will never be able to take all 36 pawns in so little time.

If you play with black, it seems like you should try to go by the edge of the board with a queen behind all those pawns and then try to prevent promotion while eating pawns from their backside.

Surely this has got to be easily winning for White (disregarding the clock)? The pawns will always be able to defend each other, so once Black has exchanged their own pawns they won't be able to capture any more without saccing pieces. It would be more interesting if White started with no pawns on one file, so Black could potentially get a queen or rook through to the back rank to attack them from the side/behind.
FALSE if any side is winning it is black. Black can force white to lose material and squares because white is not allowed to skip turns and simply has to advance forward. 1 h5 a5 2 e5 h6 3 g6 Ra7 4 d5 Ra8 - and so on - probably wins for black. Some horde theoreticians believe it is even the strongest opening with black. I would probably rate it the best reply to a move like 1 e5 but maybe against other moves there is something even better (I guess 1 e5 is the best first move for white)

After seeing this type of chess for the first time, there should be less pawns for white. Also, instead of having a king for black, black should be able to choose any alternate piece they want. Just my thoughts💜
For Masters, yes, white has a slight edge. For under 1600-1800 chess player you have a slight edge with black I'd say. To make this horde of pawns work you have to have a very advanced visualization skills, or black just crashes trough "easily". I am a 1500 and in my games black almost always wins, either that's me or my opponent
@@MrTennista92 white has to keep all the pawns together and keep trading. black has to make it to the back rank to clean out unprotected pawns
@@MrTennista92 stockfish actually thinks it's -8 at starting position, but it may be due to closed position.
@@GraydenKC stats say white has over 50% of win ratio.. of course I can't speak for a level I don't have (masters) but to me it's always easier play with black because you have a bit more room for inaccuracies. With white one mistake ora right sack you didn't prevent and you're doomed. Problem is that good players don't blunder like I do 😂 Just watching Anna's visualization skills and control of squares here makes me realize how different it is the situation when I play it

You're pushing so much you would think you're having triplets
It's almost impossible to win with the pawns if your opponent knows what he's doing you can just sac your rook and any piece on the a or h file and you will eventually break through
yeah, sure, except youre rated 800 probably. Pretty much any piece sac results in a pawn replacing it. So basically you need to sac about 7 pieces on a single side of the board whilst avoiding being checkmated by the pawns, in the meantime not allowing your opponent to make a new queen and in the process eat the pawns from the back. Yeah, seems correct, an easy win for black.
If you add the king on some e1-d1 square, then it is absolutely black's game, but black will win only after capturing every piece of whites

this seems very unlikely to me but i haven't tried it. I can't imagine being incompetent enough with white to make this hard.
@@maximix5447 Black is better but your reasoning as to why, is wrong. Black wins by controlling the position passively all 5th and 6th rank squares on all 8 ranks. This is the correct strategy in every possible explored opening tabiya that white can choose from
