      What are the results of muon g2 experiment tell me in a nutshell

    • @TheOnlineBlackboard
      @TheOnlineBlackboard  3 года назад +2

      The G-2 experiment are very interesting as they point to new physics and likely new particles. This is however not the only news, earlier this year LHCb posted new results that also suggest that lepton universality is also broken, this is also a hint at new physics. This result could be linked to the G-2 result because both are finding deviations in the lepton sector.

      is the g-2 experiment in fermi lab, opens a new field of research?, or a a New laws of Physics, except our normal ones(Gravity, Strong Nuclear, Weak Nuclear & Electromagnetic)?, if this turns out to be true then many research fields & it would lead a further step forward to our reach to TOE(Theory of Everything).

    • @TheOnlineBlackboard
      @TheOnlineBlackboard  3 года назад +2

      @@srijanraman4361 The result is very interesting. If you consider the Feynman diagram for the electron interacting with a photon. This diagram has a lot of higher order loop corrections. If you compute over 1 thousand of these diagrams you can get a really good theoretical value of the anomalous magnetic dipole moment of the electron.
      In the case of the electron we did the theoretical calculation and then checked this value in experiments, and the theoretical and experimental result match so well that actually the anomalous magnetic dipole moment of the electron is the most accurate and well tested result in all of physics.
      The interesting thing is if you now try to repeat this for the sister particle of the electron, like the muon. This is what the G-2 experiment is about. They calculated the theoretical value and then tested it in the experiment, but surprisingly for the muon something is wrong. The standard model does not account for something, something is wrong with it. Thus maybe there exist some new particle which we don't know about, and that interferes with the muon and slightly changes the experimental result.

    Hey.....a question here...
    Is dark energy just a prediction or it's a proved entity(i mean mathematically proved entity)??

    • @TheOnlineBlackboard
      @TheOnlineBlackboard  3 года назад +2

      Dark energy is mathematically fine, its responsible for the expansion of space time

    • @srijanraman4361
      @srijanraman4361 3 года назад

      I mean.....like higgs boson, its mathematically proved and also we found it.
      dark energy has not been observed yet but is it just a prediction of a certain theory or we introduced it.....or it exist in mathematical terms(like in a form of an equation) only ??

      @@srijanraman4361 In 2011 a result of the study of redshifts was published, this later led to a noble prize. This paper is the main evidence of dark energy, but we don't really know what is going on.
