"St louis new jack city the streets look at me as nino, marv you can play scarface but its only one pachino/ He wanted me to swing first, he like don flamengo" (GOTTA LOVE THAT PUNCHOUT REFERENCE)
Enforced time limits and the crowds were so much better back then. Time limits made battle rappers have to spit fire instead of putting in all that fire. The crowds would react and go back to listening. Now, you can't even get them to calm down so you can go back to rapping. KOTD crowds are the closest thing to that type atmosphere.
Jayblac1615 Oh hell no! Marvelous Won won. And y’all gonna be judgin Aye Verb vs Pat Stay? Hell naw! Y’all are gonna be biased. Pat Stay on an uphill battle! Cause MARV WON GOT THIS CLEEEEEEEEEEEEAR!!!
"you aint in the streets, you direct deposit ballin / and your creepy facial hair makes you look like a police composite drawing" that shit had me dead. verb still got this one though, that third.
After watching this battle several times, here's what I think: Rd 1: Tie. Rd 2: MarvWon edged it, in my opinion. Rd 3: Verb had BODYBAG material. Since I see it as a tie round by round, I have to go by who I think had the strongest individual round, which was definitely AyeVerb in the third. That was storm performance, there. So in my opinion, Verb edged it.
Score-card: Round 1:(9-7,Verb). Round 2:(11-8,Marv). Round 3:(15-13,Verb). This was when Grind Time was in its prime! Great battle, but Verb got this. AYE VERB 2-1...
BB13131313 You're right about that, for sure. I could've sworn Iron Solomon destroyed E Ness, but watching it again a couple years later, I found it to be much closer than I thought the first few times, and definitely feel like E Ness' style held up better than Solomon's sing-songy, overly simplistic flow. That being said, who wins in battles (close ones, that is), is all about preference. I could see why someone might see it as 3-0 or 2-1 Verb; I just happened to disagree. Peace!
"when i make that saint louis body flip it will not be ozzy smith" damn for ya'll who dont know ozzy smith played for the cardinals and did hella backflips
Man that NICK VAN EXEL wordplay and punch was CRAZY.My manz AYE-VERB weeent IN on the 3rd round!! That dude was killin it.And then MARV came with that cold HORACE GRANT flip!!
@nylgnd38 Its all good.....nice discussion...the url and grintime battles are the only thing keeping me interested in hip-hop...I listen to alot of classic hip-hop...PEACE!
"Impressive how I'm in my 3rd Rd and I still ain't crack a fat joke yet!"
24bigcoop yup this is where that all started.
That won him the battle
Legendary line that go overhead like Hollow’s vs Big T impressive to still have more far jokes left in the 3rd round. Used them all three rounds.
I been watchin alot of old battles lately...this was a pretty good battle!!
yes it was
I wish Battles was back to this these days...
Me too bro
Love the classics, verb, hollow da don, Arsenal when he was young before everybody hopped on nuts and all these rappers goin on wild N out
"he wanted me to swing first, he's like don flamenco" haha
Heavily underrated. Both came with clean performances, Marv had great angles, Verb had great bars, verbiage and cadence.
"He tongue down the bitches I thumbs down !!" Lmaaaaaaaaaaaooooo
"St louis new jack city the streets look at me as nino, marv you can play scarface but its only one pachino/ He wanted me to swing first, he like don flamengo"
(GOTTA LOVE THAT PUNCHOUT REFERENCE)
"Push my buttons, I eject Hollows...."
predicting the future much? Hollow vs Buddens?

I remember those days when the crowd wouldn’t interrupt every other line 😂, good times.
verb was fuckin' cooking in the 3rd
Thanks for watching!
This is when Ayverb pen game & performance was unmatched 🎯💯
Enforced time limits and the crowds were so much better back then. Time limits made battle rappers have to spit fire instead of putting in all that fire.

If grindtime was mortal kombat, he’d be Stryker the cop, getting his ass uppercutted spun round and kung lao’d!
How can you not like this??? This battle is classic.
One of the first battles I ever seen, but years later it's still one of the best.
I love it when Lush starts cracking up when Marv says "...You drop down..." because he knows what's coming haha.
Different stage
Its levels to this
This verb was different. Dude evolved tho
When I make a st.Louis nigga body flip. It will not be ozzy smith. best line ever
Verb seemed upset and he showed up.
"how ur name AYE VERB ? when u aint bout no action"
Marv is a funny dude. Both showed out.

Marv definitely lost.
3-0 verb
Lyrically, Verb is leagues ahead of Marv. And, the fact that Verb is still battling makes it even clearer. Verb got this.

Verb's 3rd round is one of the best ever Battle Rounds Ever by ANY BATTLE RAPPER.

"you aint in the streets, you direct deposit ballin / and your creepy facial hair makes you look like a police composite drawing" that shit had me dead. verb still got this one though, that third.
Classic battle, 2-1 Verb
7:00 "Impressive How Im In My 3rd Round, And I Still Ain't Cracked A Fat Joke Yet"
DAMNNN!
I remember this Verb before the showtime
+K. David verb 3rd round was a long as showtime.
outlawz38 facto
+outlawz38 Verb style has changed. He need to stop writing rounds based on time limits and go back to just fire until somebody yell time.
Did Verb just really say, "I'm darth vader, run up on you wit a light saber, poke a hole in em, have em lookin like a life saver."? FUCKIN BEAST
greatest battle event of all-time. whole card was LIVE.
I agree even the mid tier battles were great
Verbs 3rd is one his best rounds
After watching this battle several times, here's what I think:
Rd 1: Tie.
Still dope years later. This was a great battle.
Verb 2-1
Classic battle. These were the good ole days.
Verb killed this shit god damn
Man this battle is still hard to judge. I want this old Verb back.
Score-card: Round 1:(9-7,Verb). Round 2:(11-8,Marv). Round 3:(15-13,Verb). This was when Grind Time was in its prime! Great battle, but Verb got this. AYE VERB 2-1...
This battle is whatever you prefer street, flow and skill or jokes and style! Both ripped
Took me 5 years to say Verb 2-1
Brandon Watkins Aye Verb is my favorite but Marv got the first 2.
NuNus Knees you stay hating Verb. foh
WristyFrogDeuceDog lol Verb is in my top 3... Try again.
NuNus Knees just out of curiosity's sake? Who are the other two?
Who won between Verb vs Goodz? (true test)
Verb won that but it's debatable because of his stumble in the 2nd. Lol I really don't need to prove anything to you.
This is such a good crowd. oohing and ahhing at every right moment.
Marv got him
was one of the best battles in history
This when verb was coming up. And he still lost. 2-1 marv. Easy 3-0 debate. Marv 3rd was better

THIS BATTLE DESERVE MORE VIEWS
2-1 marv

Verb woN this Battle...
kevin remy Watch it again
Verb 2-1 or 3-0 in a GT classic..
Gotta disagree with you. Haven't even seen the third yet, but it's already 2-0 Marv in my eyes.
ThatUncutRaw i haven't watched this battle in forever.. you could be right.. sometimes shit changes as battles age..
Peace!
