I discovered your music by accident, as a man who used a couple of your songs, this one and chasm, in his soundtrack for 4k Europe video.. I'm so thankful as it's the most beautiful music ro my heart and soul .resonates and gives me goosebumps.. after all, music is supposed to bring emotions to the fore..if it doesn't then it's not worth listening to as i see it.

This took me to the ancient times and civilizations of Egypt and Rome. Simply good piece, Tony! It tries to transcend time and space itself.
I've wanted to do ambient music for a long time. It's just hard to materialize visions and sounds when you're poor and unprivileged. Haha
Don't allow poverty or lack of privilege to define what you can and cannot do. I started with no money in a family that did not have the financial means to buy me anything for music. I used my family computer and a pirated version of Fruity Loops for the early years I wrote music back in 2000-2004. In college, beginning in 2005, I worked several jobs and went into debt with banks and credit cards to get my first computer and pieces of gear...and for those first 10 years (2000-2010) nobody cared what I was writing, and very few people liked it (including me). My mentors and heroes told me my music was not good and helped me get it to a place where it was better, but even then I did not make a living from music. I could have stopped from the sheer discouragement of it all, but I did not allow my surroundings to dictate whether to not my dreams and visions could manifest in the form of music. In fact, for the last 13 years, I have been creating music in two of the LEAST inspiring cities on earth...Joplin, MO and Lexington, KY. Yes, I travel to the "hubs" for recording, but I don't prefer to live in the hubs. I visit them for inspiration and then come back home to write. Where you are does not define what kind of music you can create. Neither does your financial situation. If it's in you, let it flow. Don't pay attention to quality...pay attention to keeping that idea you have alive in its purest form. The myth is that you have to have money. Or location. I had neither when I began, and here we are chatting on youtube...yes, it's hard...but worth it. What you learn in the journey is AS IMPORTANT as the music itself.
Yes, that's what I'm saying. Even a family computer is a privilege for someone who grew up in a small island in the corner of a developing country. And college, well, that's out of question. We couldn't even afford college. I didn't even last a semester on my music course in college because my scholarship had problems. I was forced to back to the island. Poor from a developed country is different from poor in a third world country. We don't start on the starting line, even the starting line is a goal and dream. We start from way behind the starting line.
Yes, in this day and age, so many opportunities have opened. Money and location may not be as important as it was years ago in making music and making it on music, but still it doesn't change the fact that certain tools even the basic ones is needed in order to materialize things. Laptop, instruments, and so on. For example, Andy Othling's Ambient Song #22, I've loved it for years. And I also know I can do that and more than that. But I don't even have my own room where I can make music without disrupting others. Much more the instruments, pedals, etc. And I'm not being delusional. I'm not saying this because I'm bitter or I feel like I'm better than Andy or anyone. No. I'm no one. But I know I can. I'm saying this in a humble way. It's just hard. And adding the pressure of providing for yourself and your family, it's really difficult to take time, take risks, for yourself and your dreams. And no, I'm not sharing this for self-pity and ranting of unfairness in the world. I've started to see beyond that. I'm just sharing this fact and story and the difficulties.
But thank you, Tony. You're right. I'm not disregarding your response just because it's different from mine. Getting a response from you was more than enough source of inspiration and yet even more, you shared pieces of your story and life which made this so much more inspirational. Thank you, Tony! Thank you so much for sharing your story and for encouraging me. It's late, but I won't give up. Thank you. This means a lot to me.

A scripture I hold dear is 'A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.' Proverbs 16:9. You've a talent and it's shining through, keep writing and composing.
