    This okc defense held luka and kyrie to 30pts total, with sga 40pts three days ago...
    Shooting, shooting, shooting.... If rockets could shoot 35% from 3pt, they would win against okc yesterday.
    Rockets defense is elite but it is not possible to keep that intesity throughout the game, this team needs at least an average shooting percentage to win consistently...

    • @ROBERTMILLS-v9z
      @ROBERTMILLS-v9z Месяц назад +1

      But they can't shoot 35% against any decent team. Trades need to be made along with a coaching strategy! Clase the 3 pt. Brick factory and tell people you do not have the green light to throw up 15 threes a game each. If we had guards that could shoot better than in the 30% range on all thier shoots. Just be smarter and play closer in. I'm not a believer in all these threes if you can make twos at a high% it's just as good and more reliable.

      I’ve liked Jalen a lot as a fan. But at some point I realize I like the Rockets more than one guy.
      Hard pill to swallow but Jalen is not “the guy” on this team nor does it look like he will ever be.

      @bigkanesays304 I also think Jalen Green has potential and I have been waiting on him to grow his game.
      Problem is, he has been in the league for a couple of years now and he should be a slightly lesser version of SGA or Anthony Edward's by now.....if he was, Rockets would have beaten OKC and the rest of the league would fear the Rockets on a whole new level.
      But he is inconsistent.
      I think the issue is all through the G league and his first couple of years on the NBA under Stephen Silas, he never had good coaching.
      His first good coach started last year with Ime Udoka. Now we are in year 2.
      His refinement of his game is starting late.....so the question, How long do we wait for him to reach his potential if he ever does?
      Has his lack of coaching early on ruined what he could have been?
      Also, the Rockets as a whole took a huge leap ahead of Jalen Green's growth....
      3 guys, (if develop very quickly) can place the Rockets in championship contention either Now or next yr
      Reed Shepherd, Cam Whitmore and Jalen Green.
      Don't even know if all of them will be on the team with all the excess talent the Rockets have.

      What are you going to do , give him Dillan's minutes? Dillan is out playing him easily. He's got to learn how to make the right play and do a better job on switches, if he wants to see time. Scoring is important, but not if you give up even more on D.

      @JudaRod11 Месяц назад +1

      @juqual78
      Totally disagree with your assessment. Tari and Amen CANNOT do what Cam do....at all.
      Tari and Eason are average finishers at the basket. Cam is an athelic beast that will posterize defenders. He stronger and built for contact. He use his body well to leverage against his defenders and score at ease around basket.
      Amen and Tari can't do that. They struggle whereas with Cam, it's his forte.
      Next thing here....Cam was in a shooting slump. Reed hasn't been hitting his shots as much either. Amen isn't exactly a shooter right now.
      And Tari has been in a slump too but you don't see Ime going hard on them like he does Cam. Cam is just coming off his rookie season.
      I don't understand why Ime impatient with him when Reed has been a bit worst. Holliday ain't giving us sht. And Amen can't really create his own offense.
      Cam can create his own offense. He's comfortable shooting and playing around the basket.
      He's a better all-around talent then Amen and Reed...and Tari. And his defense is not bad at all. It just not as good as Amen though. But he can make up for it, scoring the ball in bunches.

    Yes sengun should take more shots, and continue to take shots even when they arent falling.. but the team approach to offense is egalitarian to a silly extent. Not that he don't deserve blame. But the hyper focus on balance, when balance aint gonna work.

    • @juqual78
      @juqual78 Месяц назад

      Well that kind of comes from the fact that Jalen and Sengun are so young. Younger players tend to defer to vets and we have some REALLY strong willed ones in Fred and Dillan. That and Ime values tough vets quite a bit and rewards them with usage and shots.
      I don't see that dynamic really changing unless they FORCE it by playing out of their minds, or Ime enforces it. Ime has pretty good control of his team, but that is also in part because he has deference to smart/tough veterans as general rule.
      All that said, Jalen has to play better. He has been terrible offensively , almost the entire season. Too often he can't burden the load of being doubled and hounded the entire game. He's been shrinking and turning the ball over far too often when the pressure is on, which is a terrible sign for his ceiling. You either have that extra gear and level of focus, or you don't.

    @oar41 Месяц назад +8

    Completely agree as usual. Alpi needs to develop a short term memory. He gets emotional over every missed shot and missed call and drops focus. It bleeds into his defense and his finishing. I need Aaron Holiday's mentality to brush off on him a little, because for whatever reason when Aaron Holiday steps on the court he throws up shots like he's the best player on the court. Outside of Alpi, we know the perimeter shooting is lacking. It bothers me when Udoka says the offense is generating good shots because those shots are wide open, when we all know those shooters are open for a reason. Teams want us shooting those shots. Our offense should be generating GOOD shots, not just open shots. The offense should be built to get our players to spots where they are consistent. Say what you want about Jae'Sean Tate (dude can be all over the place), but when he gets in the game, EVERY SINGLE TIME he's getting to that left hand hook shot off the glass. Know your spots and counters and how to dictate your offense.

    • @juqual78
      @juqual78 Месяц назад

      Yeah and since he's missing so many shots it's compounding things. He's giving up 2-4 points a game and the rest of the team of course feeds of his energy so it's setting a bad example for the other young players.
      It's a really bad habit that every leader of the team needs to break, so that toughness filters down.

But since we winnin, we expected too much. But that's fine. 2nd how many potential assist Jalen could have if Alpi just made all those damned tear drops. Jalen is not fit in this system. He needs a coach that can utilize him better. Not saying he's gonna be a superstar (that shipped already sailed) but atleast setting him for success. Even Fred can't set him up better. We need to ship him out and get 3 and D or look out for Booker or Lavine. Now Jabari, he still doesn't have a dribble package. He can't even get shots. Amen is great but he's still tentative sometimes. Tari needs to knockdown shots as he gets it. I mean, still hoping to get to the playoffs outright but we need a pure scorer/knockdown shooter. Still, Go Rockets! 🚀

    OKC is undoubtedly one of the best teams in the league. They not only have blocked the feeding tubes of our best players, but managed to paralyze them by not giving them any easy shoot as well. Simple as that.
    The worst taste I have from yesterday was that even in the garbage time of such a game, all Jalen thought about was padding his stats. Its a shame and against most well-known unwritten rule. This is disrespectful to both the opposing team and his own teammates. He needs to stop having such a mentality.

He usually shows up for big games, just look at the game against Golden State, it's night and day. Could it because of Las Vegas distractions? When Fred was on Raptors he was a really good backup PG. But when he tried to lead our team as our starting PG it was a disaster. When we won the Championship Fred spent most of the games on the bench. He tends to crack under pressure. Fred would also go very long stretches of missing nearly every shot. We joked when he had a his baby he finally started to make shots again. Turning point seemed to be when his ego grew massive. He started using the saying bet on himself and forget the rest of team. When he has a bad night shooting he still takes the shots if you don't bench him. To be fair to Fred he has really improved his durability with the Rockets. On Raptors he was always injured. I honestly thought no team would sign him. Let alone offer him big bucks to lead a team. Rockets have a really good team to compensate for this and still be near the top of league.

      @ no disrespect taken, I’m no expert so what I’m saying could easily be 100 percent wrong, I concede that. I like hearing different points of view.
      Personally I’m just not sure any system will make Jalen the type of player we want at this point. Even if it makes him a bit better, if the juice worth the squeeze.
      Honestly when has Jalen ever been efficient consistently? Even when the entire system was catered to him and he was handed the keys to the car.
      I’ve been watching this kid from day one and waiting and waiting for him to blossom into a star. It has been 4 years and to me (maybe I’m wrong) it doesn’t seem like it will come.
      He just isn’t that guy, in the second half of his career he will probably end up as a streaky flame thrower 6 man somewhere. When hot you ride him, when cold you sit him

    • @Nick-ok4eq

      @williamdavis9562 I see him as a Westbrook type. Remember when Russ first got to Houston he was bad... like really bad, but once we traded Capela, he had more space, and that opened up everything for him. And for me personally, that was the best version of Russle Westbrook ever. That stretch he had was better than any stretch of his MVP season.
      When Alpi went down, Jalen was forced to be that guy, and in the following month and some change, Jalen was the best player in the NBA, even if it was for a short time.
      Comfortability in a certain playstyle is definitely a thing for Jalen and Alpi both. I think if you force them to put the team on their back, they will. I feel like they're still getting their hands held. But that's just me.

This team plays like thier Golden State but thier nowhere near a shooting team like them. This team needs to play to thier strength and that's inside the 3 point line. The Warriors packed the paint and dared the Rockets to shoot threes. That's why they took so many, that was all there was to do. Jalen was hardly engaged in the game. He was mostly watching. When a player dribbles past the area you're guarding, you should at least make a swipe for the ball. Sengun was so confused he never did get focused. If SGA had not been so cold the first half, this game could have been a runaway. It was close until the fourth quarter. Ime and Stone need to quit playing hard ball with Cam and let him play some and when he is playing well, give him more minutes. It's an injustice to Rocket fans. Rockets are catering to Reed like they do Jalen. Giving him minutes he has not earned. Reed needs to go to the G League and keep him there until he at least scores a 20 point game. I never heard of a good shooter that passes up shots like Reed. Probably if he were to try and become a volume shooter,we would find out he is not that good. There are so many players I wanted us to draft beside Reed Sheppard.

    The bottom line is, we can't score. Jalen green needs to know how to play, the same with Sengun. Probably they're young, that's why they don't have the go to move. A move in which a great player can score no matter what the defense will give them. If these two can develop a go to move then we are contenders. Our defense is a championship level but our offense is just low.lols I don't think our coach is out coach. A coach can't do a lot if his 2 franchise players can't score. I don't expect Brooks, amen, vanvleet or season to take over the scoring in the fourth quarter. These players rely on Green and Sengun to take over so that they can help them. When we won 2 championships way back 93=95 era. You don't expect Maxwell, Elie,thorpe, Kenny to take over games. Hakeem Olajuwon dominated, take over so that those guys could be free to help him. The defense will open if our 2 franchise players will take over and dominate.

    The Rockets are in dire need of a pass 1st PG. These shoot 1st PGs like FVV and KPJ don’t cut it, when trying to win at a high level. FVV was most successful his 1st couple years when he was playing in an off-ball/6th man role. He’s never passed enough or made his teammates better in Toronto, since becoming a starter. Jalen does have to get better in some areas like taking care of the ball, reading the game, and staying aggressive. I think the organization missed the ball by not giving him those reps during the tanking years. Instead they wasted them all on KPJ. I would like the see Stone to get a real PG like Lonzo Ball. Or just move off FVV for KD/Butler type player. That’ll allow a combination of JG/Amen/Reed/Sengun to run the offense.

    Every body stunk in this game, give OKC credit they know what they wanna do this year and they not messing around.
    But, how long do the Rockets wait for Jalen Green to be that guy? He’s still young and got time to figure it out but when you watch him play he looks so unaware and unbothered by his play, and it’s not just the poor shooting, but his lack of play making, lack of free throws, sub par rebounding for his size and athleticism, and poor assist to turnover ratio, it’s all horrible. I feel like he gets a pass, know one talks about how bad he really is. He’ll come out and score 30 pts and everyone forgets about bad he’s played the previous 5 games. He’s supposed to be that dude right now and he’s not even close on any level especially as a leader. There’s def 8 arguably 10 players drafted after him that are more impactful to their team. Imagine this team with Scottie Barnes, Jalen Johnson or Franz Wagner. It’s time the rockets admit they missed on Jalen Green, move him and look to bring in a veteran like a Butler, Lavine or Ingram and make a real run.
