      Shakespeare is actually very "readable". The trick is to pick something you like the theme of, then go slowly, and relax into it. Try to forget it's "SHAKESPEARE-OH-MY-GOD-SHAKESPEARE" and get engrossed in the storyline. The stories are really quite excellent and captivating.

      I take it back. Only a few words sound a bit Scottish. I've been listening to more OP readings and it doesn't sound that Scottish at all. But how amazing that Tom would read with that pronunciation. Or is it??? He did study Classics and is amazingly curious. He'd want to learn OP, I'm sure.

    I could be wrong, but shouldn't they be wearing special gloves to handle the pages of a 400 year old book?

    • @BeautifulSilence
      @BeautifulSilence Год назад

      Not sure if you still care to have an answer to this question 😆 but no, gloves are not reccommended when handling books.
      Loss of dexterity in your fingers to turn the pages can damage them, especially if they are foxed together. The oils in your fingers are less damaging. Usually, the archivist will ask you wash (and thoroughly dry!) your hands immediately before handling the book.
