  • When you have a Chevy V8 with 520HP in a chassis of this size it's going to be a pretty special car. However, this Lola T70's history takes it to another level. Bought by John Surtees in 1965 and then raced by none other than triple-crown winning Graham Hill in the same year.
We had the chance to talk to the driver, Ewen Sergison, who took the Lola T70 into battle in the Surtees Trophy at the 79th Members' Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport.

If you don't finish with a couple of tire scrubs and a bit of someone else's paint on your car, you aren't racing, your out for a Sunday drive. I have the greatest respect for those of you who keep these historic racers on the track but, you have to realize that this is the beauty of a kinetic environment and, that there is the probability of damage in such an environment. If what you are after is a "+" in the win column perhaps you should stay with what you know, not with what you expect! The men that drive these historic automobiles know one thing and one thing only , "WIN!" Any thing else is just an "also ran"... It's not like you don't have the $$$ to repair the damage or have the bragging rights to claim the day, "you do!" it's a matter of the pride in those you send out to "win the day" and risk their lives with the trust that "YOU" are willing to expend the fortune to see that they come back in one piece that wins respect for your effort!
Remember that, those you send to the joust become our hero's! "We" will decide who that do so, do so with virtue!!!~ "We" expect better of you!
